A Quick Question For All You Author-y Types!

wp-1455886627757.png

Well hello, there all of you!

I was just wondering, for any of you that are published authors… or nearly there… when you have published a book/novel/novella, what has your total word count been at?

And if you have published a compilation of short stories… how many stories in your book, and what length were they?

And what about poems….? What is a good length or amount of poems in an anthology?

A whole bunch of questions, sorry!

Blogger Appreciation Award

baa

Another new award this week graced my inbox… this time from my amazing blog sis Erika!  Now if you aren’t familiar with Erika’s blog, you need to head over there ASAP! If you think I am positive, you need to read hers!  She is a fountain of positivity, and her posts are truly inspirational! Love ya sis! Thank you so much for nominating me and with such great company! I feel blessed to have the blogily I do on here!

On to the award… The Blogger Appreciation Award.  Touches me to think that someone appreciates my blog, or me! 😛

The Rules of the Award

(1) Thank the blogger who nominated you, link back to their site – ✅

(2) Use the award image – ✅

(3) Write a paragraph of something positive about yourself –✅

(4) Nominate and notify as many bloggers as you wish. I

It’s always hard to write something positive about yourself.. you feel like you are almost boasting.  And that is so not what I am about! I totally believe that we all have some form of positivity within us, and different people help that positivity to become visible.

Similarly for me, my family bring out the fierce protectiveness that I have for them inside me. They bring out the love that I have, bubbling over in my heart for them. My friends bring out the loyalty that I have. The children I teach bring out the fun in me. So, yes, there is positivity from me, I am loyal, loving, fun, protective, happy, imaginative, and just generally me!

As for nominations… There are so many bloggers I would love to nominate for this. I appreciate all the bloggers I follow, as well as the ones who follow me.  I always wish I had more time to interact even more with everyone.

Allow me to pass this award on to all my blogily, near and far.  Please feel free to accept this award if you have read this post 🙂

I appreciate, and love each and every one of you, and hope we are all connected, as we are, for many years to come!

Not So Hotpoint – The Finale!

hotpoint logo

A few of my friends called me or messaged me today to let me know that the whole Hotpoint fiasco was being discussed on This Morning today and that they had stated that it could take them up to 4 years to actually fix all the issues.

It is horrifying to read some of the cases out there where the machines actually have caught fire, and wiped out houses, causing so much damage, and yet they still can’t get their skates on and fix issues any faster.

I can happily say that our issues with them have finally been put to bed, but not without Hubby Dearest and his relentless contacting them.

Anyone who has any issues with them, please don’t give up.

Keep on hassling them.

You will be passed from pillar to post.

You will have to repeat your story to several people, despite them having all your details on record.

You will have to fight for what you are entitled to.

We managed to get full refunds for bot the washing machine and tumble dryer which were affected. Along the way, we found that our old dryer, which had had to be replaced after only a couple of years, was also an affected model, so after much argument, we got a full refund for that too!

And an extra £250 for compensation on top.  Now that, Hubby Dearest really had to fight for, but we got over £1000 from them in the end and the cheques are with us, thank goodness.

One thing is for sure, we won’t be buying Hotpoint anymore!

The Fallout from Curriculum Changes – How It Affects Real People

unhappy

You may, or may not, have read my recent post, an open letter to the Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan, regarding the changes to the Primary curriculum and the unrealistic marking policies.

Well, today, because of that idiotic policy, I had tears in my eyes.

I cried.

Seeing my Lil Man totally give up.

He’s been pretty strong, up to now.  Saying he doesn’t care, it doesn’t matter. He is tryng his best.

Today we were doing some homework, and it was maths. Not his best subject.  Neither is it my strong point.

He found it really hard. He didn’t want too much help, as he said the teacher needed to be able to really assess it to see how much he didn’t understand.

He did what he could, or guessed it, then the aggression I have witnessed in him since then… well, I couldn’t say or do anything to console him. We sat and talked, or rather I talked, and reassured, and he listened, but he wouldn’t look me in the eye.  When I caught a look at him, his eyes were reddened, and he was surreptitiously turning away to wipe tears.

HOW DARE YOU, BRITISH GOVERNMENT, ALLOW MY CHILD, AND POSSIBLY MANY MORE, TO BECOME SO INSECURE ABOUT THEMSELVES?

I let him go, to bat a ball around, and sat there and the tears welled up. I feel so helpless.

I’m sorry I may be ranting, but I hate to see or hear my family, and my children, in particular, feel so low, or upset.  And I cannot bear to see them hurting, especially when I can’t do anything…

Hugh’s Photo Challenge: Week 13 – Love

hughs-weekly

Love… That is the word prompt for Hugh’s Photo Challenge this week.  A photo of something that encompasses what love means to you… Check out the challenge here.

There are so many different types of love… from family to friends, platonic to romantic.

What to choose!?

Well, I decided to look to my wonderful parents for inspiration for this challenge. they are truly my inspiration for when it comes to love, and seeing how two people can overcome anything, as long as love is there. I couldn’t choose one photo, there are 4 I have put together in a collage.  I hope you can see the love they have, emanating from each shot.

And the poem, this time, is one I wrote when it was their anniversary.

A love like yours
We wish to achieve
That blanket of life
We want to weave
That unerring faith
You have in each other
The respect that you show
For one another
You’re there for us
Whenever the need
The advice you give
We’ll always heed
If we only had half
Of what you had
We’d be so lucky
And we’d be glad
A marriage built
On respect and love
You truly are a match
Made up above.
Ritu 2015

I hope you enjoyed 🙂
