#JusJoJan 13th – Embrace

Today, the prompt is brought to us by the lovely Laura. Thank you, Laura! Please be sure to visit Laura’s blog to read her posts and say hello. And follow her while you’re there if you’re not already.

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 13th, 2025 is “embrace.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Embrace is the more formal word for one of my favourite things.

A hug, or a cuddle.

I am a hugger. If you’ve met me, you would already know that.

I start and end any meeting with people I care about with hugs.

I get it from Pops. He is the best hugger in the world.

And I know there are people who don’t like hugs, so I am mindful but I have to tell you that I have converted a few over the years. Lil Princess is not fond of physical touch, so we have our side hugs that we have perfected, but she won’t accept them from just anyone…

I love my job because the children of that age are so affectionate and they are always throwing their arms around us, and within reason, and with safeguarding in place, there is not much a squeeze from a 4 year old can’t solve.

Did you know the health benefits of an embrace, or a hug?

That physical contact releases oxytocin, or the ‘love hormone’. It can support the bonding and emotional connection within a relationship.

Hugs are proven stress busters! (Unless you are one of those who finds it hard to be touched.)

A hug can bring your mood up!

They increase seratonin and dopamine, which are essential for well-being and happiness.

And the optimal length of time for a hug is 5-10 seconds, as it is deemed the most comfortable, and will reap some of the above benefits.

But, if you can manage 20 seconds…it can be good for your heart, reduce blood pressure and stress!

See, a hug is like medicine.

May be one day I will be one of those people out there who stand in the street with a placard saying Free Hugs!

Because I think we all need hugs, and imagine, if all the above could be reduced by a simple embrace, what a brighter world we would be in…

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 400 – Together

img_00411

“I thing togetherness is a very important ingredient to family life.”

Barbara Bush

What a beautiful quote you pulled up, today, Spidey!

I am still on a little high, as I write this.

On Saturday I met with my darling ‘big’ little brother, who was over from Finland for some business meetings in London.

We haven’t seen each other for over 3 years, what with being in another country, and and the madness of Covid, the last couple of years.

My brother and I have a very close relationship, but it wasn’t always the case. As kids, we definitely rubbed each other up the wrong way, but which sibling duo doesn’t?

As we grew older, our appreciation for one another grew stronger, as did our love.

But it still doesn’t help to be so far away from one another. Video calls are wonderful things. It means I get to see my nephews growing up, but nothing can beat face-to-face.

And you know I am a hugger. I come from a family of huggers, and I’d like to think of myself as a good hugger. I come from good hugging lineage. My Pops is the BEST hugger in the world, and anyone who has experienced one of his hugs will tell you so.

So, this hug, below, as well as plenty of others, and a few hours to talk, and be together, lit up my day/week/month/year!

It was short, but so needed. And I can’t wait for when he comes again, with the rest of the family, s we can spend even more quality time together. 🥰

So, tell me, how often do you get together with your family? And, are you a hugger?

Wishing you a wonderfully peaceful Sunday, Peeps!

Writespiration #91 – The Hug

Hugs – The prompt Sacha has given us for her Writespiration challenge this week.

I love a good hug! I think they can solve so many ills!

I wrote a little poem this time…

A cuddle, a hug, a squeeze

There’s nothing more likely to please.

It’s just like a smile, it costs nothing to you

But a well-timed hug , there’s a lot it can do

The shoulder squeeze,  a solidarity stance

A hug with a shrug, well they do it in France!

The cuddles with children they warm the heart

Snuggles with your Dearest, never to part

But I have to say, the best hug I’ve had

Is the deep embrace I get from my Dad.

Virtual hug Anyone?

My parents were always the huggy kind!
Same goes for the majority of my family!
Nothing a tight squeeze won’t make feel a little, if not a lot, better!
All together now (((squeeeeeeze)))!!!

If you want to do something that will help someone every day, in the new year, find anyone who needs it, n give em a hug!
