Knock #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week:

“You do it!” Pete whispered.
“No, you do it!” Tom replied.
“Oh for goodness sake, I’ll do it!” Jake pushed himself forward. These other two were a total bunch of chickens!
The three of them had been messing around in the woods behind the park, and they had ventured a little further afield than before, and managed to get a little lost.
As they wound their way around, trying to retrace their steps, the boys managed to go deeper rather than get closer to the park again.
The darkness was starting to fall. It was already late when they decided to go into the woods, and now, as the trees started to take on a sinister look, they realised they were in trouble.
Tom took out his phone to call home, but the signal was nil. The same with Pete’s and Jake’s phone. At least they could use the phones as torches.
As they slowly ventured through the eerie trees, they spotted a small wooden building It was like a little grey-stoned house, with an old wooden door, and there was light coming from a window. A plume of smoke drifted out of a chimney pot.
They stumbled over roots to get to this door. Surely there was someone there to help them.
The closer they got, the more apparent it was that this was no ordinary house. The pathway up to the door seemed to be lined with bones, but with the reducing light they couldn’t be sure…
Tom and Pete began to panic, and wanted to step back. This was where Jake stepped up.
He raised his hand and hesitated before taking the rather creepy looking knocker in his hand and banging it cautiously.
It seemed an age before heavy footsteps were heard, and the door slowly creaked open…

I Have Been Interviewed…On Radio No Less!

A few weeks ago the lovely Annette contacted me, asking if I would like to take part in her Radio Podcast Tell Me A Story on the radio station The Magic Happens.

I was tentative, nervous even, but a tad excited too… and you know me, I can be like a young excitable puppy sometimes!

The other night we sat ourselves comfortably down for a chat that should have lasted half an hour, but went on into the ‘over an hour’ range! And the interview was born! So if you would like to spend just a measly half an hour listening to my inane ramblings, and Annette’s dulcet tones, please click here or below…

The Podcasts are in alphabetical order and I see I am in very good company, but mine happens to be at the top!

So please, have a listen and let me know what you think!

Pull up a chair and get cozy as we take you to England so you can enjoy this podcast of Tell Me a Story featuring Ritu Bhathal. She’s a lady who makes many of us look like we are standing still, what with being a wife, mother, daughter, teacher and friend. On top of all that, Ritu […]

TJ has some great words and a beautiful photo for us again this week!

Ancient & Weave

Here are my takes. The first using the photo and words.  The second and third inspired by the words.

Look towards Heaven
Beautiful ancient carving
Woven to delight

The women of old
Weaving fabric to clothe all
Worked their fingers raw

Brown Skinned and British – #Manchester

I’m brown skinned and British
That’s what I am
Don’t label me by colour
Just see me, if you can
Don’t question my religion
Beliefs don’t mean a thing
Cos in the grander scheme of life
I’m jus’ a human being
So I may pray quite differently
And eat other types of food
But to label me a terrorist
You know that’s kinda rude
Get to know me, talk to me
And then I guess you’ll see
That there ain’t no difference
Between you an’ me
We need to live in harmony
And celebrate our quirks
Jus’ please don’t judge me
By the deeds of other jerks

I’m lucky I haven’t experienced racism because of the acts of terrorism around the world, but I know of many innocent people who have been labelled, who have suffered because of their colour, and beliefs… Beliefs that don’t condone the acts of those who use the name of God to destroy lives.

These are just my words in solidarity with the majority of brown skinned British, who are just as horrified as their pink-skinned countrymen.

After the attack on Monday night in Manchester, we have heard of many acts of ‘revenge’ on innocent muslims who are just as horrified by the goings on of that night. But they are just like all the other Brits out there…

DON’T JUDGE FIRST….TAKE TIME TO LEARN A LITTLE… THEN MAKE YOUR JUDGEMENTS.

Peace out Peeps 😊

A poem from my book, Poetic RITUals, that is extremely apt this week… (available myBook.to/PoeticRITUals)
