A family doesn’t need to be perfect; it just needs to be united – Unknown
In Unison there is Strength – Aesop
Everyone should strive to become a citizen of the world. Boundaries were created by Man, not the Creator. There’s no such thing as Them vs. Us. There is only We. – Suzy Kazem
Well done Spidey, you’ve unearthed some crackers there, which relate perfectly to my feelings about the whole EU referendum fiasco.
I was never sure who to vote for, as there was so much clashing information being bandied about by the two campaigning sides. But my choice was to Remain. My reasoning was for the future of my children, the opportunities that would arise from an ‘open world’, and a fear of the unknown.
Others I know who voted to Leave, had their own valid reasons. Many, who were older were saying they were around before the EEC, and they took part in those first votes. They knew what the country was capable of, without this added ‘support’ network, and generally, there was an air of nostalgia, with them harking back to the good old days. Some were voting so the promises of added funding to various national services would happen.
It’s too early to make sweeping statements about what will happen, and whether it was a mistake or not.
What is right or wrong, no one really knows, but whatever is going to happen, surely it is better to stay united and draw strength from each other, support one another.
We are like a large family, and as long as we are there for each other, we WILL cope with the ups and downs that are sure to face our nation.
Here’s hoping this is a chance for the politicians, who are the puppeteers in this whole circus, to really show us what is GREAT about GREAT Britain, and let’s hope that we can stay a UNITED Kingdom.
Peace out Peeps Have a united Sunday, and may you be blessed with sunshine, I fear we have rain!!!

So many different threads to this – leading up to it and afterwards. Just what might happen to the relationship between Scotland and England in the coming year will be intriguing at the very least.

Well what a show they’re putting on then!!!
I’m actually horrified reading some of the racism tweets and posts since the Brexit vote… Do these people not realize what a referendum is? Not a switch that suddenly cuts ties with Europe, but an indicator for the govt of the public’s views!!!

Just as Trump brought out of the (old white male*) cockroaches in our country out into the light…was nice to see the impromptu rally today of the pro-EU people in front of Parliament (a rally called off, but people showed up anyways). The scheduled Saturday pro-EU rally on Saturday should be be of some uplifting.
*as an old white male myself, i am embarrassed and ashamed of my demographic group.

That quite by Suzy Kazem speaks volunes on so many levels to me. This world has come to such a state of despair. The vast majority is always looking for someone to blame. If only those could we that if we all united, we could become while again. 😕

I agree with you here, Sis. It was a very difficult decision as to which way to vote, and I decided in the end to vote ‘leave.’ I didn’t realise that this decision would bring so much derision. I stand by my decision, and no, I am not a racist, nor uneducated, which is what some of the people who wanted to remain in the EU have classed us as.
I think it is time now to unite together and do all we can to show that we are indeed a GREAT Britain. 🙂

I am not so well informed about the details in the UK discussion. But I would have voted to remain too because I think real constructive changes need to be done together. But who knows, perhaps that is the way to create a new united Europe on a different base!

We live in interesting times, as the Chinese curse goes – now let’s see what happens next. I was also on the Remain side, as were most of my family and friends. Now we’re looking at this as an opportunity for (hopefully) positive change, even though the result was so disappointing. It’s all we can do, really 🙂

Listening to all the comments this looks like all hell has broken loose. I don’t think it will be as bad as most are saying just like it would be as good as some believe Britain had stayed. It’s going to take some adjustment. Now that it has been done, I think it would be best for everyone to look at this as an opportunity. Properly negotiated, I think both the EU and Britain can emerge unscathed. One thing it will do is to make the EU not take its members for granted.

Yes and let’s start by getting the generations in the UK reunited. There is an awful lot of hate about, the young attacking the older generation. The referendum has caused a virtual civil war. Yes let’s start with less hate here.
Apparently nothing is settled yet , have another referendum until the answer is what the younger generation want. Ireland did.
