Carrot Ranch Flash Fiction Rodeo Challenge 5 – To Love and Honour #FFRodeo #Twitterflash

So, I am trying my hand at the fifth challenge by the Carrot Ranchers for their Flash Fiction Rodeo!

There are many rules and regulations, but the essence is a story told in eleven tweets. with only nine words per sentence, so 99 words. And the hash tags #FFRodeo and #Twitterflash must be in each tweet too!

Character limits… word limits… tweet limits! Phew! But I did it! Here goes!

P.S. – These are interactive tweets… you can like, etc from here!!!

Now let me tell you an age-old story today.
One where boy loves girl and girl loves boy.
But their love is forbidden: their families sworn enemies.
Meet Ameena, a Muslim girl, and Jas, a Sikh.
Thrown together by fate: in a broken down elevator.
Hours spent in close proximity; attraction begins to bloom
Clandestine meetings in the months that follow, feeding obsessions.
Disaster strikes when they are discovered by their families.
A hastily arranged marriage for Ameena, thwarted by Jas.
Both families at war; lives cut short; honour killings.
Two hearts, one soul, forever beating to one rhythm.

WRITESPIRATION #137 52 WEEKS IN 52 WORDS WEEK 42 – Scared @sacha_black #MeToo

Sacha’s #Writespiration prompt this week:

Your challenge is to write your story using the weekly theme/prompt and write it in just 52 words…. EXACTLY, no more, no less.

writespiration-2017

Next week we will have missed Halloween, so today’s challenge is to write 52 words of a character that is utterly terrified.

Inspired by the hashtag #MeToo that is doing the rounds on Twitter and Facebook at the moment, highlighting abuse that has been hidden for so long.

Those eyes. They won’t stop looking.
Those feet. They won’t stop following.
Those hands. They won’t stop touching.
Those fingers. They won’t stop digging.
My mouth. It won’t open.
My voice. It won’t work.
My feet. They won’t walk away.
My eyes. They won’t tear away from that menacing gaze.
Petrified.

Tower – #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week:

“So, whaddya think, babe?”

Ken gestured towards an old ruin, a single tower standing amongst some dilapidated arches and crumbling steps.

Barbie sucked in her breath… and exhaled fast, taking several fast gulps of air before she remembered what her Yoga teacher had taught her about calming herself, and slowed down the intakes of breath, counting to ten before turning to her boyfriend.

“Exactly where have you brought me? I thought we were surprising each other by acting out our fantasies, not nightmares!” She looked around, turning her nose up at the mud and grass all around.

“But I thought you wanted to be a princess?” Ken was puzzled. He had racked his brains to surprise her. “See… there’s a tower, and look!” He rummaged in the holdall he had slung across his torso. “Here’s your hair!”

Barbie recoiled in horror as he pulled out a wig that consisted of six-foot-long synthetic blonde hair, displaying it proudly.

“What? You expect me to wear that??”

“Well, it’s not me that wanted to be Rapunzel, is it?” Ken stared at the retreating figure of hisΒ girlfriend. “Babe? Babe! Come back! I even got you a tiara!”

What happened next?
What always happens…
I stood there, contemplating the world… then the clouds rolled over.
I could sense the rain about to fall.
I’d come prepared this time though.
Had my hood up ready to combat the torrent that was sure to follow…
But it didn’t.
So I went home.
