Charli’s prompt this week:

August 16, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about a comet. You can consider how it features into a story, influences a character, or creates a mood. Go where the prompt leads.
Heavenly Calling
It was 1910. She was ten. She’d often sit on her windowsill, legs dangling, staring out at the stars. That night, she’d seen something different, a ball of light travelling through the sky.
Haley’s Comet.
She never expected to see that in her lifetime again, and yet here she was, in 1986, eyes trained on the stars, with her ten-year-old granddaughter for company.
A ball of light flashed through the sky. Doris smiled and sat back.
“I saw it! Did you see it? Gramma!! Did you see it?” Rosie turned to her grandma.
Gramma sat, eyes closed, at peace.

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

Stoned Stones
Rocky leant back and surveyed the motley group of mates surrounding him.
They’d grown up together; him, Chalky, Mossy, Slimy, Grey, and Chunk.
Actually, it had been kinda hard for them grow in any other way, considering they had been placed in this ridiculous circle, wedged into the ground, and the fact that they had no limbs to make changes.
All they could do was sit or lean.
And gather moss.
Sure there had been a bit of weight loss for the most of them, what with all those heavy backsides coming and sitting on them over the years, wearing buttock-shaped grooves into their heads.
Oh, they’d seem some strange stuff over the years, strange pagan rituals, animal sacrifices, chanting… then all went quiet for a while.
Now all they got was the groups of teens who’d discovered them. Evenings spent feeling slightly woozy as they lit objects and polluted the air with strange smelling smoke…
It’s what made him start to lean, the feeling that smoke gave him…

I have been an avid participant of Linda and her Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt over the last few years.
Each year, she opens up her blog to the participants to design a new badge, and it is time for the 2018/2019 badge competition to start!
I’m not generally one to enter these things, but I had an idea and here is my amateurish effort!

If you have ideas, click here to go to Linda’s post!
The competition is open until Wednesday 22nd August!

How come they get the fun of the sleepover, yet I get the joys of the sleepless night?
