#SoCS Nov. 19, 2022 – Morning

Linda’s SoCS prompt.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “morning.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

I do love a morning.

I am definitely a morning person, more as I get older.

That peace and quiet I get on the weekend before the teens arise and before Hubby Dearest (who is a night owl to my early bird) gets up is my special time.

I spend time with my Sonu Singh, read, chill out, have a cup of tea, and enjoy the moments.

Because my weekday mornings are nothing like that.

Getting up super early because I have to is different to waking up earlier than the rest on other days. I have to coordinate myself and the teens, get bags organised, lunch sorted, breakfast eaten, and beat school at a decent time so I can be chilled out when the children arrive!

However, I do get a little miffed at my weekend morning partner, Sonu Singh, who decides to sing into my ear early every day because he’s a cat, and, well, FOOD!

Chai And A Chat #211 #ChaiAndAChat

Happy Monday, Peeps! Sorry I’m late, today with my Chai. and Chat, but I have just had one of those weekends! But, I’m here now. Better late than never!

Got your drink?

  • If we were having chai, I’d tell you that work went by in a blur. The second school week flew by, and there was so much going on, that I didn’t have a moment to catch my breath. We had parents’ evenings, on top of other meetings, and it just felt like a whirlwind!
  • If we were having chai, I’d tell you there were a few hairy moments, with awkward conversations needing to be had, but as we have to, we got through it!
  • If we were having chai, I’d excitedly share with you that we had our OFSTED report results officially, and we have been graded as a GOOD school! This was what we were aiming for, to celebrate had a meal out together on Friday night which was wonderful. So that means, unless anything suddenly changes, we are free to breathe and enjoy our teaching for at least 4 years. It’s a shame, though, isn’t it, that this threat of inspecting, even for a school that knows it is doing well, can cause so much stress? And it makes teachers lose their enjoyment. of the job they want to do.
  • If we were having chai, I’d mention that the garden is looking beautifully autumnal, right now, as the golds begin to show themselves to us…
  • If we were having chai, I’d also say that I thought cricket was done for the year, but on Saturday Lil Man was called up to ask if he fancied playing in an indoor cricket match for the club. My goodness indoor cricket is a whole other beast! I was expecting to have to give up my whole Sunday, but it was a quick match that lasted 45 minutes. The rules were totally different, with regards to scoring, so I was lost, but they won!
  • If we were having chai, I’d have to mention Sonu Singh. Now I am pretty sure he is not allowed buttered crumpets, but it didn’t stop him sitting there and staring at my breakfast the other morning… cheeky little so and so!

This week I still have meetings galore, including a school improvement officer who comes regularly, to see that we are all doing as we should be, whilst providing support, as well as a meeting in a totally different town, at one of our sister schools, to talk about the Early Years. We have a balance bike workshop for the children, as well as celebrating Children in Need on Friday! (Oh, and it will be our 21st wedding anniversary, too.) And I have my first check-up appointment about how the HRT is going, too!

And while you’re here, did you sign up for my mailing list? I am in the middle of writing an exclusive Chickpea Curry Lit story for my subscribers, and there will be news, tips and even recipes! You know you want to join… go on! Click the pic below to sign up!

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 401 – Together Part 2

img_00411

“Time together as a family is a gift.”

Joanna Gaines

Yes, I am revisiting Togetherness as it felt apt, again, this week.

For two reasons.

The first is that Pops and Mum are back after being away for four weeks in Kenya, doing the whole togetherness thing with family there. My mum lost one of her brothers during the pandemic and could not see him or grieve with her other brother at all. This visit was filled with sadness and happiness, too.

They visited many families who have lost people over the last couple of years.

Then spent quality time with my uncle and aunts.

We all know how precious and fickle life is. In your golden years that is felt even more keenly. Mum and her brother live in different countries. That distance feels bigger, now, at a time they would love to be a short drive away from one another.

However they packed many memories into the few weeks they were there, and have come back with many stories for my brother and me to listen to.

The second one is to say that family is not only blood-related.

On Friday we went out for a meal, my colleagues and I. The whole school staff were invited, and a fair few were there. It was an emotional gathering for various reasons, and one thing our Head Teacher said was that she considers us all family.

And we are.

You sometimes spend more time with the people you work with than with your own family, which is a drain. But, having that bond with your colleagues makes those long hours pass much more pleasantly. So an evening with people I had already spent the day with was still as much of a pleasure as spending time with my own family.

And, as an aside, I have my friends who are more like family, and you, my Blogily, as I always call you!

So, tell me, do you have people you consider ‘family’ outside of your blood relations?

Wishing you a wonderfully peaceful Sunday, Peeps!
