WRITESPIRATION #111 52 WEEKS IN 52 WORDS WEEK 15 – Mum

It’s Wednesday, and Sacha is back with another great #writespiration prompt for us, celebrating Mother’s, as it is her Mama Bear’s birthday this week… Happy Birthday for tomorrow, Sacha’s mum!

writespiration-2017

So, to the prompt! Remember, in 52 words… no more, no less!

This week I want you to write an advert for your own mother…

Well, here goes!

COULD YOU BE MY MUM?
Warm and cuddly individual, full of love and kind words.
A whizz in the kitchen, able to provide all necessities in a moment’s notice.
Firm when needed, and fun at all other times.
Oh, wait, scrap that, I have one just like that, or better, at home!

Mother’s memories

image

I’m home, with mum and dad, and the first thing mum did, after lunch, was to get her old sarees out, from her wedding… Beautiful silks, chiffons, embroidery and prints.

image

“I’m not being morbid,” she says, “but let’s go through things, so I know what you like, and , you know, when the time comes, there’ll be a package of stuff for you, that means something!”
Sarees from her wedding, with stories behind many of them too…

image

See that green embroidered one? She was taken to the shops by her in laws to choose something. She fell in love with that one. It cost 600 /= Kenyan shillings… About £6 in money now.
She was told it was too expensive, but, rumour has it, Pops was there and overheard the exchange…
Miraculously the Saree appeared in her gifts after the wedding.
She is convinced he went back and got it, and when I asked Pops today, he just smiled, and said I remember the conversation…
Romance isn’t dead, see!!!

image

And then we found the top from her wedding outfit… It looks as sparkly as is it were new!

I’m not morbid, neither is my mum… Sharing the stories behind the outfits means when I get old, and want to pass them on to my daughter, there will be some meaning to everything!

image

Then she pulled this one outta her box of tricks… A framed poem my parents had given me as I entered adulthood…
Another one to pass on to my little madam… When she grows!
I ❤ family 🙂

image
And just needed to slip this one in too!
❤ you mum! 😘

But I Smile Anyway...

I Love You Lil Princess!

Oh, and I know I embarrass you…!!!
Muahahahaha!!!!
But seriously, love you, and your brother, to pieces! ❤

But I Smile Anyway...

Versatile Mommy Blogger Award!

A little twist on the regular Versatile Blogger award by Silver Lining Mama on this special day!

As its Mother’s Day, she requested her readers to nominate favourite mum related blogs in the comments section for this adapted version of the award!

So the rules, as usual, which I will adapt…

THE AWARD RULES

  • Thank the person who gave you this award, and the person who nominated you in that post, and include a link to their blog.
  • Proudly display the adapted award image on your post and blog!
  • Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly  ask your readers to nominate a favourite mommy blog in the comments!
  • Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Mommy Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
  • Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself as a mother.

So firstly, thank you so much, Silver Linings Mama, for this adapted award! 😊

And secondly, but just as importantly, thank you to Ann from Grubbs’n’Critters for nominating me via the comments section!

Both these wonderful ladies have amazing blogs, mommy related, and otherwise!!! Please be sure to check em out!

7 Mommy-Related Facts About Me

  1. I am a proud mummy to 2 human munchkins, one fur baby, and feel like a mummy to many kids I have taught, and sometimes to Hubby Dearest too!
  2. It was a long, tough journey to become a mum, if you would like, read about it here
  3. I have the most amazing role models! Check them out here!
  4. I love my kids to bits! But, like many mums out there, there are days I could throttle them! But I don’t, obviously!! I wish I could say that I sit serenely, and let the chaos pass, but sadly no, I end up becoming a banshee!
  5. My house is a tip, but my kids are happy, and that’s all that matters to me!
  6. I cherish the moments when my children, growing up so fast, revert to baby, and want a cuddle, on my lap!
  7. These kids have been my inspiration for so many posts, and they’ve been my reason for being on many occasions. I feel blessed to have them!

And to start the nominations off…

I would like to nominate Trish of 10 Years A Single Mom as she is a great blogger, a great mum, and has been going it alone for the last few years!

I’ll notify anyone nominated in the comments, so please do nominate!!!

A poem to finish the acceptance off…

A mother’s love is never ending

Full of nurture, care and tending

A love so pure and innocent

It warms the heart for whom it’s meant

We’d give our lives for those little souls

That made our incomplete selves into wholes

Blessed I am, to be a mother

To experience this love, like no other.

Ritu 2015

And finally, wishing all those celebrating today, a Happy Mothers Day! Embrace your position!
We all need a mother, we all came from one, some ‘mums’ are not those from which we were born, some mothers journey fell short of the finish line, but they are still mums too, they still dreamt of that future baby, before God took it early…
Thinking of all those mothers too, who need an extra hug today…
and Mother’s Day wishes winging their way upwards to those mothers waiting in the clouds, taken from us, to mother those angels above.
