A Sister’s Wish #40 #brothersbirthday

image

Pulling one from the archives out.

My darling brother… another year older… wiser? I’m not so sure! But full of love!

Happy 40th birthday darling bro xxx

It’s my little brother’s birthday today. The first he’s celebrating as a daddy to two.
I can’t believe how fast time flies…
It only seems like yesterday that we hated each other and bickered and argued at every opportunity…
When that subtle change occurred, when “I hate you, I wish you had been a sister, not a brother” became “I love you and wouldn’t let anything in this world harm you” I don’t know, but it did, and honestly, I feel blessed to have a brother as loving and sensitive, and caring as you.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there for me, whether physically or emotionally, and thank you for giving me such an amazing bhabi, and my beautiful nephews.
I wish you the best birthday, and many, many more to come.

I wish you luck
I wish you love
I wish you blessings
Sent from above
I wish you happiness
I wish you joy
I wish you sloppy kisses
From your little boy
I wish you strength
I wish you all that I may
But most of all
I wish you happy birthday

13 Thoughts For My Newly Teenage Son #HappyBirthdayLilMan And Birthday Thoughts For My Mum #HappyBirthdayMum

Well, it’s here.

I feel old…

I am officially a mother of a TEENAGER!

Not a baby, toddler, child or tween, but a real TEEN!

Yes, Lil Man officially turned 13 at 3.08am this morning.

He may be small in stature, (hence the Lil Man alias) but he is big of heart and full of personality.

Bless him, I am so proud of him!

What can I say to a newly turned teen?

Life was very different when I was that age, not least the fact that I was a girl, suffering the hormonal imbalances of a female, not experiencing the growing pains and voice breaking joy of a boy!

But there are a few words of wisdom I’ll try to impart upon him.

  1. Be yourself – too many kids buckle under the pressure of trying to live up to crazy expectations of others.
  2. Work hard – yes, I know school feels like a drag, but seriously, this is the time to lay the foundations of your future. Get your homework done, so you can relax, and not stress at the last minute. Do the best you can, then no one should have room for complaint.
  3. Play hard – When it’s downtime, enjoy it. Get out there in the fresh air, make memories with your friends. Seriously, when you’re older you want to have other people in your thoughts, not computer games…
  4. Embrace change – the next few years are going to bring a good few changes to your body. They may feel awkward at the time, but don’t worry, you’ll grow into them, and I’ll be there to take the photos to embarrass you with, when you are a handsome young man!
  5. Good manners cost nothing – Always treat people with the respect you wish to be treated with.
  6. Be sensible with Social Media – it’s so easy nowadays, to get caught up in the whirl that is social media. Remember there is a limit, and that once something is out there on the world wide web, it is nigh on impossible to totally delete.
  7. Respect everyone – you’ll get to that stage soon enough, where you start to show an interest in others romantically. Remember that person is someone’s child, someone’s sibling too. Treat them how you would hope your own loved ones are treated.
  8. Friendships last – good friends are few and far between. Make sensible choices about who you hang around with, and remember that some of the friends you make in these teen years will be with you throughout your life.
  9. Do your chores – BORING, yes, I know, but essential. Learning to cook a little, keep your room clean (a lot!) and knowing how to do laundrey not only helps your poor mother, but gives youa good basis for the life skills you’ll need in the future.
  10. Cleanliness is next to Godliness – please don’t EVER skimp on having a shower! You’re a teen now, smelly and hormonal. I will know. Full Stop!
  11. Be honest with me – if you ever make a mistake, don’t be scared. I may be the biggest killjoy in your life when I tell you to get off the phone or screen, but I am also your biggest supporter. If you can admit doing something you shouldn’t have done, I can be there to help you.
  12. Be a strong person –  (or Man Up, as you like to say) stand up for your rights and those of others you know are being wronged. If you know something is being said that is hurtful, don’t join in like a sheep. Have faith and don’t be afraid of being the one who speaks his mind, and not that of the majority.
  13. Remember – most of all – I love you lots, and I always will. No matter how old you are, you will always be my baby, my first born, my son ❤

Here’s wishing you a most special thirteenth birthday Lil Man, you are very precious to all of us!

And you are extra special to your Nani, or my mum, since you decided to make an appearance on her 55th birthday! Sorry mum, I can’t top that as a gift, but my brother may be able to equal it this year, with the imminent arrival of niece/nephew #2!!!

A very happy birthday to the most special mother a girl could ask for; a role model I aspire to emulate, a guide through good times and bad, and most of all, a very special friend.

Love you squillions Mum! Happy Birthday!!!!! ❤

🎂🎉 Happy Birthday, Lil Princess! A Little Mix Experience!

Today is the day my little baby, my Lil Princess hits double figures!

I can’t believe I am a mother to not one but two kids aged 10 and above!

She has requested a few things, as kids do, but the main present, well she had that already! Just this last Saturday actually!

Long gone are the days of mooning over One Direction – check out her 7-year-old drawings of them here – instead, it is time for Little Mix fever!

We have spent the last few weeks hearing their cd on repeat in anticipation of her birthday treat.

A few months back, when I went to the local theatre, I noticed an ad for a show called The Little Mix Experience. A tribute band who played a whole show in the Little Mix way. And it was a few days before her birthday…

Now, I don’t know about you, but I am not keen on the idea of spending around £100 per ticket to see a band… not at her tender years anyway, so this was an ideal opportunity to introduce her to concert culture, in a controlled environment!

