The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Nov. 28/2020 – Opt

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “opt.” Use it as a word or find a word with “opt” in it and base your post on that. Have fun!

If there was a button to press, to opt out of 2020, would you?

Sitting the face of lockdown 2.0, about to head into tier 3 (the strictest of restrictions) for another couple of weeks, it would be easy to adopt the stance that I have hated every moment of this year.

It’s been tough. True.

But would I choose to erase it?

No.

2020 has been momentous for me, for a few reasons.

  • #1 My debut was released!
  • #2 We refurbished the house
  • #3 We put the house on the market so we can concentrate on finding our forever home.
  • #4 I got a promotion.
  • #5 Did I mention, I finally released my book baby!

The world has seen some awful moments, yes, but it’s the little glimmers of joy we should try and show some positivity for.

That’s how I get through life, anyway!

Just opt to adopt
A positive spin on life
It makes things seem brighter

Ronovan Writes Décima Poetry Challenge Prompt No. 33: (BLIND) in the C rhyme line

Thought I’d try a new one, this week, Ronovan has a Decima challenge.

Ronovan Writes Decima Challenge Image

A different type of syllabic poetry, with a rhyming structure as well.

Décima poetry is a 10 line stanza with 8 syllables per line. The rhyming pattern is abbaaccddc. Using the 10 lines there are generally two ways to organize: The 10 lines, or breaking the 10 lines into two stanzas using abba/accddc.

This week, the prompt is Blind, and it needs to be used in one of the C lines.

Here goes….!

 Everything seems just so surreal
When will this world begin to heal?
 Politics covering the truth
Blaming the aged, and the youth
We try to see, they just conceal
I feel like I am going blind
Maybe I am losing my mind
My thoughts muddle with one another
Feelings that I try to smother
But it’s just life, the daily grind

2020 WEEKLY #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 204, #THEMEPROMPT – Truth

Colleen’s Syllabic poetry challenge!

This month’s theme is a haiku written by Sue Vincent:

clouds cover the moon,
beyond dawn's pale horizon
sun rises unseen

Here's my take:

Truth is never hidden
Eventually, you'll see
Reality bites

#SoCS Nov. 21/2020 –

Linda’s #SOCS prompt for this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the last thing you put in your fridge.” Start your post with the last thing you put in your fridge. Let your mind wander from there. Enjoy!

Beer-ly, Linda? (Like what I did there? Beer was the last think I put in the fridge, for Hubby Dearest…)

It’s been an age and a half since I took part in the #SOCS challenge, and you give me this prompt?

Why have I been away so long?

Well, in case you weren’t aware, there has been a crazy pandemic, let loose across the world, and after deciding to cut all my excess blogging, to concentrate on my WIP, I started back at school in September, and basically found my whole life sucked out of me!

Forget working on my WIP. The only thing I’ve been good for, the last few months has been work. Full Stop.

It’s been exhausting, in school, dancing to the tunes of the imbeciles in charge of our government, and the education sector, all the while knowing what they are suggesting is probably not the right way to do things.

I’ve been falling into the house, exhausted, mentally and physically, with a particularly challenging class, to top it off, and besides making sure my family is fed, I barely have the energy to do anything else!

I read, yes, but fall asleep, frequently, with the book in my hand.

Oh, and not to forget the home renovations, as well as putting the house on the market, and beginning the search for our forever home!

Writing has taken a total back step, because my brain can’t compute any more!

But, I hope, I am back now!
