Excite & Karma

I had a little fun with these words… from the tame…

Meditation, Buddha, Yin And Yang

Sit back and watch
It’s amazing what unfolds
Kismet plays its hand

To a little more sinister…

Doll, Voodoo, Magic

Exciting revenge
Karma’s coming to get you
Just desserts are served

To a tad naughty!

With your pulsing vibrations
You stimulate me

TJ’s Household Haiku – Arch & Tree

TJ has another lovely prompt for us this week. The words

Arch & Tree

and/or the photo below

Tree Cathedral

So, the photo gave me this…

Branches bent over
Inviting you to walk down
The aisle of nature

The words inspired this…

#SoCS May 13/17 – Language

Lind’s prompt for #SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “language.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

So here we have a poem I penned, which was inspired by a post a wrote a while back. It’s linked to the last word of the poem, if you wish to click through and read!

My mother tongue
is Punjabi
Mixed with accents
of Swahili
But what I speak
the most at home
At work, at school
and on the phone
Is English because
that’s where I was born
To choose a first language
I am always torn
My ‘mother tongue’
or my ‘step mum’ one?
To accept one,
the other to shun?
Or to celebrate
the presence of all three
And to call it
Pun-gli-hili?

Thursday photo prompt – Green #writephoto

Sue’s #writephoto prompt this week.

“Is this what we’ve been searching for?” Charlie stopped suddenly at the edge of the water.

Pete reached his side shortly after, out of breath, almost doubled over with the effort of this up to now pointless hike. “Well I don’t know Chaz, feels like we’ve been on a wild goose chase so far. Bloody cryptic clues! Was always bad at these things at school as well. Why couldn’t they just write simple bloody directions? Give us a post code, you know, the satnav would have done the rest!”

“Shut your cake hole for a minute and look at this!”

Pete looked up and saw gently running water and a stone building of sorts, with two dark, dingy entrances.

“Look into my eyes, all set in stone
Upon which the green moss has grown
Step over the tears that appear to flow
And enter the cavern in which no one will go
Choose left or right, wrong or right
It’s up to you, success or plight…”

“Whaddya reckon, eh?” Charlie continued, “Four months we’ve been solving those damn riddles, getting closer and closer, and now I think we’ve gone and found the last place, you’re flaking out on me! Tell you what, if you can’t be arsed then get lost! I’ll go find the stash myself!”

“No, no, Chaz, now don’t be hasty! I wasn’t being negative at all… no, let’s go do this. Which one then eh, left or right?” Pete wasn’t relinquishing any claim to this treasure anytime soon!

They sploshed across the water and entered the cavern on the left. As their torch light faded into the darkness, the water flowed faster, as if the tears were rolling freshly, mourning another lost treasure hunter or two….

WRITESPIRATION #115 52 WEEKS IN 52 WORDS WEEK 19 – The Right Place To Write

Sacha’s prompt this week for #Writespiration.

This week, I want to get to know you. Pretend money is no object, describe your perfect office or writing location, or make it up, make it random or describe the craziest place you’ve worked.

I wrote this 52-word piece first… Maybe the craziest place I have written…

23bcaa4d-748a-48d4-a2be-76318a7697f4

Sitting here, right now is probably the loudest writing spot I use!
For the last two years, I manage to squeeze in an hour’s writing time at my children’s Dhol Lesson!
Imagine… Between four and twelve large drums beating, often not in time, providing me with inspiration… and often a headache too!

Then the drums provided me with inspiration to write a 52-word poem too! (Hope this is allowed Sacha!)

As a writer I have no home
I have no writerly fixed abode
In the dining room or on my bed
I scribe the stories in my head
My phone, tablet, laptop too
Occasionally, while on the loo!
But to have a space that’s truly mine
Now that would simply be divine!
