Sue’s Songs For The Seasonally Challenged – Santa Baby

A couple of weeks back Sue Vincent rewrote the lyrics to We Three Kings in her own festive way, and I felt compelled to sing and record it…

She’s done it again, but this time Eartha Kitt’s Santa Baby!

If you remember a couple of years ago, I had already sung this one, the original version… you can check it out here.

And here are Sue’s amended lyrics, sung by me!

Excuse the artistic license here and there, and at the end, as there were less lyrics than music!

Santa baby, I’d like to have a quick word or two,
With you,
Now you’ve not much to do, Santa baby,
My Christmas stocking felt a bit light…
Santa honey, I know that you brought chocolate and cheese…
I’m pleased…
But the dog ate all these, Santa baby,
Perhaps we could redress this tonight?
Think of all the sites I’d see
If you would just deliver me an SUV…
Four wheel drive, economy…
Just park it under the cherry tree.
Oh, Santa cutie, my clutch is really on its way out,
I’ll pout,
If I can’t get about, Santa baby,
So let’s see if we can’t make it right.
Don’t expect it all for free…
I’ll even buy a ticket for the lottery…
Help me out and I’ll desist
From publishing those photos of the Mom’s you kissed!
Ho, Santa baby, I’m not sure Mrs Santa would care
To share
All that ‘mistletoe fare’, Santa baby
So hurry down my chimney tonight.

Hope you enjoy! ❤

#SoCS Dec. 29/18 – Ask Another

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ask someone else.” Either ask someone for a prompt word or, if you can’t, turn on a TV or a radio and choose a word from the first sentence you hear. Enjoy!

Squat.

Yes, that is the word I chose after switching on the TV and finding Deuce Bigalo: Male Gigolo on the screen!

So, what can I write about squat?

Diddly squat. I do like that phrase… Where did it come from? Apparently it is thought to have come from the US, where the word doodle might have been used first – meaning poops. Then doodly squat turned to diddly squat, meaning the least amount, or not knowing anything at all!

But I lie… I do know about squatting.

It’s apparently the preferred way to go back home… except I wasn’t born there, so I am happy to sit atop my ivory throne and do the do, if you know what I mean.

Though the West has certainly caught on to the fact that squatting is the natural way to go, and just yesterday I saw an ad for a squat stool, rather like a child’s toilet stool, to help them up when they are toilet training. This time it’s for adults, and you are supposed to put your feet on it when you go, whilst sitting on your ivory throne (because you are too modern for the real squat, you know!) so your legs are squishing up against your body, rather like if you were squatting... And that is supposed to be the next best thing…

Jees, did I really write about toilet habits?

Sorry, that is true Stream Of Consciousness for you!

I could have just told you of the aches and pains caused by me trying the exercise version of the squat, in the 30 day squat challenge a few years ago… but that would just have been tame… and no, I didn’t get the buns of steel!!

#BookReview – Oath Keeper by Shelley Wilson @ShelleyWilson72

Another great book I finished in one night. In fact, I was up until 5am finishing it (long story as to why I was up that late, but still, I got great reading time, and thanks to being mum, I was up as usual, because, well, kids – you know!)

SONY DSC

I read Shelley’s Oath Breaker when it came out, and I mentioned how werewolves and I didn’t really mix, but that Shelley had converted me… (read that review here) So I was really excited when the sequel to her book was finally announced!

So first, the blurb…

She chose the pack. But does the pack still want her?

Mia Roberts is struggling to fit in with the Ravenshood pack. Although her brother is an alpha, he’s not even convinced she has the werewolf gene. If she’s not a wolf or a hunter, then what is she?

The answers lie inside Hood Academy. But when children in the wolf community start shifting too soon, Mia worries that her hunter father may be responsible.

She wants to help her pack, but she also needs answers. Can she keep her brother from killing her father long enough to find out who she really is?

Loyalty, friendships, and family bonds are tested as Mia steps into her power and discovers her true identity.

And my thoughts…

I had a while to wait for the sequel to Oath Breaker to arrive, and when it did, I was not disappointed!
Reading about Mia and her turmoil during her discovery of her own from was so realistic, I was feeling the pain at times!

We are reunited with Mia, Zac, Cody, Elizabeth, Sebastian et al, and see them battling the evils that are the Parker Family, with some new twists thrown in. Can they save the werewolves?
Will Hunters and Werewolves ever be able to live side by side in peace?
Will she be able to finally be an Oath Keeper?
Well, I’m not telling you that!
I’m only saying that you need to read the book to find out, and if you haven’t read the first, make sure you read that too!

One Liner Wednesday – #1LinerWeds

“I’ll be back.”

The Terminator & Ritu

It’s the last One-Liner of the year so I thought I’d join in, one last time, but not last for good if you know what I mean?

As of the new year, I am bowing out of my daily challenges, so I can actually get my rewrite and editing done on those blessed WIP of mine. I’ll still be around, you know me, I can’t stay away. Spidey and Chai will definitely be happening, it’s just the other stuff.. for a while at least…

2019 will be the year.

I hope…!

No, I don’t hope, I will make something happen. By the end of the year, there will be a book available, with my name as the author… whether it is by indie means or other… it will be there, and with any luck, another will be well on the way too!

Now, I just need your writerly vibes to help me along!
