#WritePhoto – Portal

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

I thought I’d continue the adventures of Barbie and Ken. A little limerick-al today!

Said Barbie to Ken one day
“I don’t want to go that way
That portal looks dirty,
No, don’t get all flirty
If my shoes get ruined, you’ll pay!”
Said Ken to Barbie ” Oh Babe,
Just trust me please, I pray
Just through there we’ll go
And you’ll find the snow
I’m sure there’s even a sleigh!”
“Just kill me now,” she said
“Oh God, I’d rather be dead
Than to sit on a crate
With your dressed up mate!”
And she left Ken scratching his head
“These women are too hard to please
Said Ken, “She can be such a tease”
“I’ve tried everything.
I really can’t win
Is it time to find a new squeeze?”

To be continued… Will Ken give up??? Has Barbie lost her man???

Christmas Cookies! ( Oh And Injury Report # 1045, or something like that!) #ThrowbackThursday

Thought I’d share a delicious recipe for cookies, seeing as I will be making these again soon!

Well, despite the sickness, and general craziness of the weekend, I decided to bake cookies. I like to take a big batch to school for the staff room, and these shortbread lovelies are melt in the mouth yum too!

Armed with my Cookie Press, I am ready!

2015-12-13-18.46.52.jpg.jpeg

It’s a simple recipe.

500g Butter, softened
200g Caster Sugar
2 Teaspoons Vanilla extract
500g Plain Flour
1) Preheat oven to 180 Degrees C/Gasmark 4
2) Cream butter and sugar together unil fluffy
3) Add vanilla extract and then mix in the flour well.
4) Load up that press and get aiming at the baking tray!

Bake for 10-12 minutes.

Voila!

But these things are never uneventful, where I am concerned, and just for good measure, and to prove my blood and sweat goes into everything I do, I proceeded to burn myself on the oven!

I had to cover it with a dressing too, as it was (and still is) very painful! OUCH!!!

#WRITESPIRATION #144 52 WEEKS IN 52 WORDS WEEK 49 – Waterfall Secrets @sacha_black

Sacha’s #Writespiration prompt this week:

Your challenge is to write your story using the weekly theme/prompt and write it in just 52 words…. EXACTLY, no more, no less.

writespiration-2017

This week  I want you to write about what lays behind a waterfall.

The stench was coming from behind the curtain of water falling ahead of them.
“What do you think, Inspector?”
DI Jones looked at the waterfall. They’d looked everywhere else.
“Get the team to go in.”
***
A few hours later, three body bags lay in front of him.
What a hiding place!

One-Liner Wednesday – #1LinerWeds – Hot Water Bottle!

On days like these, God bless my hot water bottle!

20171205_2135181431126869.jpg

I don’t function well in the cold. My whole body goes on go-slow! This photo, taken last night, shows me with my wonderful companion at night! I was ready to just go to bed because the cold was deep within me, but as soon as I got my feet warm, I felt ready to do all sorts of little jobs that I had been putting off!

Love me a good hot water bottle!

Colleen’s Weekly #Poetry Tuesday #Haiku #Senryu #MicroPoetry – STARK & TRAP

There I was, thinking Colleen’s Synonym challenge would be done after her November Nano absence… but guess what… She’s only gone and decided that she’s keeping it up! So we will have two words now, that we can’t use, as we need to find synonyms instead! Thanks, Colleen!!

This week she’s given us :

Stark & Trap

So here’s a haiku
