“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” -Anne Lamott
Thanks for the reminder Spidey.
Think I needed that after my week.
What with stressful waits for observations then feedback, an unwell child causing sleepless nights, and an injured child, shutting his hand in a car door, I was ready to drop on Friday evening.
I came home and did my usual routine of cleaning the house from top to bottom, then sat down with my laptop to browse blog posts, as I do. Within half an hour, I kid you not, I had a streaming nose and the beginnings of a full-blown cold.
Seriously?
Life, after all you threw at me this week, you could at least have given me this weekend to just relax and unwind, not get ill!
But then, maybe it’s just life’s way of making us slow down.
I did rush out and get the grocery shopping done first thing on Saturday in the mini Beast From The East (yes, a little more snow over here, but not much for us!) then came home and just vegged out.
I spent time doing what I love – reading and sharing and interacting with my fellow bloggers, fed the family (obviously!) then spent the whole afternoon and early evening in bed!
Hubby Dearest popped out and got a totally unhealthy KFC for dinner, but at least it meant I didn’t have to cook!
I snoozed, and read, and topped up on cold meds.
And I fully intend for today to be a day similar to that.
Yes, I know what some of you will be saying: “Ritu – switch off from the blog for a few days. Just get yourself better!” But, my blog is not a stress for me at all. It is something I love, and what helps me relax. I have gone past the time where I was constantly checking stats, worrying about who was reading and liking. It’s more about the conversations that come from the posts I write. I love to read posts, and I absolutely love to ramble on in my posts! The next best thing to talking the hind legs off a donkey – I’m very good at that too!
For me ‘switching’ off from other duties, such as rushing around to make sure other family members are catered for, chilling in my PJ’s all day, being able to be worry-free about my own kids, that is ‘me’ time!
If I can squeeze in a manicure or a pedicure that is better, but as I am feeling unwell, just being home, cosy, with my fave people around me, and my blogily with me for company too, that is the best!
How would you ‘switch-off’ from life to get your batteries recharged?
Stay positive 🙂
Happy Sunday Peeps!

Very good advice, Spidey. I do get it too about the blog being a way of relaxing for you, it is like that for me sometimes too, and then when it does get too much, then I step back for a bit. I hope you are feeling better now Sis. 🙂

Get better Ritu. I unplug from blogging and FaceBook. My two biggest addictions. I get plenty of rest and just read.

The sun and nature is my battery charger or a meditation but it is happening too rarely in during the past years. I am already happy when I have 30 minutes on my couch with a cup of tea at night before I go to bed. The rest of the time I feel like being constantly on the go or getting things done. My favorite way to charge my batteries is a time-out in California. It is amazing what that can do.
Hope you are doing better soon, sis!

Heaven help anyone who tries to schedule things on my Sundays. I like to rise naturally at least ONE day a week. Sure we do things on Sunday, but leisurely, no scheduled events, no pressing matters.Wanna go to the zoo, the gym, visit Grandma? Okay, we’ll get there when we get there.
I am so sorry to know you spent your weekend feeling poorly. Also KFC sounds really good right now.
Take care x

Hi Ritu, so sorry to hear that the cold got worse. I hope you can rest today and feel better later. I understand completely how much your blog means to you. To me it is my safe place my relaxation too. Hubby often moans if I blog when he is around so last night I stayed up into the early hours to catch up.
The snow is heavy here it must of snowed all night.
Have a good day Sis and please get better.💜
