bucket-list-3675656_960_720

Rory’s Instructions:
I will choose a topic, write four lines of Rhyming Verse then l will tag one of my readers who will in turn add four lines of Rhyming Verse to my mine and Tag one of their own readers, and then it is a case of wash rinse repeat and let’s see how far our topic goes in so far as a Rhyme?

The Perfectly Crazy Bucket List!

Rory Starts us off:
So, so much to do, and with so little time,
I want to do everything, nothing to be missed,
But how do l plan it all, how do l define,
The perfectly crazy bucket list?
Paula’s adds:
First up is a lush tropical jungle,
Jaguars and waterfalls… all quite insane;
I do hope my parachute isn’t all bungled,
When I jump from the doorway of this airplane!
Fandango Continues:
I want to take a rocket into space,
Or maybe a submarine ride deep in the sea.
I sure hope they will save me a place,
Because that’s where I really want to be!
Cheryl Contributes:
A trip to the mountains is what l’d choose,
I’ll make sure to wear climbing shoes,
Rocks are high and edges slippery,
Wouldn’t want to fall off the perifery,
Kristian's Contribution:
I’d like see the world, visit the sands of Abu Dhabi
take a cruise down the Golden Gate Bridge in my Maserati
head to New England and catch a game at old Fenway Park,
then board a ship to Costa Rica where I can swim with a shark.
Nova's Addition
I’d travel to the desert in Egypt
And photograph the pyramids
Then board the Ciaro railway,
To the Chocolateria in Madrid.

Thank you Nova for thinking of me!

And mine...
Swimming with dolphins in the ocean deep
A worldwide cruise, though it won't be cheap
I want to write a novel, and hope it's a best seller
To see my book upon a shelf, wouldn't that be stellar?

And I would like to tag… Willow to continue the Rhyming Bucket list!

#SoCS April 20/19 – Ribs

Linda’s #SoCS prompt for this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “rib.” Use it as a word, or find a word with “rib”in it. As always, use any way you’d like. Enjoy!

I started thinking about this… and what came to mind was Adam and Eve.

So, apparently Eve, aka Woman, was created from one of Adam’s ribs… thereby making her a suitable helper for Man…

But if you dig deeper there are quotes in the bible that suggest that it was not just his rib, but possibly more than a bone, maybe a side of Adam, that was used to create Eve.

So, not a suitable helper as such but really an equal companion that would conmplete Man

Woman was created to be “beside” man, not beneath or above him. In salvation, man is no more “worthy” and woman is no less a citizen of God’s kingdom. “There is neither . . . male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”

Wikipedia

I like that thought. It has been in my mind since I wrote a flash yesterday about gender at birth, and the so called importance of a male baby within our Indian communities, and others out there.

Why? Why is that dangly genitalia so important?

It’s us women you need to actually create men nowadays. God isn’t doing his Garden of Eden magic nowadays.

Our Sikh first Guru, Guru Nanak says:

“We are born of woman, we are conceived in the womb of woman, we are engaged and married to woman. We make friendship with woman and the lineage continued because of woman. When one woman dies, we take another one, we are bound with the world through woman. Why should we talk ill of her, who gives birth to kings? The woman is born from woman; there is none without her. Only the One True Lord is without woman”

Guru Nanak

Sure, a male was meant to continue the family name, ensuring that the bloodline carried forth for more generations, but doesn’t a daughters offspring do the same, bloodline wise, anyway?

Male or female, hair shorne or tied with ribbons, breasts or dangly bits, we are equal. We were made to be equal, whether Christian, Sikh, Muslim, Jewish… any religion.

Ain’t that the truth?

Boys and girls
Girls and boys
Essentially the same
Though given different toys

Male and female
Female and male
Yet still inequalities
A very old tale

Him and her
Her and him
Together complete
Not made on a whim

A partnership
On equal ground
As God intended
Though not what's found

Differences only
To strengthen and support
Not useless foetuses
That some choose to abort

Man and woman
Woman and man
We should stand together
That was God's plan

April 18: Flash Fiction Challenge – Gender

Charli’s Carrot Ranch prompt this week:

April 18, 2019, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about gender. It can be fixed or fluid. Explore the topic on your own terms and open your mind to possibilities and understanding. Go where the prompt leads!

East to West – Which Gender is the Best?

“Hmmm, what is it?”
“Not what. Who!”
“Huh?”
“It’s the scan picture! There. That’s your grandchild right there!”
“Looks like an alien.”
“Well, we all know where the weirdness will have come from, Dad!”
“So, a he or she?”
“Does it matter?”
“No, not to me. Just as long as the child is healthy and happy, that’s all that matters. But you know what the rest of the family will be like…”
“I know, they’ll all want a boy. Typical Indian families.”
“Gender doesn’t make someone right or wrong, it’s their actions. Teach your child well. Make me proud.”

Beyond #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt:

I felt compelled to write a little extra to add to Reena and Jay’s little journey last week, in poetic form!

Reena Laments
Light
Breaks through
Brightening
Our surroundings
Unfurlings my limbs
I rub away stiffness
Camping mats and sleeping bags
Are definitely not for me
Can't wait for the trip to be over
How long until I can get in my bath?

Jay Responds
Feeling that sunlight warming my body
Tickling my toes and calming me
Transports me to another place
Somewhere nature takes over
Until a groan shatters
Serene images
The Glamster wakes...
"Caffeine! Now!"
Reena.
Great.
