“It is not until you become a mother that your judgement slowly turns to compassion and understanding.”  Erma Bombeck

“Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn’t know you had, and dealing with fears you never knew existed.” Linda Wooten

I know in the UK we have already celebrated Mother’s day this year, but many of our Blog pals in other countries will be celebrating today.

Spidey pulled out some Mommy quotes for the day.

Essentially, every day is Mother’s day. We should appreciate, and celebrate our mothers every day, not just on one specific day, but hey, if the day is there, then spoil that woman! She will have sacrificed more than you may ever know to help mould you into the being you are.

She is probably a totally different person to what she was BC (Before Children).

Once you become a mother (or parent) yourself, only then to you actually feel the sacrifices she made, understand the unquestioning love she feels for you, see how hard it is to be a mum.

I know I struggle through some days of motherhood, and my mum jokes sometimes, that it is payback time. I was an awful eater/sleeper as a young child. I drove my mum to distraction with my fussiness. When I am at the same crossroads with my own children, then my appreciation for my mum goes up ten-fold.

How did she do it?

Whatever she did, however she did it, I always say this, if I am even half the mother that she has been to me, then I will be awesome because she truly is the best!

Happy Mother’s day to all those celebrating today!

Make it a special one Peeps!

“You can close your eyes to the things you don’t want to see, but you can’t close your heart to the things you don’t want to feel.” – Johnny Depp

Oh, I love to listen to a bit of Depp philosophy once in a while… and looking at him isn’t too much of a chore either! Swoon!

Think about it.

You can desensitise your senses if you want to.

Close your eyes so you can’t see something…

Block your ears if you don’t want to listen…

Hold your nose if you don’t want to smell…

Close your mouth if you don’t wish to taste…

Keep your hands to yourself if you don’t wish to touch…

But how can you stop ‘feeling’? It is easy to outwardly show that something is not affecting you, but there may be an inner turmoil churning inside of you as your heart feels emotions, good or bad.

Open yourselves up, and be real Peeps!

Have a happy Sunday!

“I’ve seen better days, but I’ve also seen worse.
I don’t have everything I want, but I do have all that I need.
I woke up with some aches and pains, but I woke up.
My life may not be perfect, but I am blessed.”

-Anon

Spidey just gives us a gentle reminder today, to be grateful for all we do have, rather and focussing on what we don’t.

It’s so easy to chase dreams, and feel hard done by when something we wish for isn’t really within our grasp. But if we sit back and look at what we actually have, we realise we are richer than we thought.

If you are reading this, you have internet, and a mobile device or computer. You have electricity. You can read. Most likely, you have a roof over your head, and food in the kitchen.

And most important of all, if you are reading this, you have LIFE, only the biggest of all the riches out there!

Enjoy your day Peeps!

Luck and love!

“Family is the most important thing in the world.” – Princess Diana

A fitting one for me today, thanks Spidey!

The last 2 months have been a fun, crazy, exciting, yet tiring time, as my in-laws have been out of the country.

It’s been like being our own little family of 4, with no other commitments to anyone else. Usually, we go to them every day, eat with them at least 5 times a week, and they help me with my children, picking them up from school as I stay later, to do my planning.

But for two months, it has been different. No rushing to other places, being able to get home straight from work, eating what we please, running plans past anyone…

Though it has been tough too. I pay through the teeth for extra after-school care for the kids, I can’t spend as long as I need at school, instead rushing home to make sure they are fed.

My mother-in-law is an angel though. She cooked kid friendly curries, and froze them in portion pots so I could at least make kids food quickly after school!

But tonight they are back!

Much as I love my total independence, I miss them far too much for them to be gone any longer! It’s not just for selfish reasons. Yes, our routine will get back to normal, and I will get lots of help, but also I will get my second mother back, so there is someone there to talk to, ask advice of, and the kids get their grandparents back too!

Family is so important, your own, as well as your in-laws, after all, they are the ones that made your ‘other half’! I know, without our families behind us, we would be nothing.

Happy Sunday Peeps!
