Knock #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week:

“You do it!” Pete whispered.
“No, you do it!” Tom replied.
“Oh for goodness sake, I’ll do it!” Jake pushed himself forward. These other two were a total bunch of chickens!
The three of them had been messing around in the woods behind the park, and they had ventured a little further afield than before, and managed to get a little lost.
As they wound their way around, trying to retrace their steps, the boys managed to go deeper rather than get closer to the park again.
The darkness was starting to fall. It was already late when they decided to go into the woods, and now, as the trees started to take on a sinister look, they realised they were in trouble.
Tom took out his phone to call home, but the signal was nil. The same with Pete’s and Jake’s phone. At least they could use the phones as torches.
As they slowly ventured through the eerie trees, they spotted a small wooden building It was like a little grey-stoned house, with an old wooden door, and there was light coming from a window. A plume of smoke drifted out of a chimney pot.
They stumbled over roots to get to this door. Surely there was someone there to help them.
The closer they got, the more apparent it was that this was no ordinary house. The pathway up to the door seemed to be lined with bones, but with the reducing light they couldn’t be sure…
Tom and Pete began to panic, and wanted to step back. This was where Jake stepped up.
He raised his hand and hesitated before taking the rather creepy looking knocker in his hand and banging it cautiously.
It seemed an age before heavy footsteps were heard, and the door slowly creaked open…

Thursday photo prompt: Derelict #writephoto

Sue’s #WritePhoto prompt this week.

“Full of potential, so it says. Rustic.  Close to nature.  Compact.  Minimalistic in a traditional way. That’s what the message says.”
John read back the details that the estate agent had sent him. Then looked up at the property.
Now he knew why the guy hadn’t sent a photo. He should have waited a few more days, but Lucy was obsessed with them getting this ‘country weekend home’ sooner rather than later and she was convinced that any properties worth having were snapped up straight away
“Potentially full of damp. Rusty. Nature’s taken over. Shoebox. No plumbing or amenities. That’s what it should have read! Seriously Lucy, let’s just get back in the car and head back. It’s not even wor-“ He stopped.
Oh dear God, he knew that look. Lucy was staring at the ramshackle cottage with a look of pure love.
“Oh Johnny, it’s perfect! Think of what we could do to this place!” She turned to give him the puppy dog eyes… and he had never been able to resist that look…
He felt his wallet lighten with every step towards the building…

Inside-out #writephoto

Sue’s #writephoto prompt this week. We’ve been spoiled with two photos today!

Ginny looked at the window sill.
Drat! Another leak!
It was strange.
There hadn’t been any rain the last few days, in fact it had been surprisingly pleasant for a February.
She went off to go and tend to the guests they had staying at the Manor House this week.
A rather rowdy, but well off group of gentlemen, footballers, she thought they said they were. Well, you would have to be well off to rent out a Manor House like this for a whole week!
It was a ‘stag do’ they said, celebrating the last few nights of bachelorhood of one of their number.
Youngsters nowadays, Ginny thought. Back in her day, the men popped to the local for a quick pint to ward off the nerves of the Groom-to-be. Now they celebrated with days of drinking and eating and rather raucous music and behaviour!
They had taken to congregating in the large attics that had been converted. Apparently the acoustics were much better there, for their loud music.
Really, had this been twenty years ago, Sir Rotherham would never have allowed this type of jaunt on his property, but since his death, young Master Rotherham (she still couldn’t call him Sir… ) had taken to finding any way to make money from their estate. No scruples, that young man.
In fact, while this bunch of famous louts were wrecking the place she had looked after for the last fifty years, Master Rotherham was firmly ensconced within their group, enjoying being surrounded by all this ‘money’. He kept talking about selfies with various names she had never heard of, and being ‘liked’ on Insta-chat, or Snap-gram, whatever it was called!
Talking of Master Rotherham, she could hear his voice. He sounded rather high of spirits… probably due to the amount of spirits he had consumed. Never was good with alcohol, that boy…
Ginny went to look out of the window, where she felt the voice was coming from.
Gasping, she took a step back!
Well, that was a part of Master Rotherham’s anatomy that she hadn’t seen since he was a whippersnapper! And now she knew what that ‘leak’ was all about.
Really! Sir Rotherham would be rolling in his grave if he could see this!

I hope you enjoyed my silly tale!

Thursday photo prompt – Green #writephoto

Sue’s #writephoto prompt this week.

“Is this what we’ve been searching for?” Charlie stopped suddenly at the edge of the water.

Pete reached his side shortly after, out of breath, almost doubled over with the effort of this up to now pointless hike. “Well I don’t know Chaz, feels like we’ve been on a wild goose chase so far. Bloody cryptic clues! Was always bad at these things at school as well. Why couldn’t they just write simple bloody directions? Give us a post code, you know, the satnav would have done the rest!”

“Shut your cake hole for a minute and look at this!”

Pete looked up and saw gently running water and a stone building of sorts, with two dark, dingy entrances.

“Look into my eyes, all set in stone
Upon which the green moss has grown
Step over the tears that appear to flow
And enter the cavern in which no one will go
Choose left or right, wrong or right
It’s up to you, success or plight…”

“Whaddya reckon, eh?” Charlie continued, “Four months we’ve been solving those damn riddles, getting closer and closer, and now I think we’ve gone and found the last place, you’re flaking out on me! Tell you what, if you can’t be arsed then get lost! I’ll go find the stash myself!”

“No, no, Chaz, now don’t be hasty! I wasn’t being negative at all… no, let’s go do this. Which one then eh, left or right?” Pete wasn’t relinquishing any claim to this treasure anytime soon!

They sploshed across the water and entered the cavern on the left. As their torch light faded into the darkness, the water flowed faster, as if the tears were rolling freshly, mourning another lost treasure hunter or two….

Obelisk #writephoto

Sue’s #writephoto prompt this week…

Sitting here
I reminisce
Think of all
Those things I miss
All those moments that
We shared
All those feelings
When we cared
What went wrong
I’ll never know
Yet watching the tide
Come and go
I’ll think
Of you
And our love
So true
That monument
Marks where we’d meet
The secrecy
Turned up the heat
But then you said
we had to stop
Our idyllic bubble
You made to pop…
You left me there
And walked away
But memories
Are here to stay
