Reasons To Stop… Reasons To Not…

I sit here often, thinking of taking a break.

A blogging break.

A real one.

You know, no visiting blogs, writing, reading, interacting… nothing.

Yet I can’t do it.

I think of the reasons to stop, yet there are arguments that voice themselves, making me think I can’t just up and disappear.

Reasons to stop

  • Real life is manic – whose isn’t though, eh!
  • My kids need to see me doing things rather than being on a pc or laptop a lot of the time… am I setting a good example?
  • That WIP isn’t going to get itself finished
  • Certain people think maybe I’m more involved in my online life than reality
  • No one is really going to miss me that much – I am one of millions of bloggers out there, there is plenty to read without my mindless ramblings

Reasons to not

  • I love my blogily
  • Reading and writing feeds my creativity
  • I love to spread positivity
  • I get to switch off from the worries of life and enjoy my time interacting with my friends around the world
  • I feel I can really be ‘me’ on my blog
  • I’m not in the right frame of mind to be writing my WIP at the moment but I don’t want to lose the love of writing
  • I am perfectly capable of switching off when I need to do other things (just!)
  • I enjoy it. This is my one outlet, my one stress reliever. I don’t drink, go out regularly with friends, go to the gym etc, this is my one ‘vice’ so to speak.

I did decide to post less… but I still end up on here at least once a day, taking part in creative prompts, and reading via my reader during the day.

I’m still sharing the odd posts for others, but not as active on my blogging group as I know that took a lot of time out of my days; on an interacting and sharing mission, I was – hands and eyes glued to my phone so I could be a fully active participant. I still do some days, but not every single one.

The long and the short of it is that I can’t let go. And I don’t want to. I have seen a few close blogging friends take that blog break leap, and know that it hasn’t affected their blog or interactions in the long run, but I just can’t!

I think my blog is keeping my sanity, in all honesty! I can rant, I can joke, I can be serious… and I know that y’all got my back!

So I guess you’re stuck with me Peeps!

Have a great Tuesday  – I need to go pack my bags for my road trip to my parents tomorrow!

Half Term Is Here! (Stream of Consciousness)

Phew!

It has been a short term so far, but no less exhausting than the 7/8 week ones we experienced before Christmas so this week break was welcomed.

The cold weather doesn’t help, but hopefully, the weather-induced downs will subside soon!

I had it all planned…

Initially, we planned to spend the week with my parents…  I could spend time with them and relax, recharge batteries… then all sorts of other plans and prebooked events cropped up!

So no long drive, and instead, the week would consist of me ferrying kids to places, but there would be plenty of writing time to… maybe that WIP would become a completed first draft!

But no… things aren’t ever that simple, are they?!

The trip back home was long overdue, so Hubby Dearest said I should fit it in, even if only a couple of days… meaning that we are apart for Valentines this year…😪 But then, isn’t it really just a commercialised day, when, in fact, we can celebrate our love every day? And it’s worth the sacrifice to spend time with my Pops and Mum.

So, instead, the week has so far consisted of, and will continue with…

  • Birthday dinners
  • Bit of pampering (Nails, etc)
  • Friend’s birthday party (and some alone shopping time for me!)
  • A day in (today), as my car is out for service and MOT (another expense that wasn’t needed in February, with all the family birthdays too!)
  • Taxi service for indoor cricket training (Lil Man)
  • Charity shop visits to find some bits and bobs for Nursery
  • A sleepover for Lil Princess
  • Driving home for 2 days
  • A mega birthday for Lil Princess who will turn to double digits soon!
  • A single Sunday free from any planned activities before the school term starts again on Monday!

PHEW!

See!

No… where is the writing time in all that???? And I need to catch up on sleep too!!!

It’s Monday, and 9.30am as I type this.

I’ve been up since 6am, getting the car ready for pick up so it can be serviced, tidying up the kitchen, doing laundry, seeing off my working Hubby, occupying kids, paying megabucks for the car (whoever wanted a Mercedes? Dang expensive cars!), reading blogs… I feel like I’ve already done a day’s work!

Can I go back to bed?

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 156

img_00411

“When it rains, look for rainbows, when it’s dark, look for stars.” – Anon

Spectacular quote Spidey, and something I strive to share with you all every week!

It’s another form of that old adage – every cloud has a silver lining.

We are all going to be blessed with good times, and ‘cursed’ with the bad.

But in every situation, there is a positive.

It may be so hard to find, but if you look deep enough, it will shine for you, and you will realise it’s not a negative.

Find your rainbow, locate that star, and hold on to it Peeps, it’ll lead you to better days!

Happy Sunday Peeps!

#SoCS Feb 10/18 – Tail/Tale

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “tail/tale.” Use one, used them both, you decide. Enjoy!

Let me tell you a tale about a fox
A cunning fox who wore fetching socks
This dapper mammal would use his charms
To ‘fox’ even the most capable alarms
He’d work his way through chickens galore
Sneak off, then hear the farmers roar
They’d know the fox who’d tricked them so
He’d leave a sock wherever he did go
But catch him? No, they never could
Until one farm dog swore he would
He sat and hatched a daring plan
Never tried before, by dog, or man
A trap was laid, the dog stood watch
Praying his plan just wouldn’t botch
And, as luck would have it, succeed, he did
Of that cunning fox, they were finally rid!
All that was left, causing Fox to wail
Was a cut-off, furry foxy tail.
