#SoCS June 17/17 – Sign

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “sign.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Do you ever think you know the score?
Knowing something’s gonna happen
That feeling of forboding
Or even feeling good
Because you felt ‘it’
It came to you
Telling you
A sign
Fate

A nonet inspired by the prompt!

Fine Art Friday – Music and Sketches

The other day, I was going through my bedside cabinet drawers. They are fit to bursting, and something had fallen down the back, preventing the drawers from closing fully.

Instead of dislodging the offending item, closing the drawer, and getting back to whatever I was meant to be doing, I started a reminisce.

The bottom drawer is full of musical song-books.

Ones I helped to create.

During my teenage years, we had lots of family weddings, and my cousins and I decided we wanted to learn some of the traditional songs and dances so, going forward, we could continue the traditions. Of course, though I can speak and understand Punjabi, I cannot read or write it.

So came the fun job of trying to write it in Roman English, Phonic Punjabi!

And my ‘book’ was very popular within the family. For my own wedding, I typed and printed several copies which ended up in the far-flung corners of the world! This resulted in a few reproduced fancy copies being made, and adapted over the years!

The top left one was my original one, then my cousins printed them ‘offically’ for use at their weddings

And from my little idea there were off-shoots! My mum collects them whenever she goes to a wedding and sees them, then gives them to me!

Some of the ‘spin-offs’!

And also, as I dug deeper into the drawer, I found a whole heap of printed out Bollywood song lyrics! Cue a good hour of me sitting on the floor, surrounded by books, and paper, crooning to myself, hoping I wasn’t waking the children! (Don’t ask me to sing, because you know me, I probably would break out into song with not much encouragement!)

Then I came across a sketchbook from my GCSE years. I didn’t take Art as a subject, but I always enjoyed doodling and came across these pictures.

Palm tree paradise? Yes, please!

No, it’s not a self-portrait! I was never allowed a fringe growing up, I rebelled and had one cut in my late 30’s!

I think this may have been inspired by the Ball we had in my final year at school, which I didn’t go to!

So there you have it! Ritu’s Artwork, and Musical Endeavours!!!!

Ritu’s Healthy Eating – Week 45 – #icandothis

wp-1492120543707.

Woe is me!

I have been a truly naughty girl this past week!

Although I guess I am allowed to celebrate after my Little ABBA’s Best Overall Blog win! ;P

But I have been eating, for England, and not all of it has been healthy! The scales have been shouting at me every morning, but I am rather scared of what it will say this morning!

Here is a selection of the foods I ate this week…

I didn’t eat dinner last night, but at a whole pack of biscuits and ice cream instead! I was craving sugar… and not the healthy kind…

And the painful result of this week….?

I put on 2lb!!!

I WILL get myself under control again, you wait and see Peeps!

Until next Friday then,w here I hope to have something better to report!!!

Twilight – #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week.

Twilight.
It was that time again.
The mists rolled over the hills.
The sun had lowered below the horizon, darkness had yet to envelop the world.
That time… when humans feared the hills.
That time… when loved ones went missing.
That time… when the creatures felt safe to roam.
That time… when they feasted.
Before their eyes failed them in the inky black of the night, the creatures scoured the hills for any living thing, be it a four-legged mammal, or two.
They didn’t discern between either.
The sound of a heartbeat alerted them to their next meal.
They sensed the blood pulsing through veins, calling out to be drained.
Sated, they crawled back to their hiding places, to recharge… ready for the next Twilight…

Parenthood Passport #ThrowbackThursday

A repost of an older post of mine… enjoy!

You know when you start that journey called parenthood, you should really be issued with a passport.

You don’t need a visa to become a parent (though seeing some mums and dads out there, you’d think there would be some requirements!), but there are so many stops, destinations, along the way… Wouldn’t it be great if you could get a special stamp for the different experiences that you manage to get through?I’ll start with a few… I’m sure you can think of others to add to the list.

  • I survived the sleepless night stage! Matchsticks are helping the eyes stay open, but I’m still standing…
  • I got pooped/peed on, while changing a nappy! Ewwwwws!
  • I’ve experienced the projectile vomiting craziness! How the heck do they do that?!
  • Crying stamp level 1 – I’ve cried when they didn’t eat that flavoursome gloop that it took me hours to make… Yet it took them 3 minutes flat to eat that readymade rubbish!
  • We finally got them out of nappies! Yes the carpet needs a good clean from the accidents…and I’ll probably need a new mattress,  but we did it!
  • I survived a long distance journey in a car with kids…. And came out ALIVE!!! (And so did they!)
  • Separate stamp for the same, but in an airplane!
  • I coped with a tantrum in public, and didn’t look like a totally incapable parent!  (A hard one to achieve!)
  • I rushed my child to A & E… For no reason whatsoever! Paranoid parent stamp!
  • Crying stamp level 2 – I sniffled through waving my kids through that school gate for the first time.
  • I survived sending them to their first sleepover…  handing the reigns of my child over to someone else!
  • I came out of hosting a children’s sleepover alive. FULLSTOP!
  • They pushed, they tried it on, and I still didn’t buckle. The testing limits stamp.
  • The pre teen pretend hormonal tantrums of 7 year old daughters… Going through this right now… Not sure how I will cope!!

As they get older, there are still many stamps to collect.

  • I managed to totally embarrass my offspring! Oh no could get this one dozens of times!!!
  • I survived them walking in on us in a compromising situation, and managed to style it out stamp!
  • We got through the that talk stage…. And even managed to field some pretty awkward questions!
  • The teenage years… FULLSTOP!
  • I teased my children through their first crushes!
  • I sat nervously, waiting for my child to come home after their first time out, unsupervised!
  • I managed to allow my child to go on a date! ( a hard one for dads and their daughters!)
  • Crying stamp level 3 – Oh My God! My baby can’t be ready to leave me and go to college/University??!! Still. I managed to let go…

It goes on, through to their relationships, and marriage to them having their own children… There are so many more stamps to collect…

Which other Parenthood Passport stamp would you include?
