Monday evening, and it’s time to tax my brain with Lovely Ron’s haiku prompt.

You’d think it was an easy prompt, the words Sun & Moon, but today, maybe it’s because my brain is overtired, I struggled… but came up with this.

TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Pins

I thought I should have another go at TJ’s fun Household Haiku Challenge this week! Check it out here.

And here is my photo….

Alas, what can I say… my pins have been in brand new packaging for the last 5 years! They are one of those items I bought when we moved into our new house, thinking they would come in handy one day… But I am not a dressmaker or seamstress in any way, so the packaging was broken open, especially for this challenge! Maybe I’ll use them now!

And just for humour’s sake, a little 3/5/3 haiku too!

Forgetting
And then sitting down
Ouch! Sharp pins!

Roses #writephoto

Sue’s photo prompt today reminded me of the first bunch of roses Hubby Dearest gave to me when we were dating. He was a student, so they were never going to be the full-headed, huge, deep red blooms that you need to take a loan out to afford.

But they were roses, there was a dozen, they were red, and they were mine!

I was so touched, I wanted to keep them forever!

Remembering the advice of a friend, instead of trimming them, and sticking them in a vase, I used twine to secure the bunch and then hung them to dry, upside down.  They dried beautifully, with their little heads held high.  The colour faded. What aroma they had, disappeared. But they never failed to raise a smile, when I looked at them. I kept them for a few years, but they got to a state where they started to disintegrate, so I had to say goodbye to them…

Then, two weeks ago, at my parents, I found myself giving my mum the same upside down drying advice! Pops and mum had been away from each other for 5 weeks, as my brother sustained an injury, falling on ice in Finland, where he lives.  Mum went over to him to help out a bit, and Pops was left, home alone.  He keeps busy, but I know how much he missed mum! And when she arrived back, he bought her a beautiful bunch of roses, romantic old fool, my darling Pops!

When I went to visit, they had been sat there for 2 weeks in a vase and were still in amazing condition. Only one bloom was starting to droop. Mum proudly showed her flowers off, and as they were in such good nick, I suggested she dry them upside down, as a wonderful memory!

The photo immediately brought a thought of a haiku to mind, and here it is…

#TJ’s Household Haiku – Walking Stick

I’ve seen a few of my blogily enter TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge in the past, and it seems like time is never on my side, usually, but this time I thought “No, I am going to MAKE time!

So, here it is, based on TJ’s prompt for the week – Walking Stick.

If you saw only posts last week, I was suffering with my feet, and the doctor diagnosed that I have Plantars Fastiitis in my heels. This causes excruciating pain when you put weight on your heel.  It started with one poor foot, then the other has started playing up too!

So, we went to Bluewater for a wander, and a bit of shopping on Friday.  I have never felt older in my life! After an hour of walking, I needed to sit down every 100 yards or so, as my feet were killing.

I tell you, I could have done with a walking stick then, and in Boots, the kids thought it would be thoughtful/funny to show me the folding ones that you get.  There was a rather fancy one, with poppies all over it, but no, I didn’t resort to that!

( However, I have invested in new special heel insoles, a roller for my feet, and 3 new pairs of memory foam sole shoes for work!)

But today, after a particularly rigorous cleaning the house session, my feet were screaming for mercy, and I needed to find something to help…

(Cue the Haiku and photo!)
