Daily Prompt – JusJoJan the 10th, 2022 Chocolate

It’s been a while since I took part in Linda’s JusJoJan month-long prompts, but, since I vowed to be creative, here goes!

It’s January 10th, so this is the 10th prompt for Just Jot it January 2022, and it’s brought to us by Ritu. (That’s ME!) Thanks, Ritu! Please be sure to visit her blog to read her post and say hello. And follow her while you’re there, if you’re not already.

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 10th, 2022, is “chocolate.” Use the word “chocolate” any way you’d like. Have fun!

Chocolate fills me with joy.

It also definitely decides to linger on my hips for far too long, nowadays.

I try to be healthy, buy more dark stuff, but there are times when only decent milk chocolate will do.

I love Cadbury’s Dairy Milk or Galaxy bars… The way they melt in the mouth, yum!

But my favourite of all has to be Maltesers. Yes, I know they are not pure chocolate, but that little piece of heaven; honeycomb wrapped lovingly in chocolate; my absolute favourite!

Don’t put a box of them anywhere near me, because;

  1. I don’t share Maltesers well
  2. They will not last long at all!

What is your favourite chocolate?

Chai And A Chat #168 #ChaiAndAChat

What a first full week of the year, eh!

Did you get a drink?

  • If we were having chai I’d begin by telling you that I tried my hardest to enjoy my last day of the break on Monday, since it was a bank holiday. I did precisely nothing, other than read to be honest. I definitely needed it, as Sunday night, I barely slept. So at least on Monday night I was in bed early and I woke bright-eyed and bushy tailed, ready for the first day of term!
  • If we were having chai I’d tell you that the start of school went relatively smoothly. Well, actually the whole week did, to be honest. Deep down, I had this dread that something was going to happen, and we’d be flung into the disarray of remote learing, but thankfully that didn’t happen, so we had a pretty normal week, all things considered. It was, honestly, lovely to be back with the children, and my team. There was a renewed sense of positivity, which I hope, lasts for a long time!
  • If we were having chai I’d slip in a little something here, that a lot of you probably have already read about, but that publishing thing I’ve been hinting about these last few weeks? It’s all official, now! I have signed a contract with Spellbound Books. A three-book deal, which includes a rerelease of Marriage Unarranged, so the whole series will be under them. That’s right, it is a series! Officially called the Rishtay Series. Rishtay means relationships, and can encompass all types, from romantic to family to friends, and I explore a lot of different relationships through my writing. I officially signed on the Wednesday evening, and floated through Thursday and Friday!
  • If we were having chai I’d say that on Friday evening, I arrived home to these lovely flowers, balloons, and cards from Hubby Dearest, one of my lovely work colleuages, and my favourite author, ever, Amanda Prowse! I was so touched, and I just keep going back to them, and smelling the gorgeous blooms!
  • If we were having chai I’d mention that I have written a little bit, too, since I now have DEADLINES! Well, that’s a way to get things written, I suppose! But it has been fun. I have organised myself a bit, so fingers crossed I can do this!
  • If we were having chai I’d share that we are now a fully vaccinated household, with Lil Princess receiving her second vaccination on Saturday. Obviously, she is milking the side effects as much as possible, but, at least we are all done. If the powers that be say they need boosters, we will arrange, but at least for now, we are all as protected as we can be.
  • If we were having chai I’d tell you that I even managed to do some from scratch cooking, which I have done very little of, recently, relying on easy cook things that just need reheating… I know. Bad mummy! But I was rather proud of my chicken biriyani style dish. Lil Man was very happy with it, too, so it can’t have been all bad!
  • If we were having chai I’d whisper ‘Guess who’s back at cricket, from this week?’ And the answer would be ‘Not Me!’ Lol! So, Lil Man had an opportunity to join some winter indoor nets, and obviously he was going to jump at the chance, but it is slap bang in the middle of Sunday afternoon, so Hubby Dearest took, him instead leaving me time to do whatever I wanted! YAY!
  • If we were having chai I’d ask if any of you are on TikTok? I’m trying ot out, you know #BookTok and #authortok and all that… follow me if you are there. I am trying to make videos that entertain, a little, too! https://www.tiktok.com/@ritubhathalauthor Thank you in advance!
@ritubhathalauthor

Happy New Year, #booktok ! Starting 2022 with a bang! I’m now officially signed with Spellbound Books! #author #authorsoftiktok #authortok #fyp #signed #publishedauthor

Daily Prompt – JusJoJan the 9th, 2022 Unicorn

It’s been a while since I took part in Linda’s JusJoJan month-long prompts, but, since I vowed to be creative, here goes!

It’s January 9th, so this is the 9th prompt for Just Jot it January 2022, and it’s brought to us by Astrid. Thank you, Astrid! Please be sure to visit her blog to read her post and say hello. And follow her while you’re there if you’re not already.

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 9th, 2022, is “unicorn.” Use the word “unicorn” any way you’d like. Enjoy!

