Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 176

img_00411

“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilerating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.”

John Ruskin

Thanks, Spidey!

Something to ponder upon, as we are experiencing a mini heatwave here in the UK. Some areas are getting repeated wildfires, the water is drying up. There is talk of hosepipe bans, and warning us to try not to have a bath, but shower instead – there may be a water shortage. And oh, the heat! Sleepless nights, afternoons that really require siestas, because it’s too hot, but we can’t because we have to work…

A few short weeks ago we were lamenting the cold winds, previous to that the one week of snow was just too much for us. And rain. Well, better not talk about the rain and Britain! It’s always around the corner, but never at the right time for us.

There is always someone complaining about the weather, but reading the quote above made me think. It’s like that old adage; Every cloud has a silver lining.

There is something positive to be taken from all the weather we experience, and though heat is not my best friend, generally the world is easier to deal with when it’s sunny. It’ll cool down soon enough, then we’ll start getting tetchy with the lower temperatures!

So, before you begin to moan about the heat, think of all it gives us, and relish our British Indian summer, for as long as it lasts!

Happy Sunday!

Thanks, Spidey!

He made use my own quote today as a cause for consideration.

That’s because yesterday I went and spent time with my dear best friend, celebrating her baby’s first birthday. It was a wonderful day, and even though we can’t be with each other as much as we’d like, we have one of those friendships where you can not speak for months, and still pick up exactly where we left off.

I am blessed with a brother, but no sister.

She is the closest person to a sister to me, despite having three of her own. We may be from different faiths, and families, but I always think our friendship shows that sisterhood truly extends beyond the boundaries of blood.

Isn’t she a beauty?

And I have been blessed to have other friends that mean the world to me…

Take my Tootie Frooties… Those girls have been my saviours at times, wives and mothers from this area I live in, all going through the same things. My sisters from other misters.

And my blog sisters, who mean so much, being my champions in all things creative, and giving me the guts to continue with my writing… Erica, Judy, Willow, Colleen, Annette, Sacha, Lucy, Shelley, Sally, Sophie, Charli, Jennie … you all know who you are… there are so many more of you…

Take the time to celebrate your friendships, both off and online. They are the family you chose yourself ❤

Happy Sunday!

Sisters Together!

Opened an unsuspecting post, and what should I find in it??!! Another sneaky award nomination, from my blog sis Erika! Thank you, you wonderful woman! Love you lots! And you really deserve this award, so I am so happy you got it! Please Peeps, if you haven’t checked it out already, go visit Erika’s blog!!!!  She has nominated me for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award, and If I could, I’d nominate her right back!

The rules:

Thank the giver and link their blog to your post.
Answer the 10 questions given to you.
Pass the award on to other bloggers of your choice and let them know that they have been nominated.
Include the logo of the award in a post or on your blog.

The questions for me to answer

If resources were unlimited, would you rather have every book ever written, or every movie, or every song?

Every book written, as I could imagine the movies through the words, and sing songs or hum music to my self!

What’s something fictional that you wish was real or could be real someday?

No brainer! The edible room in Charlie and the Chocolate factory, as per the Gene wilder version of the film!!!

If you had to change identities and start over: would you be someone completely different or about the same.

I think the person I am right now, is the person I’d want to be… maybe I might have handled situations differently, or gone about things a different way, but I am pretty happy being me!

When watching a good movie at home, what do you eat and or drink?

I have to say I love a coke, and sweet popcorn, freshly popped, or crisps, chocolate… heck, I’d eat anything!!

When reading a good book, what do you eat or drink?

Very little as I am usually pretty engrossed in the book, but I always have water by my side, and may nibble on sweets or crisps…

What’s your favorite slang term (explain it please)?

Innit!! Meaning Is it not? as in an agreement, very London and Essex, a term that seems to have been adopted by the West London and Essex Indians! I would say it all the time when at university, and though I have trained myself not to now, (not that professional, is it?!) I still have to say it!!!

What’s currently your favorite hashtag?

Sorry, I am a bit old school not up to date with hashtagging!

If your life story was going to be told would you want to: publish a diary or journal, write your autobiography, or hand-pick someone to write your biography for you?

I think I would have to write it myself, there is too much to sit and go through with someone else, and only I know how I felt at any one time!

What do you seek long-term: fame and or influence, wealth, or happiness?

Easy peasy! Happiness is key!

What’s one topic you don’t like to discuss with the public (you’d rather just keep it private or intimate)?

The nitty gritty of my relationship, and personal family information….

My nominations

Domesticated Momster
Idiot Writing
Pint Sized Fiction
Lady Lee Manila

8. Is there life elsewhere in universe? I think there is something there… goodness knows what, but I’d love to find my own ET!
9. You have to plan a surprise for your best friend, but you are broke. What will you plan? I would print lots of photos of us, hang them everywhere, and get her to come round so we can reminisce, over tea and home made cake! She doesn’t drink so I don’t need to worry about alcohol!
10. One of your friends, with whom you were not in contact for many years, meets you somewhere and starts cursing you. How will you tackle the situation?  If they were cursing me, I think I would just walk away.. after all, they haven t been in my life for all these years, I don’t need them now, do I?
