Oh, I’m still ill!

I thought it was a 24-hour thing. I hoped I would wake this morning with a wonderfully fresh brain and the energy to write a really positive post!

But no… no amount of Beechams or Day/Night Nurse is helping. Still bunged up, and ears still feeling funny.

Thank goodness I am on Half Term though, and the pressure to get up and go to work, at least, is not there.

The kids have been good though. They woke, and have been quietly getting on with their morning business, eating breakfast, watching TV. Hubby Dearest has disappeared to work.

The Minion quote above struck me as truth. I am not calling myself awesome, by any stretch of the imagination. I am human, and a working mother, so I do juggle an awful lot on a day to day basis, like many others out there. But I’m not SuperWoman.

So I shall take this cold as a sign that I need to step back and make the most of this break I have. I have let my Bestie know that I have a cold so if she feels she needs to keep the bubba away then she can. The kids and I would be gutted if she couldn’t come but we totally understand. You don’t want to wish a cold on a baby.

Having said that, it may have disappeared over the course of the day, in which case, bring it on!

So that leaves me, ready to relax, unwind and get rid of this stupid cold!

The good thing about this? I have lots of time to read your posts!!!!

Loving the quote this morning Spidey, thank you!

Sometimes in life. we become fixated on the things we are expected to do, or what we need to achieve in order to succeed, when in reality, we look back on those same things and wonder why we were so worried.

I found myself floundering a few weeks ago. I struggled with a lot of what I now realise were little things, that ‘small stuff’ that Carlson mentions. Things really got the better of me.

Then the moment of stress passed… Things started to look brighter without me having had to do as much as I thought, and I felt much better in myself.

It happens all the time. I am a chilled out person most of the time, but I’m also human, and I guess, because I care, I get myself worked up if things don’t appear to be going how I think they should be.

But I am learning, more as I mature, that there is very little that is in our hands. So much of what happens in our life is going to happen whether we like it or not. We can prepare ourselves definitely, and the way we handle situations is our choice, but rarely can we change or stop the ‘big’ things.

So yeah, let’s not sweat the small stuff Peeps! Sweating is really rather unattractive anyway!

That Smug Feeling…

I’m finally on holiday.

And ended up with the typical teacher response to a week off.

I promptly fell ill. Woke up this morning with a streaming nose, earache and a difficulty swallowing – and that is AFTER having the flu jab the other week!

Still, things need doing and I grocery shopped and started a big clean of the house – need it to be spick and span before my bestie comes to stay with her little baby in the week!

And it has been hinted at that I need to knuckle down and finish my teenage WIP too! (you know who you are… Sacha, His Geoffleship, Lucy, Gary...)

Since the end of August, which was my #RiNoWriMo, self-imposed writing challenge to get my WIP back off the ground, I haven’t had the time or energy to look at it.

I have a week off, but there are not many days where I am totally free and able to lose myself in my words again, but still, if I can draw the story closer to the end, it would be a bonus.

I sat here and thought… and couldn’t remember what I had ended on. Honestly, after a month of writing, and over 50,000 words written, my brain was near mush!

So today I read the last couple of chapters and, (can I say so myself?) I was pretty pleased with what I read back! I really want to finish this first draft. I want to be able to post

IT’S DONE!

here there and everywhere, but for that, I need time again! So I shall try to carve out a few hours again to craft some more words, and hopefully, I will be closer to that announcement post!

I’m off again to bury myself under my duvet… catch you all soon Peeps!
