Did I survive the sleepover???

Oh my! 5 kids under my roof for just over 15 hours, and I was wiped out!

It was a successful sleepover, thank goodness, but not just me, the whole house ended up in zombie mode, come the afternoon yesterday!

The kids friends arrives around 6pm on Saturday, and they were straight out in the garden, the girls playing in a tent, the boys kicking a ball about. Then food, via the barbecue. Yup all went down well. Oh, did I forget, my in laws were also over for dinner too. So we have 5 crazy kids, two oldies, a cat, and two manically smiling parents!!!

My in laws made a break from the house as soon as the food was done, I think Hubby Dearest would have too. But I convinced him to stay!!!

The hard thing? Getting these 5 hyper kids to bed! 3 girls up in the kids room, the boys on the pull out bed in the living room, leaving Hubby and me no choice but to chill in our bedroom for the evening. We duly got the kids into beds, and sat, ready to watch a movie together, but I think between 9.30pm and 11pm I was up and down like a yo yo, trying to control the giggles emanating from both upstairs and downstairs.

On top of that Sonu Singh was in his element! So many beds to choose from! Thank goodness the kids weren’t scared of cats!

I finally flaked out around 11.30…. No, I didn’t even finish the film with Hubby dearest!

But was joyfully awoken by 2 lively lads at 5.30am!! …. 5.30am??!!!  Seriously boys? Get thee back to bed!!!! Then at 6.15, lil man cones in, “can we pay on the phone/iPad/play station?” Er… No!

I requested they wait until at least 8am before technology wakes up, and tried to sleep, but not before hearing the TV get switched on! Whatever!

But yes at 8am,  the whole mob was truly awake, girls included… At 8am on a Sunday morning, for crying out loud!!!

Major breakfast making machine mummy ground into action, and then getting teeth brushed, clothes changed and hair done was the next mission, but I completed it!

They played for a while and by 10.30am I had to break it to the lil munchkins, that I had to drop em off home. Booooo!!!! They weren’t happy, but hey, that was the plan.

Excess kiddies dropped off, I came home then we popped over to my in laws for lunch, followed by a visit to the prom, so the kids could run around, and get an icecream.

We got back home and literally all flaked out, apart from Lil Princess. I woke Lik Man up at one stage, and he was so tired, blood shot eyes stared at me, and his head hit the pillow again.. ZONKED!!!!

Serves him right for sleeping late, and getting up with the birds!!!

But I didn’t get off lightly either. I couldn’t nap, as Lil Princess was awake, so I decided to do some homework from my course. Not easy with a headache from hell brewing… (3 in 3 days) but I did, two units, yay me!!! And I was not cooking, so pizza was duly delivered. Kids refused to sleep, but I got em down by 9ish in the end.

And time for a well deserved lie in, on this sunny bank holiday Monday, right?

Hell no!

Sonu Singh had other ideas, and decided that 4am, yes 4am!!!!! would be a good time to come sit on my pillow, and mess around with everything on my bedside table!!

What was I doing at 4.30am this morning? Loading the washing machine! Well if I’m up, might as well be practical!

Lil Princess is just rousing now, at 9.50am, Lil Man has been up a while, and I got more sleep until 8am in the end.

So now to start the half term holidays!!! Yay!!!

Have a good day peeps!!!

Happy Birthday Pops!

Me and my Pops

It’s my dear Pops birthday today!

He’s the youngest 69 year old around!

His love and care is genuine

No better dad to be found!

He’s always there come thick or thin

With his hugs and soulful eyes,

And if something is troubling you

His words are always wise.

We laughed lots growing up

His sense of humour is the best!

And if we were down, in need of hugs

His cuddles were the best!

And now it’s time to celebrate

What more can I say?

But to wish my Precious Pops

A very Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday Pops, from me, forever your little girl! ❤️

I realized yesterday that Lil Man is growing up…
We had to run, like properly RUN into town after school to get some promotion going on in a national paper, before it ran out. As we walked, me breathlessly, back to school to pick Lil Princess up, he walked past a friend/classmate of his…
Their exchange?

Friend: Yo
LM : ‘Sup (nods head)
Friend: ‘Sup…

And they walked on by…

Oh I giggled! He’s 9 for God’s sake!!!

I hold his hand and it seems so big, he is looking older, slowly his height will increase… But he’s still my baby… Shown by the fact that the promotion we were running to get, was for Lego!!!!

But I Smile Anyway...

The SATS Effect – Kids Logic Part 33

if you read my post on Sunday, you would know that the children in the UK I. Year 2 (aged 6-7) and Year 6 (aged 10-11) are going through some pretty serious tests right know, known as the SATS. They are used to grade their progress over their Primary and Junior school education time.

Lil Princess is in the midst of hers, being in Year 2. Oh the pressure of it all! How to describe the effects of these ‘tests’ on a little child…

We were as the kids karate lessons on Tuesday night. Lil Princess hai-ya’s from 4-5pm then plays with friends there for an hour whilst Lil Man has his lesson usually.
This week, after her lesson, day two of her SATS, she was listless, sat with her friend, didn’t jump around like a loon, wasn’t making a racket… Not normal…
she came over to me and sat next to me, then laid her head on my lap.
Me: What’s up, Lil Princess?
LP: I’m tired…
Me: Why don’t you go play?
LP: My body’s telling me to go and play, but my brain’s telling me to rest!

See the effects of this testing…. Broke my heart, she’s so exhausted…. But she’s doing so well bless her, all I could do was hug her!

Storytelling…

Its 10.45pm and I’ve just finished making my props for story assembly tomorrow!
I like to make stories come alive, not just with the book, but using visuals, and accents, songs and props.
Tomorrow I’m reading Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson.

image

And I’ve recreated the main characters.

The monkey and butterfly,

And the suspected mummies!

Hope the kids enjoy it… All 180 of them!!

Last week I read Hamilton’s Hats by Martine Osborne.

image

And I made the different hats!

image

I wore a headband to slot the various hats into, and the kids loved it!

But I Smile Anyway...
