Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 161

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” -Anne Lamott

Thanks for the reminder Spidey.

Think I needed that after my week.

What with stressful waits for observations then feedback, an unwell child causing sleepless nights, and an injured child, shutting his hand in a car door, I was ready to drop on Friday evening.

I came home and did my usual routine of cleaning the house from top to bottom, then sat down with my laptop to browse blog posts, as I do. Within half an hour, I kid you not, I had a streaming nose and the beginnings of a full-blown cold.

Seriously?

Life, after all you threw at me this week, you could at least have given me this weekend to just relax and unwind, not get ill!

But then, maybe it’s just life’s way of making us slow down.

I did rush out and get the grocery shopping done first thing on Saturday in the mini Beast From The East (yes, a little more snow over here, but not much for us!) then came home and just vegged out.

I spent time doing what I love – reading and sharing and interacting with my fellow bloggers, fed the family (obviously!) then spent the whole afternoon and early evening in bed!

Hubby Dearest popped out and got a totally unhealthy KFC for dinner, but at least it meant I didn’t have to cook!

I snoozed, and read, and topped up on cold meds.

And I fully intend for today to be a day similar to that.

Yes, I know what some of you will be saying: “Ritu – switch off from the blog for a few days. Just get yourself better!” But, my blog is not a stress for me at all. It is something I love, and what helps me relax. I have gone past the time where I was constantly checking stats, worrying about who was reading and liking. It’s more about the conversations that come from the posts I write.  I love to read posts, and I absolutely love to ramble on in my posts! The next best thing to talking the hind legs off a donkey – I’m very good at that too!

For me ‘switching’ off from other duties, such as rushing around to make sure other family members are catered for, chilling in my PJ’s all day, being able to be worry-free about my own kids, that is ‘me’ time!

If I can squeeze in a manicure or a pedicure that is better, but as I am feeling unwell, just being home, cosy, with my fave people around me, and my blogily with me for company too, that is the best!

How would you ‘switch-off’ from life to get your batteries recharged?

Stay positive 🙂

Happy Sunday Peeps!

#SoCS Mar 17/18 – Green

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “green.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Gardens awakening

Rosebuds unfurling

Endless green shoots

Ever emerging

Now spring rears its head

I write this in hope, as we had a pretty glorious day yesterday, but the weatherman has predicted another cold snap, and possibly more snow this weekend, eek!

Catch ya later Peeps!

Happy Saturday Peeps!

March 15 – Flash Fiction  – Carrot Cake

Charli’s prompt this week:

March 16, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about carrot cake. It can be classic or unusual. Why is there cake? How does it feature in the story. Go where the prompt leads.

Oh Charli, just reading the prompt made me hungry! Carrot Cake is my favourite and  I have shared a great recipe here… and I am not cruel, I even shared my carrot cupcakes at the last Bloggers Bash, and the recipe and photos are here!

Right… here goes! A little tongue in cheek flashback to when Geoff and I baked goodies for the last Bloggers Bash.  It is (slightly) fictitious but I did really bake and make all those things! And Geoff makes a mean cake too… tried and tested on two separate occasions!!!

Cake-Off!
Lifting the last box from her bag, Ritu sighed with satisfaction.
The pastries, bites and cakes had all reached the venue intact: Nutella puff pastry twists, Rocky Road bites, and her favourite, carrot cake cupcakes.
Nothing else was laid on the table… until he turned up.
Armed with gluten-free, sugar-free fare, His Geoffleship laid his plates across the other table half.
The competition had arrived.
Soon the room began to fill with the attendees of the Bloggers Bash, ready for the Blog Awards…
But for these two bakers, the real winner would be who won the Great Bash Bake-off!

And if you are interested in the chance of more cake… maybe you need to get yourself to the Bash, it is overshadowing that other minor event, that happens to be the Royal wedding, on May 19th, 2018, in London! Get your tickets HERE!

#WritePhoto – Ahead

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

No matter whatever the situation

Keep your head held high

Don’t let the world drag you down

Don’t sit and ponder “Why?”

Just focus upon the time that’s coming

Always keep looking ahead

For the best is yet to come

Look forward to that instead
