Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 14

Week 14 already!

I have tried to be really good. Maintaining my weight last week was hard, but I was glad. Now to see if I can roll a couple more lbs off!

I have done the usual, a mixture of eating really well, and also a little eating naughty. we went out for lunch to Pizza Express. I tried to be relatively good, but I didn’t skimp either. I am trying to lose weight, yes, but that doesn’t mean that I stop living!

My plan is that I am really sensible during the week, and I weigh in on a Friday morning. This means that I can relax, just a tad, on the weekend. We may have a takeaway, or eat something a little richer at home, but it gives me the week to get back on track, and it has been working so far!

Even Hubby Dearest has been eating some of my creations, or slightly adapted versions!

I still haven’t got on track with exercise, but my bike had been at my in-laws house so my mum-in-law could try it out. I got it back yesterday so I will attempt to get on my bike, so to speak, a couple of times a week, at least! I think I am at the stage where I have reached a little plateau, weight-wise. 10 stone has been my good resting weight the last few years. a weight I can maintain pretty well, if I keep my mind to it. To lose a few more lb’s, to keep them in the weight bank in case of accidental slip ups, I need to try a little more physical activity that is proper exercise, not just the day to day running around!

And well, after my weigh in yesterday, I was awarded with this…

Oh yes!

Another 1lb off!

That takes my cumulative total to 19lbs! I am secretly amazed, and extremely proud of myself!

Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 13 #icandothis

Thirteen weeks ago, I embarked on this mission to improve my lifestyle, my eating habits, in order to lose some weight, and generally make myself feel healthier. My plan was to hopefully lose around 2stone. Realistically, 1.5 stone would do.wp-1477781949515.png

And I lost some… then decided I needed another boost so I joined Slimming World too. I was so happy to say that I hit my Slimming World target last week.

I was worried. A few days at my parents and then the big foodfest that is Diwali, last week, meant I was sure I would have my weight creeping up rather than down this week.

20161030_172935

Naughty, deep fried food… I had some on more than one day! And rich, creamy rice pudding too!

And it did. I defy anyone who says that they only ever step on the scales once a week! I for one get up, and take all my clothes off to step on my scales every morning! It wasn’t a pleasant sight this week. Usually, I maintain my weight for a couple of days, then the numbers start to decrease. This week, though, the numbers actually crept up….. I put on 2.5lbs and on Tuesday, I was determined, I needed to do something!

So I really focussed, I used an extra part of the Slimming World Diet plan called Extra Easy where there are a few other foods that you curb for a few days too, like excess carbs, and dairy, but you still eat your healthy extras which give you the fibre and calcium you need.

Here is a selection of my meals this last week…

I’ve been tired this week. Back to school after a blissful week off, and the in-laws are away for a prolonged visit to the Motherland, so I have a lot more running around, with the kids. (They help us out so much with the picking up of the children after school, so I can work late, and also Mum in law feeds them too! She has actually frozen lots of mini pots of curry for the kids, so all I have to do is make fresh chapattis for a few of the nights a wee at least!) But I have managed to hit my step count every day, so at least I am moving around!

And when weigh in day approached yesterday, it was with trepidation, but also there was a little hope… and

I stayed the same as last week! Yay! 10 stone still! So the full loss still stands at 18lb over the last 13 weeks.

Hopefully next week will be easier, though a few sweet treats extra seemed to sneak their way between my lips today… oops!

Until next time Peeps!

Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 12 #icandothis

Well well well!

It’s been another roller coaster week.

Holidays. They tend to do that, you know!

I have been killing my step count via my fitbit over the last few weeks, which has been amazing! But this  week… put it this way, even my Fitbit knows I’ve been relaxing! I think today was the first day since Monday that I hit my daily target!

But I have been reading, and enjoying time with my parents… and obviously that has affected my eating! I have tried to be good, but it’s hard not to indulge when you are back home with Pops and Mum… she’s a great cook! and then you slip in the odd meal out, or cup of tea and rather large scone… oops!

But I have been good otherwise! See my achievement below!

Tonight, I knew the plan was for the family to order a chinese takeaway. I came prepared and thought I would try a Slimming World ready meal, available at Iceland, of Sweet and Sour chicken with plain rice. That saved the syns for a few nibbles from the starters!

20161029_200049

It was ok… but I may just stick to eating the real deal next time!

Other food this week, looked a bit like this, including homemade Weetabix/oat carrot muffins!

And my results this week?

1lb off!

I got this from Slimming World yesterday!

Yes! I reached the target I set with Slimming World, of 10 stone!

So that is another 1lb off, making 13lbs with Slimming World and 18lb in total over the last 12 weeks!

Seriously, I am not sure how I managed it, but i did!

Now the ideal will be to get down a fedw more, to 9 and a half stone. But even if it is just below 10 stone, I would be happy! 10 stone is definitely my happy weight. I can deal with being 10 stone!

Really I need to do some toning, the mummy tummy is still there, a little emptier, a little flatter, but still a pouch sitting there, above my bikini line, taunting me.. but then again, there are great control pants out there!!!

I have no idea what next week will bring.

a) the in-laws will be away for 6 weeks, from Monday,  so there is a lot of household stuff that I will need to take charge of, at their place.

b) I’ll be rushing around so need to make sure I don’t resort to convenience food

and the biggie

c) it’s Diwali tomorrow, and there will be all manner naughtiness, food wise… temptation that I won’t be able to avoid!

But at least I’ll have fun, eh!!!!

Have a wonderful night/day Peeps!!!!

Until next week, when I let you know the effects of the above 3!!!

Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 11 #icandothis

healthy-living

It’s not been that much of an inventive week this week. I have tried to cook sensibly, and if I had treats, tried to be good… I have been ailing for this cold that finally hit today, so I have eaten convenience foods, and strayed a little more than the last few weeks too…

And the loss this week?

1.5lb!

2016-10-21_06-58-36

That is 12lb in total since starting Slimming World, and 17lbs in total over the 11 weeks!

My target is 10 stone, realistically, but I would love to get to 9 1/2 stone and be able to maintain it. So, as of today, I am at 10 stone 1lb. that is 1 lb off my realistic target, and 8lbs away from the dream goal!

I’m getting there Peeps! Thanks for the encouragement!

Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 10 #icandothis

Oh yes, I am back! And with more updates on how my health kick is going!

Firstly, can I say, exercise has been lacking, seriously! When I say exercise, I mean that extra stuff we do to get fit. I run around like a headless chicken most days due to being with 40 3-4 year-olds, so I am so tired by the end of the day, I feel I can’t do anything more focussed!

And yesterday clumsy old me has injury #1890 to report. I managed to perform a most amazing trip over, where I landed with such grace, but in the landing gracefully, I twisted my ankle! It’s not too bad today, but the bone is definitely bruised!

20161014_194621

At least my toes still look glam!

But I am still eating creatively, and cleanly. In fact today when the rest of the family ate a Chinese takeaway, I had beans on toast!

And today I had a Slimming World 1 syn fry up for lunch, and had fun with the presentation too!

20161015_122933

And how did I do this week? After a plateaued week last week, I am relieved to say I had a loss this week!

2 lbs!

2016-10-14_06-54-37

So that is 10.5lbs off in the last 6 weeks with Slimming World, and 15.5lbs off in total, since I started this journey. That’s over a stone!

It has been lovely this week as a couple of my colleagues have said that I am looking really well and like I have lost weight… It wasn’t for nothing then!!!!

So with me on a high, I shall leave you Peeps! Here’s to a little more each week!!!
