August 1: Flash Fiction Challenge

Charli’s Carrot Ranch 99-word prompt this week:

August 1, 2019, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about a rock star. You can feature a central character or write about the feeling like a rock star. Go where the prompt leads!

Could’ve Been a Rockstar

“ROCKSTAR IN MAKING SHOT ON STAGE!”
Minnie wiped a tear from her cheek as she scanned the article on the front page of the local paper.
He had indeed been someone destined for more than a few shifts in the Walmart down the road.
Jamie Smith.
Simple boy, with a talent for playing his guitar and singing.
It was the end of term, and school had its annual talent show.
The audience was held captive, in more than one way.
During his performance, gunmen stormed in, opening fire around the hall.
Jamie was one of the first to fall.

I need to give a little credit to Lil Man. I told him about the prompt and he said why not write about a boy who is a famous rockstar and gets shot on stage. A little different to his initial idea, but all credit to him for giving me that thought!

Destination #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt:

What if the weather had been different that day?

What if the fine fog was getting denser and slowly creeping out of the woods?

What if Mother decided that it wouldn’t be safe for her daughter to set off into the woods to deliver a cake to her unwell mother?

What if Little Red Riding Hood refused to go the required destination, scared of the creepy fog?

What if Father or Mother decided to brave the fog instead?

Would the wolf still have followed?

Always a lot of ‘what ifs’…

Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday (On a Thursday) #Poetry Challenge No. 138 #SynonymsOnly

It’s Tuesday, and that means Colleen’s Tanka Challenge! Of course, just providing a couple of words would be far too simple, so we have two words, yes, but we can’t use them! Only synonyms allowed!

One Liner Wednesday – #1LinerWeds – School vs. Holidays

The love I have for my job is measurable by the amount of my vacation days that I have already spent in school… Vacation days – 3 (excluding weekend) Days spent at school – 3!

Ritu 2019

Yup, the school holidays are here already and I, for one have been so looking forward to them, but so far, have spent each day in school because I have a shiny new classroom to set up!

Well, not quite shiny, as it is in the oldest part of the school, and some say there is a friendly apparition that has been seen there too… ooer!

But it is new to me, and I am trying to make my mark, as best I can.

The only frustrating thing is that there is one piece of furniture I am waiting for, and it hasn’t arrived yet. possibly not until the end of the holidays.

It means I have a huge pile of boxes in the middle of the room, whilst I wait for the cupboard to arrive. Still, I have moved the majority of the furniture around to my liking, and displays are pretty much done. I have sorted the art cupboard out and set my stationary station (see what I did there?!) up too.

My next task, today, along with Lil Princess, is to set up the reading corner. I want to transform it into a little Hundred Acre Wood section, with Pooh Bear and all his friends!

Winnie the Pooh
I’ll be putting that up in there too!

I will share pics when I am finished!

For Linda’s #1LinerWeds challenge, though that was a bit more than a line!
