Spidey’s Serene Sunday #412 and #JusJoJan the 29th, 2023 – Exercise

We’re doing an amalgamation of posts here today, with Spidey (with his newly spruced-up graphic!), and Linda’s #JusJoJan, together!

Welcome to the daily prompt! Today is your twenty ninth prompt for Just Jot it January 2023, and it’s brought to you by Wendy. Thank you, Wendy! Please be sure to visit Wendy’s blog to read her post and say hello. And follow her while you’re there, if you’re not already.

Linda

Your prompt for JusJoJan, January 29th 2023, is “Exercise.” Use the word “Exercise” any way you’d like. Have fun writing!

“I am wonderwoman!

I wonder where my keys are.

I wonder why I went upstairs

I wonder where my mind has gone

I wonder who will annoy me today.”

The Hot Flush Club

Thanks, Spidey. That quote kinda sums up my life right now.

Perimenopause is a painful thing, my Peeps. I know many of you are experiencing it at the same time as me.

Some have been through it, some are approaching or not near yet, and then there is the other half of the population who don’t know what happens to the women in their lives…

One minute your missus/mum/sister/friend is as she usually is. The next, you have a screaming banshee/blubbing mess standing in front of you, quite possibly fanning herself as she negotiates a hot flush or scratching her skin/unmentionables as the dryness is driving her insane. Or she is looking at you without a clue in the world. Why was she even there? What did she come to say/do?

Welcome to the World of Perimenopause!

Did you know that Menopause – that big word that we have bandied about forever actually only lasts for ONE day?

It is Perimenopause that is the killer, as your body begins to negotiate the withdrawal symptoms of hormones slowly seeping away from your body, rendering you a loon/monster/incapable. (Or none of the above, if you’re lucky.)

Then once you’ve hit a whole year without a bleed… that day, that ONE DAY is Menopause day.

Then you are in Post-Menopause, where you might still feel weird things…

But apparently, nothing is as crazy as that ‘peri’ part.

So I began my initial journey when extreme tiredness was unexplainable, I was snapping at my family, my joints were aching for no reason whatsoever, despite all investigations being undertaken. My weight crept up despite me trying so hard to eat well, and lose it. Sleepless nights, fitful sleep when I got it, cold sweats, and what I now know were hot flushes.

Then I started to feel this brain fog. My thoughts were unclear. And I could not remember the simplest of things, despite being in the middle of a conversation about the same damn thing! It came to a head when I was forgetting the names of the children in my class.

My Boss is brilliant. She is a headteacher who is going through the same right now. I have several colleagues who are too. We spoke at length. And I was convinced to go and speak to the GP.

I did.

And they first tried to send me off with antidepressants. (A common occurrence when misdiagnosis is happening due to GPs not actually having enough knowledge of Perimenopause.) I am the least depressed person around!

But I persevered, and we started our journey with HRT>

Can I say that I am feeling so much better. There are still things that aren’t perfect, but I can remember more, and I feel a little less tired, and that is a good thing.

I take special vitamins, too, and I have embarked upon an exercise routine, set by my son, to help build my core strength, and hopefully feel better all round. And I try and take my 11k steps every day, too.

I am also very open about what I am feeling. As long as my family know what I am going through, they can support me through it, as I support them through their own ups and downs.

It’s a ‘give and take’ game, life. Don’t you think?

So, Peeps, anyone want to share how they have coped with the dreaded Change, whether as a woman, or a male watching someone else go through it?

#SoCS & #JusJuJan Jan. 28, 2023 – Throw The Towel In

Linda’s SoCS and JusJoJan prompt…

Your prompt for #JusJoJan the 28th and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “throw in the towel.” Use the phrase “throw in the towel” somewhere in your post. Enjoy!

I’m late!

Well, ate in my own books. I know there is no time limit for these posts as long as they are on the right day.

But if you follow me, you know I am a stickler for scheduling these regular posts at 5am in the morning.

Fear not, my fellow #JusJoJan-ers! I did not decide to throw the towel in! (See what I did there!)

I was exhausted, and I had another personal issue to deal with last night, which meant that I couldn’t write or schedule this post earlier, but it ended up being quite handy since I could use the given phrase!

I’m pretty hardy like that. If I commit to something, it will take a huge thing to shake that promise I made to myself or someone else.

But, having said that, I don’t believe that if you can’t complete something, it doesn’t make you a quitter.

