Too cute!

This particular meme came up on my Facebook today, and it couldn’t have been more appropriate!

We had parents evening, you know that time we probably all dreaded as children, not knowing what those teachers would tell our parents. And now we are the parent, dreading what the teacher will say about our child!

Well, I have to say, I couldn’t be more proud today. Lil Man is coming on in leaps and bounds, and this year, yet again, another teacher tells me how his smiling face is a joy to have around, and how he is really doing well, no worries!

Lil Princess got just as great feedback! She is creative, has a wonderful imagination, but tends to daydream… Both need more times tables practice, but I hold my hands up, I was rubbish at them too, in fact I can’t remember them even now!!!

But the best little snippet? Lil Princess’s teacher telling me she is always talking about her brother! And not telling tales, or negative stuff. Her teacher said she is so proud of her big brother, and comes up to her everyday with something or another to tell her, staring with “My brother…”

I was amazed! The amount they fight and argue at home, you would never guess there was that affection there, but …… How sweet!!!

FFF #20 You Ruin Me

Tuesday brings the flash fiction event hosted by Matt the Book Blogger. I love this challenge, I’ve taken part in them since Matt stared this challenge! Flash Fiction Foray, or FFF as we lovingly like to call it is a challenge where Matt gives a song as a prompt,,and we need to write a 100 word flash fiction piece based on that song, be it the name, the content, the emotion stirred up by the music…

This week, Matt has chosen ‘You Ruin Me’ by The Veronicas…

It’s funny, but I know I’m getting older now, as I hardly recognise newer songs by the name or artist… Yet I listen to it and think “Oh! That song!” And that was exactly what happened here with this one!

Check out the original prompt here.

What did you do? How did you do it? At what point did your tentacles, masquerading as love, wrap around me so tightly that I couldn’t wriggle free?

You give me everything, I know. I don’t want for anything at all… apart from your affection.

But now I’ve grown accustomed to this life… All these things…

I want to walk away, I really do. I want to feel the freedom that the others have, but I just can’t take that first step…

You ruin me, and all my good intentions, with every new wrapped gift box you bring each night…

Thank you and goodnight!

Chop Chop!

I went for a haircut the other week… my longer curls have made way for much less hair!

Here is the blowdried, ‘like you just stepped out of a salon’ look… because I had just stepped out of one!

wpid-2015-10-30-21.48.19.jpg.jpegAnd another shot!

wpid-2015-10-30-21.47.04.jpg.jpegHubby hates it when I get my hair cut… he loves long hair. I do too, but I find after a couple of years, I just need a change, so I get a large amount chopped off.  He also is not a fan of the straight haired Ritu either! But I have to get the whole salon effect.. after all I can’t be bothered to spend time doing it myself, straightening my hair every day.. no no! I have far too much other stuff going on!

wpid-2015-11-09-21.27.34.jpg.jpegAnd here is the washed and dried normal way, Curly Ritu is back!

wpid-2015-11-09-21.27.45.jpg.jpegI have to admit, much as I like my straight look, I much prefer the curls… what about you?

Ronovan’s Weekly Haiku Challenge #70 – Crane & Gold

wpid-haiku-challenge-image.pngOh yes, you know it’s Monday when the haiku start flowing! Ronovan’s weekly challenge had hit, and boy is it another doozie this week! Ronovan, with these words, you are really testing us!! Check out the challenge here.

The prompt words this week are Crane & Gold. The lovely Ron encouraged use of the thesaurus to really get into these words this time, and I have to admit I was flummoxed to start with, but I came up with two….

Firework Art

Seeing as it was Bonfire, or Guy Fawkes Night on the 5th November, I attempted some firework art with my dear nursery lovelies!

wpid-20151106_114853.jpg

We used cardboard tubes, scissors, a spikey plastic ball, fluorescent paint, glitter and black paper!

First the children feather cut the ends of their cardboard tubes, and flattened them out to make a flower-like effect. Voila! They made their own stampers!

These stampers were pressed into some paint.

These were then used as stampers and they printed imaginary fireworks on a black ‘sky! To create another way to make marks, they rolled the plastic balls in the paint then either dropped them on the paper, or rolled them around on it to make other firework like marks!

This one was mine, that was created in front of the children as an example.

A little glitter at the end while the paint was still wet ensured a sparkly firework display picture!

If only I could show you photos of them actually doing it, I would, but alas I am not allowed! But they made wonderful paintings!
