I Attended A Big Fat Indian Wedding…Again! #Loveuary❤ Day 5.1

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of going to a wedding. A great event to go to in this month of love1 #Loveuary! It was my Hubby Dearest’s cousin getting married, and as previous weddings in their family have shown, it was going to be a grand affair…

Grand indeed!

The decor was amazing, both in the Gurdwara and in the reception venue, which happened to be The Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane, in London! (very La-di-da!)

Aside from a huge vase with an arrangement suddenly exploding in the middle of the ceremony (Goodness knows what happened there!) there was nothing amiss. It was luxury from beginning to end!

When we arrived at the reception venue, there were little envelopes with our names on them. No simple seating plan here… inside each envelope was your table number! And then at your place on the table, we all had personalised menus, with our names on them too!

And the food… oh the food! I can assure you that my diet went totally out of the window yesterday! From the absolutely amazing breakfast buffet, to the canapes, the starters, to the main lunch, and the desserts, wedding cake and petit fours, there was no space left in my stomach!

There was a band and singer playing English songs for the initial part of the party, then we had a celebrity guest, Sukhbir Singh, a Bhangra Singer, originating from Kenya, and now living in Dubai. I felt a little at home here as I knew exactly who he was… his songs played at many of my own family functions, but there were a lot of people, the bride’s mum and sister to name a few, who didn’t know who he was!! He was accompanied by four dhol players which perked my Lil Man up no end, as he also plays the Dhol!

And the couple themselves… Well, here they are, taking their Lawaan (nuptial rounds), cutting the cake with a rather large sword (Eek!) and sat at their table. Beautiful couple, wish them every happiness!

Okay, I know you will ask… here is me dressed up in my new outfit too!

It was a lovely day, the rain didn’t disturb us, and the whole experience was extremely elegant! What a wonderful day!

(I’ll be working hard to rid myself of those extra calories for a good few weeks, though, I think!)

#SoCS Feb. 4/17 – Hair

Linda’s SoCS prompt this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “hair.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

A quick one this time.

I’ll be busy today as I am attending a close family wedding. There were lots of last minute preparations, beauty wise, with regards to eyebrows, nails, hair removal etc… And the covering of my roots, and stray white hairs!

Somehow this week passed me by and I got to Friday with no time for the hair dying…So 6.30am  Friday morning found me with a hair dye kit, desperately trying to cover my greys!

I couldn’t do it in the evening as it was my Brother in Law’s birthday, and then I had all the ironing, to do, and accessories to get ready.

It’s a Sikh wedding. We need to be at the temple by 9.30am. The temple is 1.5 hours away… I need to get the kids, as well as myself, ready, and at my in-laws by 7.30am so we can leave in time…

Somehow I am scraping this together, by a hair‘s breadth, as I don’t want to miss the challenge!

Have a great day! I’ll try and post some weddng pics later!!!

15 Years Married

Fifteen years ago today, I woke extra early.

I was primped and preened to perfection and dressed as a bride… your bride.

Five years, we had been waiting, to make this official, and finally the day was here.

It flew.

A magical day where I felt like a Princess, finally swept off her feet by her Prince Charming.

And the last fifteen years have flown equally fast.

Two beautiful children, one fur baby, our own home, and each other.

What more could I want?

Nothing more.

Just many more years, like the ones we have already spent together.

Wishing a Happy 15th Anniversary to my darling Hubby Dearest. I love you soooooo much, and feel blessed to have you by my side 💖

The Reception and Other News!

It was the final part of the wedding yesterday. A reception in a beautiful Manor House Venue in Hampshire. We got there, almost, before the Sat Nav decided we had arrived, yet we were in the middle of a construction site!

A few moments of panic, then we found it, tucked away!

We were lucky, it a glorious day!

Being as it was a fusion wedding, Indian to English, the entertainment was mixed and there was this great moving band serenading groups of people as they mingled, and nibbled on canapes! That’s the Bride’s Sister In Law, having a boogie!

The happy couple. Don’t they look gorgeous!

Lil Princess loved it, running around the manicured lawns, then posing for photos! Oh, then the spinning round on the dancefloor until you got dizzy bit! And there was a liquid nitrogen ice cream stall, where you could order your ice cream and it was made and frozen in front of you! Cool!!!!

There were also the obligatory peacocks roaming around the stately home grounds, and we happened upon this albino peacock!

And here is me, in my blue garb, ready for the party!

Oh and in other news, A very proud mummy here!

Hubby Dearest and Lil Man didn’t go as it was the football season’s last match and the end of season team presentation.

Well, what a way to finish it! He scored a goal, and came home with 2 trophies! The one that all players get for completing, and a special one for commitment to the team!

We were late coming home, so once I had scraped Lil Princess off her car seat, changed her and got her to bed, he was fast asleep. I’m off to hug and congratulate him now!

Have a wonderful Monday Peeps!
