One Liner Wednesday #1LinerWeds – They’re Back!

“No matter what peole say about in-laws, I gotta say mine are pretty special.”

Ritu

Finally, after 6 weeks, they are due back. Tonight.

And much as it is lovely to be ourselves for a while, we all miss them so much when they disappear for 6 weeks!

So welcome back Mum and Dad!

#SoCS April 6/19

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “fab.” Use it as a word or find a word beginning with “fab.” As always, use any way you’d like. Have fun!

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the prompt was icecream!

I don’t know if you have these anywhere other than the UK but here we have ice lollies called Fab!

They are a mix of strawberry and vanilla ice, dipped in chocolate and sprinkles!

Have you had one?

I must admit I am not a big fan, but the kids love them!

Fab lollies are older than me… introduced by Lyons in 1967, to coincide with the popularity of Thunderbirds, alongside another lolly called Zoom which was more rocket shaped for the boys… Apparently girls would have prefered the ‘feminine’ shape of a Fab, rather than a Zoom lolly…

Personally, the ice lolly is more my thing!

April 4: Flash Fiction Challenge – Fire

Charli at the Carrot Ranch, with her prompt for this week:

April 4, 2019, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about fire. It can be a flame that burns or a light that inspires. Follow the flames and go where the prompt leads!

Out Of The Frying Pan, Into The Fire

I sat at the bar, nursing my whiskey. Needed to be sensible. I couldn’t afford to be reckless with my drink again.
I hadn’t meant to leave the barbeque unattended, but after a few drinks with my guests, I forgot it, and turned to see the flames licking the sky.
Gina wasn’t planning on letting me back in the house. I had to keep my cool, give her a few hours, then I’d go back, and she’d forgive me.
But would she?
I threw the fiery liquid down my throat in a single gulp.
“Bartender, another one please.”

Threshold #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt:

The start of every day is a new threshold.

A new beginning.

You never quite know what life will throw at you next.

Just be calm in the knowledge that, unless it’s your last, the next day will come.

Each day has its ups and downs, sometimes the downs take a while to turn back upwards… but they do.

Just remember, you start a new chapter every day.
