Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 319 – Time Flies

img_00411

“The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.”

Michale Altshuler

Thanks for this, Spidey.

You are so right to point this one out, today.

It’s the last day of our Easter break, and I can’t quite believe how fast the two weeks went.

The first, I pretty much wrote off, what with the grief I was suffering from losing my uncle. It’s still there, of course, but the rawness of his passing was much tougher, especially the lead up to the funeral.

This last week, I had plans.

Aside from ferrying Lil Man to and fron Cricket for six of the seven days, I wanted to start really clearning out the summer house, and attic. We even got a skip ordered.

But, quite obviously, my pilot decided that wasn’t the route to take.

Instead, I still did the ferrying around, but did precisely nothing, clear out, wise!

The truth?

I was exhausted.

Mentally, physically, emotionally.

That meant, to let time fly, and me not do what I had intended, was the best course of action for me.

So, are you a good pilot for your time journey?

#SoCS April 17, 2021 – Mash

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “mash.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Oh, Linda, you had to go and use something like that as the prompt, didn’t you?

Now, I’m craving a plate full of creammy, fluffy, buttery mash.

Mashed potato – my favourite comfort food.

Sure, I’ll have sweet potato, or root vegetable mash, as the healtier alternative, especially as I am trying my hardest to develop good eating habits.

But, nothing tastes as good as pure potato mash. You have to agree.

I love cheese in there, too.

Oh, and lashings of gravy…

Stop it! This is getting too much…

I need to go and quench my starchy carb thirst…

Here, listen to a song…

April 15: Flash Fiction Challenge – Technophobe

Charli’s Carrot Ranch Prompt, this week:

April 15, 2021, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story that seeds generosity. Who is generous and why? Think of generosity as planting a future outcome. Go where the prompt leads!

Technophobe

“No, no, Mum, just scroll down. Tap the one you want.” Nisha rolled her eyes.

She’d been on the phone with her mother for an hour now, trying to help her set up her new phone, so she could enjoy the family video calls, along with everyone else.

But this hour was worth it.

Finally, Mum would be able to see her family, regularly. Nisha hadn’t seen her for over six months.

Just then her phone beeped.

“Good to see you, Mum! Now, if you could just hold the phone higher. I don’t want to see up your nose…”

#WritePhoto – Dinosaur

KL’s #WritePhoto prompt, this week:

Gingerly, I ease myself forward, trying my hardest not to startle it.

There it stood, the Lesser Spotted Not So Woolly Mammoth.

And, considering dinosaurs were meant to be extinct, it should haave been a Never Spotted one.

I pull out my phone to take some photos. I needed evidence. No one would believe that this sighting was real, otherwise.

Maybe I should Insta-live it, or live stream on Facebook?

I could become viral, for discovering that dinosaurs weren’t actually extinct!

Fiddling with my phone, I get the relevant app up, and try to focus it… on nothing.

I search everywhere, frantically, but it’s nowhere to be seen.

Darn it!

At least I have my photos.

Ah, wait.

Stupid social media strikes again.

I was so tied up with setting up my Live, that I didn’t actually click a photo!

Kicking myself, I wonder when these camera phones became so much more. It was far simpler when a mobile was just a phone and camera.

Echoes of a conversation between me and my dino aged father come to mind. He always says it was far simpler when a phone was just a phone…

#Tanka Tuesday On A Thursday – Finding Myself #Etheree

It’s Colleen’s syllabic poetry challenge!

Search & Lost

Set
Adrift
In my thoughts
Hunting wildly
Looking for the truth
The answers to my 'Whys'
Questions keep bombarding me
Will I find what I'm looking for?
Possibly not, but really, I know
The solution to all my woes, is me
