Blogily Love ❤️

I was so overwhelmed today.

It was the last day of term… I am exhausted, been looking forward to this day for a while, and my dear blog bro Rich of Wafflemethis touched me withh a poem, all for me!

He’s recently found an amazing love for the written word, and his poetry is generally fantastic! I know, in his blog sis, you may think I’m biased, but I am actually serious… Go check it out while you’re here!

But before you go here is his little ditty for me, left in comments!

Yaaaay not an inset day in sight. That’s what I like to hear. You’ve earned it and need it Sis.

But look at it this way.

My Lil Sis has just completed her first half term at the real deal.
It’s been hard,

It’s been smelly,

You’ve cried,

And laughed from your belly.
There’s been bruises,

And some bumps,

There’s been tantrums,

And Humps.
The hard work is done,

Half terms finally here,

And now that you’ve done it,

I give you a cheer☺
Hip hip hooray

Well done sis xx

Thank you my dear bro!

Fabulous Friday!

FridayWhat a wonderful quote by Oprah Winfrey!

It reminds me of a story I read about a mother and daughter…

And I hope you read it and appreciate it too!

Let me take this opportunity to say to you all, my Peeps, I truly wish you enough!

Have a happy and fulfilled Friday! 🙂

Wise Word Wednesday

Quotes-about-kidsI read this and it touched me.

That really is the unconditional love of pets.

But it’s also the unconditional love of young children too.

I’ve lost count of the times I have probably blown a fuse at the kids, and probably been a mean-ass mum, stressed out because of home, and work, and all manner of things, yet my Lil Man still comes up to me and hugs me and says “Don’t worry mummy, you’re still the best ever!”

I know I’m not, but just to hear that is the best feeling.

I will leave you with this thought…

In my culture, we think of young children as the face of God, unspoiled, innocent, open minded… They are a clean page when they are born. They know only good… the way they turn out is our doing… What kind of introduction are you going to write on the clean page of your child’s life book? It will have a bearing on their whole life story…

Happy Wednesday Peeps!

Mother’s memories

I’m home, with mum and dad, and the first thing mum did, after lunch, was to get her old sarees out, from her wedding… Beautiful silks, chiffons, embroidery and prints.

image

“I’m not being morbid,” she says, “but let’s go through things, so I know what you like, and , you know, when the time comes, there’ll be a package of stuff for you, that means something!”
Sarees from her wedding, with stories behind many of them too…

image

See that green embroidered one? She was taken to the shops by her in laws to choose something. She fell in love with that one. It cost 600 /= Kenyan shillings… About £6 in money now.
She was told it was too expensive, but, rumour has it, Pops was there and overheard the exchange…
Miraculously the Saree appeared in her gifts after the wedding.
She is convinced he went back and got it, and when I asked Pops today, he just smiled, and said I remember the conversation…
Romance isn’t dead, see!!!

image

And then we found the top from her wedding outfit… It looks as sparkly as is it were new!

I’m not morbid, neither is my mum… Sharing the stories behind the outfits means when I get old, and want to pass them on to my daughter, there will be some meaning to everything!

image

Then she pulled this one outta her box of tricks… A framed poem my parents had given me as I entered adulthood…
Another one to pass on to my little madam… When she grows!
I ❤ family 🙂

And just needed to slip this one in too!
❤ you mum! 😘

I’m In Love All Over Again!

The day I have been waiting for, for, well, 7 months was finally here today!

I was able to meet, hold, cuddle, play with, and generally love my baby nephew, our Finnjabi baby!
Oh how I have longed for this day!

They were over from Finland for a few short days, on the sad business of my brother’s best friend’s funeral, and stayed on a few more days, and we wanted to meet them all, so off we went to London today.

It was a most emotional day for me… I have countless ‘nephews’ and ‘nieces’ via my 6000 (slight exaggeration!) cousins, and their kids, but my Lil Finnjabi is MINE! By that I mean, my real flesh and blood, my brother’s offspring, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a tad emotional the moment I saw him!

He looks at people he hasn’t met before, and the sign of approval is a touching of the face, and we all got that from him! But 6 hours wasn’t enough! That’s not even an hour for each month he’s been alive!

We were with him through 2 messy mealtimes, a trip to the park, and bath time.

I wish I could post a photo of him, but like me, his parents are not fans of putting personal pics of children on any media, so I can’t even physically share him with you, but I can describe!

Big, huge brown eyes twinkling from a cute little tanned skinned face, cheeks not so chubby, but enough for you to want to eat them up. A perfect nose and the gummiest smile, showing two teeth, flashing constantly! Shiny brown hair that naturally created a mohican and frames his beautiful face.

He’s a smiler, a giggler, and sitting in his bouncy chair, he waggles his legs manically to bounce himself, and he loves to growl like a bear!

The kids and Hubby Dearest are as infatuated as I am, and when it was time to go, we physically had to tear ourselves away!

But my high light was at the end when I got a few precious moments with him, no sharing, after his bath, and he kept on grabbing my face with his little hands, and pulling me down, so he could kiss/eat my nose, cheeks and lip! My brother managed to get a video of that, it’s so cute!!! As I said in my post title, I’m in love again!!!!

Counting down the next time we meet, which I know will be in October, unless we manage to arrange a trip out to them in August!!!

In other business, the scratch is better, but I definitely twisted my ankle in our dramatic rescue of the Cat Called Sonu Singh, last night, when I fell off the chair!
