Ritu’s Healthy Eating – Week 27 #icandothis

healthy-living

Another week, another batch of healthy meals with some naughtiness thrown in!

Shall I start with the naughties?

Well we had my brother in law’s birthday, so there was cake (and nibbles), then we had a wonderful wedding with soooo much food, I couldn’t exactly say no, and at school we were decorating ginger biscuits,  so I had a nibble of a couple… (someone had to eat the demo ones I made!) then I can’t forget the Hot Cross Buns with lots of butter! Oh, and pizza too…

But there were the times I was so hungry for my healthy snacks I couldn’t even get a picture before eating!

Then some food was just plain old funny!

20170206_120634

And so to some of my on plan meals for the week.

No dance class this week due to family birthdays, but I managed to dance plenty at the wedding!

And how did I do?

Another 0.5lb off!

2017-02-10_06-50-47

So that is 23.5lb off with Slimming World so far, and in total, I have lost 28.5lbs since starting my healthy eating plan!

Phew!

It’s half term this week, so I’ll be at home more. Sometimes that is good, sometimes it means I pick and graze more…, and I still have a couple of birthdays to celebrate, as well as Valentines Day… Will I manage to lose, stay th3e same, or put on? Who knows!

So, until next time, have a healthy week Peeps!

I have tried oh so hard this week.. being pretty good with my eating. That elusive 0.5lb had to come off somehow!!!

I used some of the Slimming World ready meals and they weren’t bad either!

I did an hour and a half of my bhangra/giddha class which raised a sweat and got me huffing and puffing! (can’t go next week as its on Hubby Dearest’s 40th birthday, but I’ll make up for it tomorrow, will be dancing plenty at a wedding!)

And the loss?

0.5lb down…

2017-02-03_06-15-28

Thats 23lb with SW and 28lb in total!

I have lost 2 stone!!!!

I did it… I really did it!

#ididit

But for some stupid reason, I decided to increase that by an extra lb on my SW goal, so if I can reach that too, it will be awesome!

Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 25

wp-1477781949515.png

It’s been a naughty week again! I have felt like I had hollow legs for a few days, and I just ate, and ate, and ate… all the wrong stuff! Crisps, chocolates, more crisps… I just couldn’t stop!

It didn’t help that we had a function to attend which meant a load of food that was lovely but not cooked in the healthiest way, and a beautiful box of Indian sweets gifted to us, which only I would eat!

But I did try to stay on track for a couple of days. It wasn’t easy. I didn’t want to go back on all that effort I had put in!

I also popped into my local Iceland, where they stock frozen and chilled Slimming World products. If you buy 3 of their meals, you got some free, limited edition Muller Light yoghurts, which I wanted to try!

And I managed to do my dance class too! An hour of jumping around… I broke a sweat this week!

And the results?

Maintained!

wp-1485500591945.jpg

Neither up nor down! So I am still at 22.5lb off with Slimming World, And 27.5lb off since I started this journey. That elusive 0.5lb  is still out of my reach, but I WILL get there and hit that 2 stone mark!

So, until next week Peeps! Maybe that 0.5lb will be within my grasp next week!

Another week, another bunch of wonderful meals… and some exercise!

I have had some naughty things,

I have had some extra healthy things…

And I discovered baked oats! Ooooh! So good!

Simple recipe

40g plain oats
Half a Muller light vanilla yoghurt
1 teaspoon sweetener
1 small egg

  • Mix together
  • Bake at 180 C for 30 mins.
  • Enjoy

You can bake fruit in it too but that adds syn values to it as the fruit is cooked (an SW thing!) so I just ate it separately. And for one of them, I added chocolate chips too which made it rather sumptuous!

And I attempted my first Bhangra class too this week!

I am by no means a beginner to Bhangra. I have been dancing pretty much since I started to walk (though if you ask my mum, she’d say I started in her tummy!). But whatever I have learned has come from observation, practice and a natural rhythm inherited from my Pops!

But this class was a ladies beginners class, and at the same time as the kids’ Dhol drum lesson. It was convenient, and one of the other mums wanted to go too. I went, all dressed in my fitness gear, and sports bra (a must for the more generously chested of us. Bhangra involves a LOT of jumping!) and it waws 45 minutes of great fun, breathlessness, and realising I really needed to get fit! We were learning a routine, and remembering the moves in the correct order was hard enough!

True bhangra has never been touted as a ladies dance in the Punjab. At functions, we would probably do a more sedate version. The real ladies dancing is called giddha, which I also do, which has song rhymes that you dance too. Nowadays, however, you have more female bhangra teams and they use more or less the same moves as the men. It is very energetic, and some would say not that ladylike!

I survived it, though, and was told my body moves naturally to the beat (as I said, it’s in the blood!) so I hope to try it again next week. At least I will be managing one physical activity a week! (This class was on Wednesday evening… I am still aching!)

And on to the important announcement…

This week…

I lost another 1lb!

2017-01-20_06-42-37

That makes 22.5lb down since I started Slimming World, and 27.5lb in total on this journey…That leaves 0.5lb to go until I hit my 2 stone loss!

I have not been this weight since university I think!

I am so proud of myself!

And I am off to finish my chicken and chips… not diet at all, for my dinner now! See, now I have that control in place, I can still eat naughtily, and make up for it in the week!

Until next week my dear peeps!

Another week, another load of lovely meals!

And one morning I made quark pancakes, with bacon and Agave Nectar for breakfast! Yum!

Today, as I weighed in, in the morning, I had a rather heavy lunch of Samosas followed by Indian sweets called Besan, courtesy of some parents at Nursery!

The samosas were from a mum who’s daughter had a birthday. They usually bring sweets in for the other kids, and she brought in homemade, still warm, samosas for the teachers! And another little boy’s mum, just had a baby girl, so the dad brought in the sweets!

Lunch!

I did add fruit as a starter so it wasn’t all naughty!

And today’s result?

Another 1lb down!

But the best thing? Another certificate from Slimming World!

I have lost over 1.5 stone with them so far, and 26.5 lb since the start of my journey in the summer, so I have 1.5lb left until I hit my 2 stone target!!!

I did mention that I wanted to try and start some sort of exercise too, so I could tone up the little apron of skin that is currently being very well hidden around my belly… so next week, on Wednesdays, while to kids are having their dhol lesson, I will be trying out the ladies Bhangra class! It is a beginners one, and yes, I already know how to dance the Bhangra,  but I figured it would be a bit of fun!

So, next week, I will have that to report back on too!!!!!

Unitl then my dear Peeps! Have a great weekend!!!!

(Off to eat Pizza … oops!!!)
