Bad Moms – A Review

It’s been quite a weekend for me. For a change, this mum actually had a social life! Not one event, but two!

Friday night was a party to celebrate 0ur Good Ofsted report, and yesterday my good friend took me, along with two other mums, to go and see Bad Moms for my birthday treat!

Oh, what a fantastic film! It’s not often that a film resonates almost completely with me, but I spent the film either nodding in agreement, or pissing myself laughing at what was happening!

bm1

We have a working mum who is juggling a home, and family life, two children, a jerk of a husband, and a part-time job which has become very full time.

There is another mum, who has spent her mothering career as a single mum, and has embraced the ‘slutty mom’ tag she has been given.

The final mum in the main trio is a young downtrodden housewife with 4 kids under a certain age, with an overbearing husband.

Then you get the PTA mums – you know the kind, the ones that appear to be perfect at everything, the ones who influence the thinking of all the other mums. Woe betide you if you do not conform to their idea of perfect mothering!

Here you have Alpha mum, Total Suck Up mum, and Hanger On Mum.

I won’t tell you lots about the story, but suffice to say, all four of us enjoyed it immensely and came out of it feeling like great Bad Moms! It’s a total feel-good movie, but as a mum, you will relate to so much  of it! (Hubbies and dads, might be worth watching…)

All I’ll say is ‘Get your tits up!’ (You’ll understand once you watch the film!!!)

Next stop… Brigitte Jones Baby!

“Keep looking up… That’s the secret of life!” – Snoopy

Who’da thunk it? We found wisdom in the words from a dog this week!

I gotta say this Snoopy quote kinda encapsulates everything that I base my thinking in general on.

You have to believe that there is better to come. If you look up, think positive, then positive things will come to you, and you will stay serene yourself!

I know things are not always easy, heck sometimes they are so bad, you think you will never be able to look up, so scared are you of stepping in another pile of sh*t, but you need to believe that the path before you will clear.

Have faith in what is to come.

I have always been taught to believe that He will only throw what you can handle at you, so if things are looking really bad, that means that He thinks you are strong enough to handle it and come out the other side smelling of roses.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and hey, we are all still here, arent we!

Stay positive Peeps and have a wonderful Sunday!

Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 6 #icandothis

Well hello all you wonderful Peeps!

Sorry I haven’t done my healthy living update for a couple of weeks but school/life/family… you know, those things, they kinda get in the way!

But last time I mentioned that I was starting Slimming World to kick start things again for me, weight-loss wise!

So, I have been following the plan for 2 weeks now, and I can honestly say I have really enjoyed the ideas behind the eating, and weight loss reasoning. I am eating well, I am never really hungry either!

So, to start, here are a few foody pics to whet your appetite!

Did you see? Even my favourite chocolate snack, Malteasers, featured! I can eat Malteasers on this plan! I am so happy!

Yesterday I went out to dinner to celebrate our school’s Good Ofsted report, and I felt a lot more confident in myself too! And I didn’t have to starve myself, heck I was even able to have a wine spritzer!

And my loss?

Well, after 2 weeks on SW I lost

5.5lbs!

That’s a total of

10.5lbs!

Thank you all for your encouragement!!!!!

#SoCS Sept. 17/16 – ‘-est’

Linda’s SoCS prompt this Saturday…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “-est.” Base your post on any word you can add the suffix “est” to. Enjoy!

The Best!

Last night I went out for a meal with my colleagues. It wasn’t just a general get together, but a celebration of a fantastic achievement for our school, staff and pupils.

I don’t know if you recall, but just before the summer holidays, we were winding down,t hen got the stressful call regarding Ofsted coming to visit. Ofsted, for those of you that don’t know, is the inspecting body that the government has in place, who spring inspections of schools and then gives them gradings and constructive advice.

Two inspections ago we were rated Good. It would be nigh on impossible for us to ever get Outstanding, with the results we get. This is not because of the  lack of effort on the part of the teachers and children, but the demographic of our kids is such that there are many from disadvantaged backrounds, or EAL (second language) children, so they are always wonderful,b ut not ‘quite there’.

Three years ago we got another ‘call’ and they came. This inspection was triggered by data regarding the then current Year 6 children, who were a very tough year group with many issues. We had new management in place, lots of new strategies, and a school full of willing and able staff and pupils. But we got Requires Improvement.

It wasn’t the worst. We didn’t get Special Measures, where the head gets removed, and the school could get taken over by an academy, changing the structure forever.

But it was disheartening, nevertheless. Everyone works hard but it wasn’t enough. We spent the last year and a half with various officials visiting constantly, and much restructuring happening, policies changing, and shuffle arounds of staff. And they came…

And we got GOOD again!

It was the greatest feeling, as many schools in our area have been receiving the lower two gradings recently, but we got GOOD!

We even had special chocolates!!

So yesterday, the head teacher arranged an evening out of music and food to celebrate all the hard work of the whole team, to get us to this level!

And, maybe I am biased, but honestly, I really do think we are the BEST!

#SoCS Sept 10/16 -View

Saturday SoCS prompt

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “view.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

How do you view yourself?

Do others view you in the same way?

Or do you have an over/under-inflated image of yourself?

I think I’m an ok person. Happy, friendly, positive, approachable.

Others may view me as annoying.

At times I can be funny, the life of the party, but on other occasions, I can be a wallflower.

But I know I can be a tad stubborn, I speak my mind, I often don’t think before I speak too!

How do you view me?
