Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 268 – Laughter

“I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it’s the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It’s probably the most important thing in a person.”

― Audrey Hepburn

Thank you, Spidey. I’m definitely an advocate for smiles!

You know, I’m aware that laughter, smiles and giggles aren’t going to cure this pandemic, but I tell you what, during this time of self-isolation, social distancing and quarantine, a good old belly laugh sure helps get through.

I’ve been trying to read books that are light-hearted. If they are an arc I requested, that are a bit heavy, I’ve found them hard to get into. But a good old Rom Com or a bit of humour has been very well received.

I’ve definitely been clicking on and reading more posts via the blog and other social media platforms that are more likely to make me smile.

I’ve watched films that are high in comedic factor, or old, nostalgic films have been getting a revisit. Things I know will leave me with a smile on my face.

And… I discovered TikTok.

A very dangerous app in my hands!

I’ve been aware of it for a long while, impossible to avoid, when you have teens, especially in the shape of Lil Princess, who is always doing funny little snippets of dances. It took a while, but I realised she and her friends all learn the moves to these snippets of songs, and the choreography originates from these mini clips.

Now TikTok isn’t just all dance. People use the medium and it’s various effects to create little video clips that can be really funny.

So… after a long time, I decided I would download it to see what the fuss was about. I haven’t created a public profile, as I don’t think I could cope with ANOTHER platform to manage, but we’ve been recording really silly videos.

Of course, you know, I don’t post my children at all, but I did manage to make some silly skit style videos, that feature just me… and posted them on my Instagram.

So… did you want a giggle?

Oh, okay then (yes, I know you didn’t need to twist too hard!), here’s one…

Funny enough? Okay, another…

So… tell me, what have you found, to make you laugh or smile during the pandemic?

Have a peaceful Sunday, Peeps.  And enjoy your week! ❤

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 69

“Always laugh when you can, it’s cheap medicine.” – Lord Byron

Thanks, Spidey, for finding this one today!

It reflects how I feel totally!

No matter what the illness or problem, a smile or a little laugh (preferably a great big one, though!) does wonders for the heart and soul.

I laughed and smiled lots yesterday, and it got me through the day. I got home, and my second wind was truly gone too, so it was early night, and sleep catch up time, but those laughs and smiles, well, they really got me through!

So remember, try and smile, or laugh, honestly, it does make most things better 🙂

Have a smiley Sunday Peeps!!!

The cure for all ailments…

True words...

True words…

The jolliest people I know look so much younger that their years.  Do you find that?

Those who are able to have a laugh, have a giggle, a good old belly laugh, a guffaw, a titter, you know, all those words, that indicate laughter, and happiness.

In India, they have Laughing Clubs.  Its like the morning walk brigade, but they sit, or stand, in circles just laughing! Great fun! Groups of people, mostly older in age, laughing away, big belly laughs, flailing arms, opening their arms, and so opening their chests, big gulps of air taken in. It’s all oxygen, great for the body and mind!

I want a go… I think I might start my own.  This world doesn’t have enough laughter in it, I think.

We are all so caught up in living life, rushing from one event to another, work to home, cook, clean, look after kids, or going out. In fact we probably don’t even sleep as much as we need, because our time is so precious, we eke out as much as we can… to our detriment though.  We end up starting a day tired, and ratty, irritable, and when you are irritable, when do you fancy a laugh? When you are in that state, sometimes the funniest things do your head in, and you would rather shut the person up, than join in with the giggles.

But this is just it. if you were to laugh, it would probably relieve your tensions more.  My Pops teaches yoga, and the type he teaches has been promoted by Swami Ramdev in India, and to be honest it has been around for aeons… but he has brought it to the forefront of peoples eyes. He was a childhood polio sufferer and by doing various breathing exercises, he really improved his own health. At the end of all his classes, and subsequently at the end of my Pop’s classes, they encourage the whole class to belly laugh for a good few minutes.

I love a laugh.  I cant hold it in to be honest, whether its a child inadvertently saying something inappropriate, or just a genuinely funny joke, I have to laugh!  Maybe that’s why a lot of people think that I don’t look my years.. but on the flip side, I am so tired most of the time, I do get irritated, and find that where I should have laughed, my sense of humour seems to have gone on holiday…oops! I am going to make a conscious effort to laugh more, every day. there is always s something in your everyday life where you can laugh…

So I’m going to challenge you…

Laugh. 😀

Every day. 😀

Find something that makes you openly guffaw. 😀

See whether it makes you feel better. 🙂

I’m going to try it too.. tell me what made you laugh today, and together lets knock a few hundred years off our faces!!!

Happy Monday’s

Smile!

Go on, giggle!
I do dare you!
We don’t laugh enough
Nowadays, it’s true.

The stresses and strains
Of modern life,
Tensions between
Hubby and wife.

Kids drive us crazy,
Work as well,
Is it really so bad,
This place where we dwell?

Step back,
Take a glance,
And you’ll see
There’s a chance,

That some things
Are funny.
It’s not all
About money.

So go on, take a breath,
Now a big belly laugh!
Not a little polite one,
Don’t do things by half!

If onlookers think
You’re looking quite mad
Remind yourself
Their lives must be sad.

Encourage a titter
A guffaw, a chuckle
Laugh so hard
That you need to buckle!

So go on, giggle,
I really dare you,
For laughter is medicine,
That really is true.