We decided that it would be a great treat for her to go with a few friends to see this show.

So, on Saturday, Lil Princess, along with 4 special friends, and one of the mums (who is my special friend) went to see her first concert!

She managed to wrangle a free glowstick from the merchandise man, as I was talking to the lady at the box office, by saying it was her birthday, and then I felt obliged to buy the little bear too!

The show?

Well, we had an awesome time! The audience was full of families and young girls who were Little Mix Crazy and the band didn’t disappoint!

They sang a great mix of new and old hits, along with a couple of covers, and got the whole audience singing and dancing!

And at the end, they did a meet and greet, which was so busy, with all these mini Little Mixers clamouring for photos with the (not real) Little Mix that we ended up slipping away!

I managed to get a couple of videos of them singing (excuse me crooning along to Reggaeton Lento, I couldn’t help it!) for your viewing pleasure!

I am currently trying to remove the CD surreptitiously from the car stereo… but it’s not easy, and to be honest, I quite like Little Mix too!

All that remains is to say Happy Birthday to my gorgeous Lil Princess.

Stop growing up so fast, and making me feel old!

Love you to the moon and back, my sweet girl ❤

A poem I penned for her a few years ago

The biggest blessing of my life,
Becoming a mummy, after being a wife.
I love them both equally, yes, it’s true
But with my girl, the things we can do!
Shopping, dressing up, hair styles, nails
And when she’s older, advice about males!
She amazes and frustrates in equal amounts
But the love that she gives, now that’s what counts.
When there are tears, it tears at my heart,
I hate it whenever we are apart.
The giggles and laughter, that beautiful sound,
She lights up my life, when she is around.
I love my girl, and I’m lucky to be
The mummy to someone so very crazy!

Fickle Nickle!

This weekend, after realising that I am allergic to my Pandora bracelet, Hubby Dearest worked really had to arrange for an exchange for one of their (more expensive) Rose Gold ones!

This nickle allergy!

Honestly, I hate having lots of money spent on me, I don’t need expensive things! But my body obviously has other ideas!

And something else I don’t like, is exchanging gifts, as I feel that what was chosen for me has such sentimental value, but in order to actually wear the item, it had to be changed!

Still, after a whole load of phone calls and emails, and explaining to Pandora that if we exchanged, we would end up spending more, as the Rose Gold is a more expensive bracelet to furnish with charms in the future, we ended up at the shops on Sunday to change it over!

And the whole allergy experience ended up as a poem!

I am quite a simple person
I don’t have expensive tastes
But because of reactions and allergies
I can’t be bought things in haste

Would you believe a little metal
That goes by the name of Nickle
Can cause such a commotion!
My body, oh so fickle!

Now my birthday’s a great example
Of my body’s annoying habit
Having reactions to gifts
First time was my Fitbit!

Religiously I wore it
Counting steps as I waled, in a flash
But after a few weeks of wearing
I came out in a terrible rash!

2017-12-05_071479242570.jpg

We exchanged it for another
More expensive, and rash-proof, we thought
But alas the same thing happened
And so we returned what we bought!

this year my Hubby gifter me
With a bracelet of the Pandora sort
But guess what? Allergic!
It contains Nickle – Who’da thought?!

But after much disctussion
Phone calls and emails galore
I’m now the owner of a rose gold one
And suffer rashes no more!

Driven to Drink! Nursery Made Me Into A Lush! #Throwback Thursday

My first class was truly a baptism of fire… Here’s a recap from how I was feeling two years ago!

*Writing while under the influence… may be dangerous, but what the heck!

Now, I’m not a big drinker, I never have been… I may partake of a tipple or 3 when we are out with friends, but never with family, and generally not at home, because I have far too much to do, then I just collapse into bed!

But this is the second time this term, I have crowned my week on a Friday evening with a bottle glass of wine or 2.

Does teaching drive you to drink?

Well, I wouldn’t go so far as to say YESSSSSSS!!!!

But I am definitely in need of stress relief more than normal!  I am being good… not writing too much about school… it could get me in trouble, you know what I mean, so this one isn’t automatic on my Facebook page, where friends, family and acquaintances are so lovely as to like my page!

(You know what I’m sayin?!?!)

Well, this is glass number 2 talking, and I think number 3 might follow shortly.  Number 1 lasted a mere 5 minutes… I thought I was sipping slowly, then the bottom of the glass stared back at me as I tried to get another drop! (yup, just ordered my next one from my personal bartender for the evening)

Lush! See, I told you!  I haven’t even finished number 2 and Hubby Dearest asked if I’ve already had enough! Hell no!!!

Well, what can I say…. maybe a a haiku will help…

My first teaching class

A baptism of fire, in short

Little Sh*ts know nil!

Now let’s tanka-fie it!

Yet they fill nappies with speed

And bite and scratch with delight!

Oh what a week it’s been! And to top it off, we have Lil Man’s schools to apply for, and there is the open days to attend this weekend, football training and matches, Punjabi school for Lil Princess, and don’t forget the dreaded homework!!!!!!

Ok, I shall stop now, before I write something silly!!!!!!

Peace out Peeps…

*looks around… Where’s that refill??!
