Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 142

“By conquering your mind, you can conquer the world.” Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Today Spidey found a quote from the first Guru, teacher, of my religion, Sikhism because yesterday was Guru Nanak Gurpurab, or the day we celebrate what would have been his birthday.

I take a lot of strength from many of his words, as he shows such simple wisdom within them.

The quote above is something I find very true. If you ‘conquer’ your mind, show self belief, only then can you go further in your journey, and ultimately, ‘conquer; the world.

Equally, if you can steer your mind to thoughts of purity, then you are able to see the world in a clearer way, and you can make the changes that are more visible, without the fog of opinions and self doubt.

I’m off to go clear my mind, go, clear yours!

“If the world seems cold to you, kindle fires to warm it.” Lucy Larcom

I love this quote, thanks, Spidey!

It is all too easy to point out the things that are wrong with the world, our surroundings, our life, but sometimes, if we step back and think about it there is always something that we could do, big or small, that could make a difference to how we go on to view that same world/surrounding/life.

From learning to say yes/no, to a random act of kindness, a few coins in a charity pot, or knocking on your elderly neighbour’s door to offer your help, it all helps to create a better world, and a better you too!

If your world seems cold and quiet, try and arrange a get together of your friends. Surrounding yourself with people you love and soon, your world will warm up.

When things at work are getting you down, think what it is that is working you up. Is it the work, the volume, the expectations, the pressure? If there is a way you can speak to someone to help lessen the pressure, do it, or try and prioritize your work. Create a schedule so you can keep up with things. Ultimately, if you are unhappy, is it the job itself that isn’t right for you? What can you do to make it better? Are you in a position where you can change careers?

Whatever seems cold, there is a way you can try and warm it up… just look at it from a different perspective and go, kindle those fires!!!!

Book Review – How I Changed My Life In A Year by Shelley Wilson

How I Changed My Life In a Year: One Woman's Mission To Lose Weight, Get Fit, Beat Her Demons, And Find Happiness ...In Twelve Easy Steps!

Ever wanted to change something and thought it was just too much hard work?
Ever wanted to make a difference, but found the task too daunting?
Well, then you need to dip into this great book!
I’m not one for ‘self-help’ books per se, but was intrigued to read this personal account of how author Shelley Wilson turned her life around within a year.
A year.
It may sound like a long time to actually make the changes, but in the grand scheme of things, a year isn’t that long really, and considering she made not one, but twelve changes in that time, kudos to her!
Broken down into manageable weekly chunks, Shelley Wilson made her plan, and stuck to it, with great results!
I enjoyed it so much I read it in one day! And it has given me the motivation to make changes, starting small, and aiming big!

My Amazon review for Shelley’s motivational book.

Did I mention she is a YA Fantasy author too.  I reviewed her series here, if it’s of interest to you.
