But I Smile Anyway...

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!

Well, I’m back from my daytrip to the seaside with my little lovelies!

It was, all in all, a wonderful trip, though I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked, as I was being surrogate mum to one little girl who’s mummy couldn’t come along too… It was a great day for the kids, especially many who hadn’t been to a beach before, and a lovely bonding time for parent and child too!

We collected shells, crabs (dead and alive!) and seaweed, and paddled in the waves.Β  Ate ‘sandy’ sandwiches, and bought ice cream, made sandcastles, and dug out ‘boats’, made sand hurdles for the kiddies to jump over, among many other things!

And the big one for me was taking all these people on a train!Β  Luckily the staff I work with have been doing this for a long time, so I was in good hands, and so were all the children and parents!

But fret not, I got a few photos! Not sure what the quality will be like, but here goes!

The beautifully sandy beaches of Margate!

One biggish 'dead' crab!

One of the staff managed to catch a small crab, and a baby one too, and a shrimp! But I didn’t get a picture of that!

Shells! I love a good shell!

You gotta bury your feet into the soft sand! Good exfoliation too!

A good old stick of rock or two, got to be done on a seaside trip!

And there we have it, my first class trip, as a teacher, to the seaside!

Sonu Singh Had A Sting… Oh, And Poor Lil Man…!

Lil Sonu Singh was feeling affectionate this morning and voluntarily climbed on my Minionated Pyjama lap. I love those moments!

When I got home from work, he was outside with Hubby Dearest. I got outside, just in time  to see him animatedly chase a bee, and pounce, then get stung…

Poor baby, he was constantly licking his paw, and wouldn’t let us look at it for ages…I saw a slight swelling and we cleaned as best we could, and now he is chilling,  paw in the air, on my bed!

Talking of my babies with injuries, Lil Man was off school as he got a football kicked smack bang in the middle of his face yesterday, total accident, but basically he has mild concussion.  So off school today, and probably tomorrow. He was up at 4am with headache and blurry vision… So now he is thankfully asleep again, but I have been up for 18 hours now, fitted in drop offs, a day at placement school , and the rest of mummy stuff, while Hubby Dearest had Lil Man, and took him to the Hospital.
Forgive me if I make no sense…!

For Our Unique Children…

When I read this for the first time, it hit a nerve, so close to my heart. I printed it off, and put it in my classroom at the time.
All children are unique, they grow into unique adults. If they were all to achieve the same successes, and excel at everything they did, what a boring world we would live in … It’s good that some kids are good at maths, or literacy, and others are great in sport, or the arts. We need those strong in the sciences too, but they don’t have to be top in everything!
Equally we shouldn’t compare them… Two best friends might be polar opposites, academically, and in personality, but their two different halves, make a fantastic whole… Don’t spoil it by comparing them, and playing one off the other, so their friendship inevitably suffers…

Let’s love our children for what they are, not what others expect them to be.