I think my daughter just missed the whole unicorn mass hysteria, that the little girls out there seem to be experiencing, right now.

Mind you, she’s always been her own person, and even if others were crazy about something, she would decide not to be a follower It was the same with Frozen – she never got into that. Even at 6! And One Direction. Whist others in her class were singing their songs and being all cutesy about who they loved best, she was not interested. Instead, she did a performance of Why Does Every Princess Need To Have a Prince, with some friends at the end of the year talent show.

A real independent woman with a bit of a feminist thrown in there!

Anyway, I digress…

Unicorns. I have a couple of girls in my class, right now, with those hats that have long extended sides, that end with mitten like gloves, and they are designed like unicorns.

Another one joined the unicorn fray, well, so I thought until I questioned her lovely, light-grey unicorn hat.

“It’s not a unicorn, Mrs Bhathal. It’s a narwhal!”

She reminded me of my fiercely independent girl sitting at home.

We ended up doing a little google search to look at pictures of real narwhals, that afternoon.

Why not be a narwhal in a see of unicorns, eh!

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 357 – Strong Women, Strong Tea

img_00411

“A woman is like a teabag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

Let me raise my cup of chai to you on that one, Spidey!

Firstly, can I say that as I read this quote, I was compelled to go and make myself a nice, hot, strong cardamom tea!

So, I’m back now with a steaming mug of tea, and a chocolate chip muffin to go with it, because, well, you need that sweet treat, too, don’t you?

I do believe I am about to really show the world just how strong a teabag of a woman I am, this year.

What with my ever-busy school career, being mum and wife, as well as dutiful daughter/daughter-in-law, I have now added signed author into the mix, which means I can’t just write when I fancy it, but I kinda really have to!

Snd I feel quite determined, to be honest.

I have a year to finish this first draft, but I want to get it done by the end of the summer holidays, so I have time to read it, get opinions, go through what I want to change, etc. before the whole submitting to the publisher.

It’s not as simple as picking up a pen or opening your document on your laptop, and writing, though.

You have to be in the right frame of mind, as well as free of other responsibilities, too, in order to fully embrace your writing time. Oh, and your writing mo-jo needs to be around, too!

It’s always been a bit of a sticking point for me. Because the children were a little younger, the last time I rushed to finish a manuscript, and the rest of the family weren’t that invested in what I was doing, I was stealing time, where I could.

But I did it.

This time, however, I have the support of all of the people around me. The kids are teens, which is great because they don’t (strictly) need me running around after them, picking things up, cleaning, feeding, etc., unless it’s the summer months and cricket has started… and Hubby Dearest is so much more aware of just how important my writing is to me. If you saw my Friday post, you’ll see the beautiful flowers and balloons he gave me as a Congratulations gift for having signed the contract!

Last night, I was up at 3.30am, after having slept a few hours, and ended up reading, to lull me back to the Land of Nod. Hubby Dearest asked me why I was reading, and not writing that book if I was up!

This was a first.

For a change he is actively encouraging me to go and hole myself up in my writing cave for whatever time I need, whenever I want, to continue to make my dreams come true. In the past, it was more of an annoyance, and if my laptop and constant tapping away at it was disturbing him, or at an unsavoury time, it would cause grief.

And you know what? I’m going to do this. I really am.

This month, I am blogging daily as part of Linda Hill’s #JusJoJan challenge, so I am carving out a little time every day to write the posts. This means I will be in a daily habit of writing, again. I will try and write on my Manuscript, twice a week, to start with, and once this challenge is done, that time I freed up, to write the posts daily, can be used to write WIP words!

Work will always be there.

School is a huge part of my life, but I have also come to realise, that though a job is important, it is not your life. If we go, we are replaceable in our place of work, whereas only we can be the ones to fulfil our dreams, and to be there for our families. So, I won’t bring the stresses of school life home, unless something dire happens, or it’s Ofsted!

Instead, my after-school hours are time for my family, for me, and for my authorly future!

(By the way, the tea is almost finished, but rather cool, now. I think I should make another cup!)

So, how do you organise your work/life balance, or your real life/dream life aspirations?

namaste

Wishing you a wonderfully peaceful Sunday, Peeps!

#SoCS Jan. 08 2022 – In The…

Linda’s prompt for SoCS this week:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “In the.” Start your post with the words “In the” – that’s the prompt! Enjoy!

In the morning, I rise, usually, totally knackered.

Honestly. I am of an age where late nights do not suit, but I am unable to sleep in very much, either.

Yet I live in a household where the rest of them can stay up until goodness knows when, and then sleep until the afternoon!

However, it also means a broken night of sleep for me. Because, someone is watching TV a tad too loudly, someone is rustling things in the kitchen, someone comes to bed and knocks things over…

You know the score.

So, although I do count myself as a morning person, I am definitely not your most rested person, especially in term time, when my morning starts at 6am!

Another truly rambling SoCS post, there, for you! (Linda, that was a toughie!)
