#SoCS March 9/19 – Abash/A Bash/Bash

Linda’s #SoCS prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “abash/a bash/bash.” Use “abash,” or “bash” as a noun or a verb. Bonus points if you manage all three. Have fun!

I’m going to a bash this year.

I’ve been to a bash the last three making this my fourth.

It’s not just any bash, but the Annual Bloggers Bash.

Have you heard of it?

It is a great event, where you can meet many likeminded bloggers, and mingle, share tips and ask questions.

There is an awards fuction too, which comprises of catergories whose nominees have been voted for by bloggers worldwide.

I’ve been lucky all three years, coming home with some sort of recognition, from second place, Best Overall Blogger award 2016, to the winner Best Overall Blogger 2017, to third place Best Overall Blogger 2018. I was even a guest speaker last year!

It appears that I have peaked.

This year I have been nominated for Best Book Blogger ( grateful for the nomination) but there is no way I could be placed in this category, as I know of many more, focussed on book, blogs that are more deserving.

But I shan’t come away from the day abashed. No.

I’ll come away with more beautiful memories of a fantastic day!

Hi Ritu

Congratulations! You have been nominated for Best Book Blogger at the Annual Bloggers Bash Awards 2019!

Well! I have to say, I wasn’t expecting that! Not really considered myself to be a Book Blogger, but obviously one of you lovely folks out there thinks so, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Not expecting a win, let alone placing in this category, as it is such a big one, with a lot of blogs out there who are simply amazing at the whole book blogging thing, but still… you never know!

One nominee from each category will be shortlisted and put forward for the Best Overall Blog category by a set of judges and the committee. The nominations process will be open until 31stMarch 2019. All nominations will then be open to a public vote, which will open on 10thApril 2019 and will close on 24thApril 2019.

And speaking of the Bash… have you nominated/got your tickets? If not, here is all the info you need, at the moment!

Attend bloggers events

Sounds scary, huh?

You thought blogging was a great way to stay anonymous, write in yor little cocoon, and never know who actually reads your words?

I was the same initially, until I decided to attend my first event, as I had been nominated for an award…

My event of choice was the Annual Bloggers Bash, which is held in London, UK.

I had heard of the first one, which was a small gathering of bloggers for a lunch, chat and a set of awards. This developed into a full-blown event, which has been going yearly for 4 years, and the fifth one is on the 15th June next year.

Well, I attended the second, and third, and dragged my Hubby Dearest to the fourth, and each occasion has been amazing!

(Obviously coming second in my category the first year, winning Best Overall Blogger the second, and coming runner up the third helped!)

But I have developed some wonderful friendships due to these events. Each one feels like a reunion, rather than a ‘work’ event. Yes, you network, and are able to listen to some inspirational speakers, but for me, the best thing is to actually talk to bloggers who I read on a daily or weekly basis.

I have picked up some fantastic tips too over the years, and I have baked too… but that’s another story!

There are blogging events all across the world, and if you want to create a network, it is a great way to link up with people.

You may even decide to travel overseas to one! I know we have had attendees from the USA, Australia, Lichtenstein, amongst other places over the years, at the Bash… maybe I could convince some of you to attend???

Royal Ravens – #AnnualBloggersBash

A second entry into the Annual Bloggers Bash writing competition – a piece used for Charli Mills Writing prompt too!

“It is a worry indeed, Your Majesty, yes. We’ve had to sack three of them this year, and getting decent replacements, well that is an increasingly tough task.”
Beefeater Chambers looked out of the window, whilst speaking to the Queen on the Royal telephone.
The requirement was six ravens to be guarding the Tower of London at any one time, or the Tower and Kingdom would fall, and this new generation, well they were useless.
They didn’t have the spunk of their ancestors, calling in sick all the time, too busy posing for the tourists and Instagram selfies.
