One-Liner Wednesday – Cat Years #1linerweds

Lil Man to Lil Princess: “You need to respect your elders, and I mean Sonu Singh too…(our 3 year old cat!), you know he’s like over 30 in cat years!! Oh that means he’s older than me too!”

Kids thought processes give me a giggle! There is always the argument about how old Sonu Singh really is! I did look it up…

There’s no reliable scientific way to calculate the relationship between human and cat years, but it’s generally agreed that the first two years of a cat’s life are roughly equal to the first 25 of a human’s, and after this, each additional year is around four ‘cat years‘. Source

So our furball is approximately 31 Cat Years apparently! (3 and a half human years!)

Lovely Ron’s Prompt

Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge Image 2016

Darkness & Deep

Feels like Ron’s prompt words couldn’t have come at a more apt time with all the tragedies here…

It inspired a Freku. Ron created this form which is basically a free verse poem with a three line haiku to tie it all together.

Inside us all
Is good and bad
Things make us laugh
They make us mad

How we react
Colours the world
Our actions spread
Like smoke, unfurled

If only we were
To think a while
Who will we please?
Who will we rile?

For every Yang
There is a Yin
We just need
To look within

* * *

Looking deep inside
We can find a way to change
Lighten the Darkness

TJ’s Household Haiku – Full & Only

TJ is back with another set of great prompts, photographic and wordy!Viacar of Wakefield with illustrations by Hugh Thomson

Full & Only

Firstly TJ, I totally agree with you! The art of letter writing has waned, and it is such a shame! I try to encourage my children to write a letter or two once in a while, to their grandparents and uncle in Finland!

A couple of weeks ago, an envelope arrived for Lil Princess and she was ecstatic to receive a letter from her best friend who has moved to a different area of the country! She quickly wrote a reply back and is now awaiting a reply!

So the first Haiku is for her!

Full of the joy that
Only a letter can bring
A smile on her lips

Just a little slit
In a bulging envelope
True friendship is found

#SoCS June 17/17 – Sign

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “sign.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Do you ever think you know the score?
Knowing something’s gonna happen
That feeling of forboding
Or even feeling good
Because you felt ‘it’
It came to you
Telling you
A sign
Fate

A nonet inspired by the prompt!

Twilight – #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week.

Twilight.
It was that time again.
The mists rolled over the hills.
The sun had lowered below the horizon, darkness had yet to envelop the world.
That time… when humans feared the hills.
That time… when loved ones went missing.
That time… when the creatures felt safe to roam.
That time… when they feasted.
Before their eyes failed them in the inky black of the night, the creatures scoured the hills for any living thing, be it a four-legged mammal, or two.
They didn’t discern between either.
The sound of a heartbeat alerted them to their next meal.
They sensed the blood pulsing through veins, calling out to be drained.
Sated, they crawled back to their hiding places, to recharge… ready for the next Twilight…
