Anomaly #writephoto

Sue’s photo prompt this week…

anomaly

And my take…

“Now dat,” Dermot said, indicating to the streak of rainbow, suspended in front of them “Dat is de work of a master.”

“A master what?” Paddy asked “A master of stupidity?”

The Local Leprachaun Society had been meeting here at this pub for many years, whenever one of them had created a new rainbow. Every nuance of the phenomenon was discussed, minute details picked apart.

Dermot sighed. “He’ll be here soon enough.”

Sure enough, the door swung open and Seamus sauntered in. He sat down and was promptly thwacked around the head by Paddy.

“What was dat fer?” he scowled, rubbing the back of his balding pate.

“Feast yer eyes on dat beauty, and you’ll see fer yerself!” Paddy pointed to the rainbow.

Seamus trained his eye on the colours, and realisation dawned on him.

“De curve, man! Where’s de curve?” Paddy was in full flow “Ye know de rainbow needs an arc! It helps us hide de crock of gold from de hunters! Optical illusions, dat’s what we are about, and you go and create de world’s first feckin’ vertical one! Might as well place a flashin’ sign above it, saying “Nick Me!” ya eejat!”

And another thwack was felt on the back of his head…

Ritu’s Healthy Living – Week 9 #icandothis

I’m back, and still going!

healthy-living

It’s been a roller coaster week, with health, food and stuff…

Ill kids, me not feeling well, Hubby getting ill, work stresses, and comfort eating too.

I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to do anything this week. A gain was guaranteed…

There has been no exercise, but a lot of steps accumulating on my Fitbit!

But, here is the food, and a few other bits I have consumed this week…

I needed a comforting drink for the sore throat so this helped…

And the loss…

2016-10-07_07-20-46

I stayed the same! Well, at least it wasn’t a gain eh!

So, still at 13.5lb off so far, but I am happy with that!

Happy Saturday Peeps, an d happy healthy eating too!

(I’m off to the cinema now, and for a meal out.. Review of Brigit Jones Baby to follow!!!)

That Time Of Year Again

It’s October…

The temperatures are still rather erratic here, we get seasonal showers, that feel monsoon-like with the warmth, then the temperature drops all of a sudden, and you feel the arctic breeze, followed by blazing sunshine.

One of the biggest problems is that you really don’t know what to wear. I end up with half my wardrobe in my car, lightweight cardigans and chunky knits, and rain coats, with a thick coat and woolly hat, just in case!

But that still won’t help.

The other big issue is health.

These colds and viruses are going to attack, no matter what.

It always starts with the kids. That Lil Princess is a cold magnet! And when she is unwell, the world knows about it!

So the weekend started with her getting soaked at football training, and a small sniffle becoming a larger one. The cough followed shortly after, then the temperature.

Sunday, she was determined to be well… the dog was still around and she didn’t want to miss out.

Sunday night the coughing started in the night from both junior bedrooms, and Lil Man awoke on Monday with the same cough, and temperature.

But both wanted to go to school. So we dosed them up on Calpol and sent them on their ways.

I popped into the pharmacy on the way home, to stock up on cough and cold remedies, and was sure my mother in law would have tried her Indian remedies on the kids too. and I hoped to get my flu vaccination. It is another important thing for me to get, as I work with little germ machines in nursery!

But the registered pharmacist was not in so the vaccination had to wait…

All stocked up!

I got to my in-laws house to find two children wrapped up in blankets on the sofas, with various poultices around them to get them better, and a teary Lil Princess, and a red-nosed Lil Man.

After drugging the children up, I hoped for a slightly better night’s sleep, but it wasn’t to be. Lil Man woke at 3am with a headache and a temperature so high I could fry an egg on him!

So the meds came out again, and once I settled him in my bed, I went off to book appointments for his parents evening. What else would you do at 3.20am? I was wide awake so thought it would be good to be productive!

Lil Princess stayed home today, even though she’d had a good sleep, and I told my son to do the same, but he hopped out of bed and said he wanted to go to school. Really? Your mum just offered you a sick day at home, and you refused? Strange boy!

I was surprised that I still felt ok. But as the day wore on, I started to feel the sniffles…

After school, and a rather long staff meeting, I got my vaccination done (hence the sore arm). Lil Princess was still coughing but generally better. Lil Man was still not well, with his cough, cold and temperature. I hope he listens to me this time in the morning when I say it’s a good idea to stay at home!

But I am sat here with the sore arm, as mentioned above, and a sore throat… Nooooooo!!!!!!

At least I am prepared with plenty of medicines!

TJ’s Household Haiku – Ghost

TJ’s prompt, on his travels to Oxford…

Ghost

Do you believe in ghosts? I am not sure, but I do think there is ‘something’ out there, some form of energy that may show past lives… Orbs have always fascinated me. I love to search photos, to see whether there are any in mine!

I often find ones around Lil Man, in photos, but not a scary thought, more a soothing presence around him…

And on to my haiku.

WRITESPIRATION #95 KALEIDOSCOPES

Sacha’s back, after a little #Writespiration hiatus, with another cool prompt!

kaleidoscope

Write about a Kaleidoscope – maybe its a kaleidoscopic fantasy world, or a memory, a maze or perhaps a toy. Let your mind wander and see where it takes you. Entries short this week – under 100 words, deadline 9th October. Post entries in the comments or use a pingback.

So, here is my entry!

“Quick Cap’n! They be gaining on us!”

Captain John Bird hurriedly fished his spyglass out of his pocket to see what this vessel was that chasing them.

“It looks like they’re preparing the cannon, and, that be a pirate flag on their mast!”

Focussing the glass, Captain Bird looked out, but all he could see was a rainbow of colours, no ship.

“Damn this thing!” he thought, pulling his handkerchief out to clean the lens.

It was only then that he realised, in the hurry to board his ship, he’d picked up his son’s kaleidoscope instead of his spyglass…

Thank you and Good night!
