#SoCS 2nd Jan. – In The Corner

Linda’s #SoCS Prompt this week:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “in the corner.” Write about whatever the image or thought of “in the corner” brings to mind. Have fun!

As soon as I read the prompt, the first thing that came to mind was Dirty Dancing, and that like “Noboby puts Baby in a corner!” line, spoken by Johnny Castle, played by the late, great Patarick Swyze.

A film I absolutely loved when it came out, and it’s still up there, as one I could watch again and again.

In fact, I’m of a mind to go and watch it right now!

#Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge NO. 209, Last Challenge Of 2020 – Hope #Senryu

It’s the last one of this interesting year… 2020…

For the LAST poetry challenge of 2020, I want you to write a poem about hope, using your favorite poetry form (it doesn’t have to be syllabic). Please make these poems inspirational to others.

Hope

We all need that hope
The world needs us to believe
Things will get better

I find it so hard to confirm a specific style of poetry that is my favourite, I love rhyming couplets, and limericks, but equally, the challenge of various syllabic poetic forms is just as satisfying.

This week, I chose a Senryu. I like both Senryu and Haiku, because of how much you can convey in such few syllables.

I hope you enjoy my ramblings, too! (See what I did there, hope?)

Here’s to plenty more poetic adventures in the new year, Peeps!
