Cracked Ice #writephoto

Sue’s Photo Prompt this week for #writephoto…

cracked-ice

“You can’t walk on water!” they all said to me…I’m getting sick of it. Whatever I want to do, they tell me I can’t do it.

What rubbish! Hadn’t they seen the stream this morning? Oh it was cold alright. So cold that the water had stopped flowing, frozen solid.

There, see.

That’s one way I can prove them wrong!

I just need to test it out, so when I get them here to be witness to my miracle, I don’t look a complete fool, slipping and sliding around the ice.

One foot on… steady! The other leaving Terra Firma and placed cautiously on the ice.

There! Done it! I am standing on water! And if I just take a few steps, I am actually walking on water, frozen or not!

It’s not easy, you know, but at least these spiked shoes have some grip on the slippery ice!

Actually this is quite easy! I bet I could even run on water too!

CRACK!

What was that?

As I look around, I see a crack appearing in the ice behind me, zig zagging along towards me, following the small holes my spikes had created.

SPLASH!

Thank goodness they weren’t here for that! Lucky the stream wasn’t so deep, and it it was just my ego bruised, and my clothes wet…

Maybe I’ll just listen to them next time…

Ritu’s Healthy Eating – Week 17 #icandothis

wp-1477781949515.png

Another week, another bunch of lovely munchies!

20161126_120916

You know me, playing with my food!

And a really yummy dish I made…

20161127_190119

Syn free pizza and Slimming World chips! This was particularly yummy!

The base was a gluten free wrap called BFREE. This counted as my Healthy Extra Fibre quote for the day. The cheese was my Healthy Extra Calcium content. The toppings were all free choice veg and protein!

I must confess though, that i haven’t been staying within my Syn limit. I was expecting to gain a lb or 2, or best case scenario, maintain. Those Curly Wurlys and Malteasers were calling far too loudly!

But…

I lost 2lbs!

2016-12-02_06-44-10

Week 13Β really!

And I hit my second mini target or 135lb!

1480660367109So, in total, since I started this journey, I have lost a total of 18lbs on Slimming World and 23lb all in all!

To celebrate, I ate 3 slices of Pizza Hut pizza yesterday! Whoops!

Been good this morning, but we’re eating out tonight too, as my parents are here!

Have a great week Peeps!!

#SoCS Dec. 3/16 – Sh

Linda’s SoCS prompt this week is…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: β€œsh.” Find a word that begins with the letters β€œsh” and base your post on it. Bonus points if you start your post with those letters. Enjoy!

Shush!

It’s something I seem to do an awful lot…

Shushing people, but usually little people!

It is a futile task though, really.

If a 3 year old wants to talk, no amount of shushing will make any difference.

Believe me, I try constantly.

It could be that I am introducing a short task, and the others are trying to listen, or we are trying to hear another child giving some news to us.

It may even be me reading a story, and a child not able to contain them selves, shouting out their own commentary throughout.

Or incessant crying for Β no reason, and no amount of cuddles and words will stop the flow of tears.

(Believe me, I am a patient person, but after an hour of the persistent whine I defy anyone to not say SHUSH!)

#SoCS Nov. 26/16 – Pretty

Linda’s SoSC prompt this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: β€œpretty.” Use it any way you please. Enjoy!

You know what? It’s been a pretty mad week.

School has kept me even more busy than usual these last few days. It’s been Observation Central over here!

On Monday my co-teacher was being observed, so I had to be the supportive side-kick (as always!). And she did fantastically, asΒ I expected, getting Good, with a side note about supportive colleagues!

On Tuesday, I was observing my line manager, but not in the context of judging her. We are piloting a new scheme in school, Lesson Study, where you are put into teams of three, and plan lessons, which then are observed, but you pick three pupils and predict their learning curve over the lesson, then see whether the intended learning outcomes were achieved. It’s a pretty tough thing to do, especially as no one really knew what they were doing! And the third member of our team was sick, so it was just me observing the other member of my team. Even more interesting as I was off sick last week in the meeting where they planned the whole lesson!

Wednesday was my turn to be observed… Last year both our observations were done as tandem ones, where we were observed together, working as a team. This year the Head Teacher decided that we needed to be observed individually. So… this was my first solo observation! I was bricking it, no lie! After doing my input for the session, we got going. On one side I had one assistant making cupcakes, with a group. On another, I had the other assistant doing a shape activity, and going on a shape hunt. We had a regular volunteer in too who was starting the process of creating dough decorations with the children… not so good to look at yet, but eventually they will be pretty ornaments for their parents to keep forever! My co-teacher pottered in the background so she didn’t interfere in my observation, but kept the stray kids busy making shape monsters! And I floated around, seeing which kids had recalled the shape names we were learning, and observing them in play.

I haven’t had the written feedback as yet, but the verbal feedback was pretty positive, so I can breathe a sigh of relief!

Happy Saturday!!!