Sometimes we have to throw in the towel before we want because the goal may be unfeasible, or the situation we are in means we cannot complete what we started.

Oh, come on, Ritu, stop getting philosophical on a Saturday. That’s for Spidey and Sunday!

Chai And A Chat #220 #ChaiAndAChat with Jan 23rd, 2023 #JusJoJan – Paintbrush

And it’s the fourth Monday of the year!

Have you got a drink? I am ready for mine this morning.

(Adding a little #JusJoJan to the prompt with the word Paintbrush by Paula Light. Thanks, Linda!)

  • If we were having chai, I’d start by telling you that we woke on Monday to more SNOW! That was unexpected. Three inches fell over a couple of hours, and the funny thing was that’s I drove towards work, it disappeared, so if I didn’t have the photographic evidence, no one would have believed that it had happened.
  • If we were having chai, I’d tell you it was, as always, a busy week at work. We had staff doing the hokey cokey in and out, some volunteers in, some not in, and one class had lots of absence, whereas the other was a hardy bunch, full pretty much all day!
  • If we were having chai, I’d say that I read Harry’s memoir, or should I say finished it, this weekend, and I was moved. You’ll see my review in a few days on here as the end of January is around the corner!
  • If we were having chai, I’d tell you I managed to stick to my weights programme, and if I am not mistaken, I have lost a couple of lbs over the last three weeks, so something is working! (Still no new words, though…)
  • If we were having chai, I’d mention the issues. I had with EE and my new phone, which was posted about on Thursday, so I shan’t rehash that one, but another issue we came across was the tutoring company that we pay to help Lil Man with one of his A-Level subjects. It is a large company, Go Student, and the tutoring is online. We paid, as we do, this month, but weren’t credited for the right amount of sessions. It turns out that our customer service rep is no longer available, but no one told us that, so despite scheduling a call in, we got no contact, and instead I had to engage in a conversation on WhatsApp, with a bot called Felix, who kept on using hug emojis! It took two days to finally get some sense from them, and we are now back. with the sessions we should have had, but what a rigmarole!
  • If we were having chai, I would need to mention my darling, Sonu Singh. It was our little furry munchkin’s 9th birthday! I can’t believe he’s been with us for that long, to be honest! Bless his furry little socks!

This week it’s going to be a manic one. We have events that are taking staff out of the classroom, so emergency cover is needed, as well as a little trip to the Library with our children! We are also celebrating Chinese New Year all week, so will be getting the paintbrushes out to have a go at some Chinese calligraphy with the kids!

And while you’re here, did you sign up for my mailing list? I am in the middle of writing an exclusive Chickpea Curry Lit story for my subscribers, and there will be news, tips and even recipes! You know you want to join… go on! Click the pic below to sign up!

Spidey’s Serene Sunday #411 and #JusJoJan the 22nd, 2023 – Seasonal

We’re doing an amalgamation of posts here today, with Spidey (with his newly spruced-up graphic!), and Linda’s #JusJoJan, together!

Welcome to the daily prompt! Today is your twenty second prompt for Just Jot it January 2023, and it’s brought to you by Kay. Thank you, Kaye! Please be sure to visit Kaye’s blog to read her post and say hello. And follow her while you’re there, if you’re not already.

Linda

Your prompt for JusJoJan, January 22nd 2023, is “Seasonal.” Use the word “Seasonal” any way you’d like. Have fun writing!

“Kung Hei Fat Choi!”

Me!

It’s the Chinese/Lunar New Year today.

A seasonal celebration with no specific date, as it is calculated by the amount moons in a year.

This year we are celebrating the Year of the rabbit.

I got excited because that is my Chinese Zodiac animal. I’m apparently a wood rabbit, to be precise

Forecasts and predictions say it will be an intense year for Rabbits.

Some ups and downs… Isn’t that always the case? But, whatever this year holds for us, I just wanted to wish you …

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

#SoCS & #JusJuJan Jan. 21, 2023 – Count On It

Linda’s SoCS and JusJoJan prompt…

Your prompt for #JusJoJan the 21st and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “count on it.” Use the phrase “count on it” somewhere in your post. Enjoy!

A simple one, this…

If there is a doorframe, table, chair, or anything. in my way, you can count on it for me to walk into it!

I am one of the world’s clumsiest people and have even broken my toe on a radiator pipe that is so flush with the wall that most would say it was impossible. (And that was a few months before I got married!)

Nope. I did it!
