Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “co-” Find a word that uses “co” as a prefix and use it in your post. Have fun!
I’m tired.
You’d think, with a 4.5 week vacation, I’d be anything but tired.
Well, the first week, or so, I was in school setting up my new classroom.
The following two weeks, I managed to avoid going into school, even though I wanted to pop in on several occasion to just check things were okay!
So, instead, I started my edit, with gusto!
And in 2 weeks, I had completed the main restructuring and tweaking of my book.
That was a long time looking at a screen though.
My eyes suffered, my head suffered, and even my poor screen suffered. It has developed a flicker, rather like a nervous twitch, that starts up after a few hours of me using it.
And the mental exhaustion has kicked in.
I’ve sent the MS to a few readers, three known, trusted readers, and two who are writers I have met via a FaceBook group I am an active member of.
So for the next few days, I shall be operating on auto-pilot. Actually, it might be a good time for Hubby Dearest to rise from the Hurt Foot Brigade, and co-pilot for a while, so I can rest up a bit, while he deals with the kids demands!
(Who am I kidding? Firstly, I am too much of a control freak to totally let go. He’s there. He does plenty. It’s just not how I want things done, so I do them again, anyway! And secondly, even if I did, I’d end up implementing more changes to the MS as suggested by the readers, because I CAN’T SWITCH off!!!)

Charli’s Carrot Ranch prompt today:

August 15, 2019, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that includes a sweet jam. It can take you to the kitchen or the smokey room of a back-alley bar. What makes it sweet? Go where the prompt leads you!
Since I’m neck-deep in editing my novel, I thought it would be a good time to introduce you to some of the characters, adapted from the novel, in a situation they find themselves, on a train in India. Meet Aashi, my main character and Arjun, someone who may become quite important to her!
Train Jam
Arjun peeled back the cover of the tray and peered at the contents.
Two cooling pieces of toast lay there, with a pat of white butter and a container containing something that was jelly-like with a luminous pink glow.
“What’s that?” he grimaced.
“I think you’ll find it’s jam.” Aashi couldn’t help but smirk at his expression.
“That’s not like any jam I’ve ever seen before.”
“Well you’re not in England anymore, either. It’s Indian jam, made to cater for the Western travellers. Probably filled with sugar, colouring, sugar, flavouring and a bit more sugar. Just don’t expect strawberries!”

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week:

I saw him leaving this morning.
Jack Frost.
He shouldn’t be here right now. It looks like he took a detour on his journey to distribute his icy gifts to the world.
And there’s no frost, left in his wake. He knew it was meant to be summer here, not icy winter.
That must be why he’s taking his strides in such a forlorn manner.
Weary Jack Frost lost his way.
He must be getting old…
