Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 64

“It is not until you become a mother that your judgement slowly turns to compassion and understanding.”  Erma Bombeck

“Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn’t know you had, and dealing with fears you never knew existed.” Linda Wooten

I know in the UK we have already celebrated Mother’s day this year, but many of our Blog pals in other countries will be celebrating today.

Spidey pulled out some Mommy quotes for the day.

Essentially, every day is Mother’s day. We should appreciate, and celebrate our mothers every day, not just on one specific day, but hey, if the day is there, then spoil that woman! She will have sacrificed more than you may ever know to help mould you into the being you are.

She is probably a totally different person to what she was BC (Before Children).

Once you become a mother (or parent) yourself, only then to you actually feel the sacrifices she made, understand the unquestioning love she feels for you, see how hard it is to be a mum.

I know I struggle through some days of motherhood, and my mum jokes sometimes, that it is payback time. I was an awful eater/sleeper as a young child. I drove my mum to distraction with my fussiness. When I am at the same crossroads with my own children, then my appreciation for my mum goes up ten-fold.

How did she do it?

Whatever she did, however she did it, I always say this, if I am even half the mother that she has been to me, then I will be awesome because she truly is the best!

Happy Mother’s day to all those celebrating today!

Make it a special one Peeps!

#SoCS May 7/16 – Apparent/A Parent

socs-badge-2015

The prompt word – Apparent or A Parent

My thoughts….

A Parent

Apparently I’m a parent
I should show you what to do
Apparently I’m a parent
A good example to you

From the early years of food and poops
And sleeping in your bed
Through school and education
Show you how to use your head

I should teach you how to talk
And always speak with respect
Think of what you want to do
And teach you how to reflect

Be there to support you
To lift you when you fall
To always show compassion
And do good to all

But sometimes I may slip a little
And not be all the above
Yet still I’ll try and guide you
With lots of mummy love

Apparently I’m a parent
I should show you what to do
Apparently I’m a parent
A good example to you

TJ’s Household Haiku Challenge – Rainbow

TJ’s prompt this week, Rainbow.

I love this prompt! I had a great photo captured when I saw an upside down rainbow one day!

A Smile From Above

Colourful rainbow
Like a smile in the sky
Bringing hope to all

Then I remembered that one time I did indeed find a rainbow inside my house!

Unexpected Rainbow – A Tanka

A rainbow inside?
Imagine my surprise!
Caused by reflections
A CD was the true cause
…But I think it was magic!

WRITESPIRATION #88 IT’S A DOLLS LIFE

doll island

In response to Sacha Black’s prompt.

It was meant to be my dream holiday. I had been saving for so long, and finally, I got off the plane.
Mattel Island. It was a little-known island in the cluster of Hawaiian islands.  Perfect, I thought. An unspoiled place for me to truly relax.
I hailed a cab outside the airport and one soon stopped. The driver was a handsome young man, with a fixed smile on his face. “Where to, Miss?”
I gave him the name of the hotel and we drove off.
Looking out of the window I saw some of the locals going about their business.
There sure were some attractive folk out there, on this island!
Reaching the hotel, I paid the driver, who I had named Ken, after the infamous doll.
The reception was quiet, and I strolled over to the desk. As the receptionist looked up, brushing her blonde hair from her face, I was struck by how perfect she looked, almost like Barbie.
Then it hit me.  Pretty much everyone I had seen seemed to have that plastic perfection look about them…
It was like landing on an Island of dolls!
Then she remembered the name of the island.
Mattel Island…
