#SoCS Dec. 23/17 – Yule/You’ll/Yul

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “yule/you’ll/Yul.” Start your post with one of them. Have fun!

Yule log.

Definitely a favourite pudding of mine during this festive period of Christmas!

Mind you, if there was a choice of stationing myself at the bar or the dessert station, you’ll find me near the sweet stuff, EVERY TIME!

I had a lovely yule log at my school staff Christmas party, accompanied by a mixed berry compote and ice CREAM – Yum!

We went to the shops today… the last Friday before Christmas, and it was manic, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you. The kids and I needed to venture into a food shop to pick up a few Christmas dinner essentials, like pigs in blankets, goose fat (best roast potatoes ever!) and dessert!

We ended up with a trifle, cheesecake and a profiterole tower… but no yule log! It appears my kids don’t share my love of a chocolatey swiss roll type thing!

Hmm… I’ll  bet Yul Brynner likes yule log!

(sorry, just had to slip that extra Yul in too!)

And with that, I’ll be off to take a child to a pre-Christmas birthday party… and get ready for my folks to arrive!

Happy Saturday Peeps!

#SoCS Dec. 16/17 – Contrast

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “contrast.” Use the word “contrast,” or talk about contrasting things. Enjoy!

In Contrast…

I’ll be off soon to get my Christmas nails done!

It’s been a while. They are looking terrible at the moment, but, what with life, I haven’t had a chance to pamper myself as I usually do.

And I need to get them done today as Hubby Dearest and I are off to his work Christmas Party tonight. It’s a ‘Ball’ of sorts, and the company sent invites out to the employees and partners.

I love a good party, and it doesn’t phase me in the slightest that I have never met any of his colleagues since he started at this company just before the summer this year. All the more new people to talk to!

His previous company also had glamorous ‘plus one’ Christmas parties at various glamorous locations, like Whitehall Palace, Madame Tussauds and London Zoo, which we attended as a couple. It’s always lovely to dress up and be all ‘fancy’ if you know what I mean!

In contrast, my work party, which will be at the end of term, is very much an event just for the staff. There is never an invitation stretched to the partners of the attendees! And it only occurred to me the other day that none of the places I worked, have ever had a party where partners have been invited!

He always asks whether he can come, and I always have to say no! I think we all really need to let off steam after the long Autumn term, and having partners there can sometimes mean that you end up babysitting your other half if they don’t know others, instead of relaxing and enjoying yourself.

Mind you, I’m not sure I’d want to be in a room with 40-odd school and teaching staff, after all the assessments, observations, and Christmas productions, if I wasn’t one of them!!!

Now I need to decide what do do with my nails… Sparkles and glitter? Chrome? Contrasting feature nail (yes, that is a thing!)? Let’s see, eh!

#SoCS Dec. 9/17 – Liqu

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “liqu.” Find a word that starts with “liqu” or has “liqu” in it, and base your post on that word. Have fun!

Liquor

I’m not a drinker, really, but can I just say that if I was one, then I would possibly have consumed a whole lot of liquor this week!

School has been totally manic this week, with awful observations, crazy (and I mean really crazy!) kids, charity fundraisers, and the fun (read long hours) of Governors meetings (4 hours long the other evening!)

And to add to that, we are practising school performances for Christmas!

I was all set for a weekend away at my parents, to help ease the stresses of the week, as to be honest, a loving family, rather than a liquid diet, helps me… but then Storm Caroline decided to get in on the act too, and the city my parents are in is currently being snowed upon!

After the accident I had in February (where I shut down the M6, both ways!) due to bad winds from another storm, and a tyre blow out, I thought it would be too risky to attempt the journey, and risk another incident.

So that means I don’t get to see Pops and Mum…

Feeling a little down…

Maybe I need some liquid therapy… Though mine would be in the form of tea, chai latte or hot chocolate!

Happy Saturday Peeps!

One-Liner Wednesday – #1LinerWeds – Hot Water Bottle!

On days like these, God bless my hot water bottle!

20171205_2135181431126869.jpg

I don’t function well in the cold. My whole body goes on go-slow! This photo, taken last night, shows me with my wonderful companion at night! I was ready to just go to bed because the cold was deep within me, but as soon as I got my feet warm, I felt ready to do all sorts of little jobs that I had been putting off!

Love me a good hot water bottle!

#SoCS Nov. 25/17 – Cramp

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “cramp.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Cramp

So many things come to mind when I think of cramp.

Firstly, it’s that general accompaniment to the monthly ‘blessing’ that women get. I’ve been lucky to not have really experienced them badly, but they are debilitating for some ladies out there. All you want to do is curl up with a hot water bottle and wither away until Aunt Flo has disappeared!

Then there is that cramp you get in your leg. Again, not one I get often, but it affects my sleep sometimes as when Hubby Dearest gets a cramp in his leg in the middle of the night, the groans are insufferable, and then I have to get up to help him stretch it out!

Writer’s cramp – there’s another one that us bloggers and writers don’t want to suffer from, but thankfully not as many of us spend hours grasping a writing tool, so much as tapping away at a keyboard, to aid our craft. But then again, because we write physically with a pen much less, the cramp is more likely to hit quicker, when we do!

Cramped spaces was another thought that came to mind. Cosy. I like cosy places, but cramped is another matter; when you are made to be near other people or objects, against your will… The Tube is a place which, during rush hour is really cramped. If you are lucky, you may get a seat, or else you are left hanging on to a bar or handle, or possibly wedged between other commuters; that being the only support you have to prevent you from being thrown around as the carriages move along.

Right, I’m off now… don’t wanna cramp my style, waffling on about cramp!

Happy Saturday Peeps!
