Leaves overturned by
Feet stepping on broken twigs
Each snap a pleasure
The crackle of winter walks
Appreciating outside

Broken hearts can heal
With a little tenderness
It’s never over

#SoCS Nov. 18/17 – Psst!

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “psst, or any other attention-getting noise or word.” Find a word or noise that you’d use to get someone’s attention, and start your post off with it. Enjoy!

Ahem… Cough, cough… Are you listening?

I feel I need to be a little honest here…

I’ve been a bad girl.

Well, okay, not like law-breaking awful, but still, I have been naughty.

You know I spent all that time posting all that yummy healthy food, and my weight loss journey?

I’ve only gone and fallen off the wagon!

Okay, so it’s not as bad as it could have been… but ever since Easter (wow that is a while back!) I have been struggling with my willpower. Too many chocolate eggs around didn’t help… and I found myself craving the things I shouldn’t have.

If I wanted something, one wasn’t enough, I needed two. But I managed to control myself for a while longer.

But…

Since the summer holidays, OMG, I can’t stop eating!

I try so hard to be good. And I am. During the day.

But once the evening hits, I am unable to stop myself from pigging out on the stupidest of things!

As a result, I am now at the stage where I need to lose half a stone, or seven lbs to make me feel better about myself again!

Eeeeek!

But, since it’s anniversary weekend, don’t expect me to start this weekend!

Maybe I’ll be part way there by Christmas…

Now, let me get back to my chocolate fruit!

Flash Fiction Challenge – Meshed #CarrotRanch #FlashFiction @Charli_Mills

I’m taking a chance on one of Charli’s 99-word prompts over at The Carrot Ranch!

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, and I was prompted to write something that tied with this momentous occasion when reading Charli’s prompt this week. ❤

November 16, 2017 prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) use the word mesh in a story. Mesh is both an object and a verb, which you can freely explore. You can play with its sound, too. Go where the prompt leads.

Here’s my take!

Meshed
Sitting together in the backseat, our fingers met and slowly entwined. Our eyes met and a smile spread across our faces.
It had been a big day today. Emotional, but worth every tear I had shed.
After vows had been taken, congratulations had been exchanged, music and merriment, feasting and festivities had finished, the final goodbyes had started.
Looking back, I saw my family waving. Looking forward, his family held their arms open, welcoming me.
It was then I realised that there was no them and us, but two families, forever meshed together because of our love and union.

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

I thought I’d continue the adventures of Barbie and Ken!

“Red sky at night, shepherds delight. Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. That’s what my dad always used to say,” Ken pondered. “It’s 4.30 pm now. What does it mean in the afternoon?”
“Why don’t you go and ask a shepherd, babe? I don’t know!” Barbie lifted her eyebrows and glanced over at her boyfriend, before lowering her gaze to her nails, which she had been filing with great care.
“But babe, it’s not Christmas yet. And you know the shepherds only come out then, for the nativity!”
