No Mummy, They’re My Flowers!

On Sunday, Hubby Dearest took Lil Man for a haircut, and came back with these…

Not sure what I did to deserve them, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t covering up anything, just being discreetly romantic!

But no sooner were they in a vase, the feline flower fiend was onto them!

He does love a pretty bunch of flowers, does my WSonu Singh!

Been chewing away at the netting, and petals too! Thinks it’s his God given right!

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 13th/17 – Hospital

Day 13 pf Linda’s #JusJoJan challenge!

The Just Jot It January 13th prompt, brought to you by Charlene Bullard of FaithtoRaiseNate.com, is: “Hospital.” Use it any way you’re inspired to. And make sure you stop by and say hi to Charlene as well! Here’s her blog: http://faithtoraisenate.com/ .

The word hospital seems pretty apt to me right now.

I can’t even remember if I mentioned our relationship with the local hospital, or medical care around here recently.

Well, in case I didn’t say anything, it feels like our family, or Lil Man and Hubby Dearest in particular, have been very cosy with the hospital of late.

Before Christmas, on the 1st December, to be exact, Lil Man sustained a head injury. He was hit rather hard by a football in the face, and it, in turn, caused mild concussion.

Mild, they say.

Well, it knocked him for six, and he was off school for over a week because of the headaches and pain.

The local hospital was visited, then the larger Accident and Emergency department was visited when the pains didn’t decrease. This was followed by a visit to a very unhelpful locum GP in our family doctor’s surgery.

It was a worrying time for us, as Lil Man may be little, but he is a robust child and loves to go to school. He is conscientious and would get up every day, change into his uniform, and attempt to go to school but the pain would be too much.

Thankfully he is better now, and the headaches have gone!

But the end of 2016 didn’t see the end of hospital visits.

Last week, on Thursday morning, I heard a blood-curdling scream from Lil Man’s room.

I came in to find him in tears, and the door from his wardrobe on the floor.

Apparently, he had opened his sliding door, which had come off the runners and landed on his foot!

The poor love couldn’t walk on it!

Again, he tried to go to school, but couldn’t walk more than a few steps.

So, that was another day at home, and a visit to the local hospital again, to check for broken bones!

He hates the hospital!

Luckily it was just deep tissue bruising, and seemed to clear up relatively quickly.

Then, on Monday morning, he woke up with back, rib, shoulder and neck ache… Oh dear God, what was going on with this boy?!

Again, he got up, wincing in pain, dosed up on Junior paracetamol, and went off to school, only for me to get a call ten minutes later from my mother in law to say he was back home. Again, he tried to get to school but couldn’t move properly!

I was fearing another trip to the hospital, but today he got up, still in a little pain, and went to school. He seems better tonight. I really don’t know whether he strained a muscle, spelt funny, caught a cold, or if it is viral pain, but what I do know is that Lil Man has had his fair share of issues now, and we would very much like a clear run of time now, with no illnesses, injuries and visits to any more hospitals!

Another Week In Nursery!

It’s been a while since I posted about my dear class.

Honestly, they are a wonderful bunch!

Trouble-free? I didn’t say that, but if that were the case, it would be boring!

Take today, for instance. We usually put a little activity out for the kids to ‘fiddle’ with, when they arrive. This morning I had stickle bricks out (remember them?) and when the children have created things, we always ask them to tell us what they made. Usually, they are just towers of blocks, and the child will tell you it’s a car/house/rocket/mummy. But their imagination and creativity is growing, and we are getting recognisable objects… sometimes…

Check out this wonderful piece…

It’s a Dog-Rocket, of course! What did you think it was?

And in other news, we have had a winter fuelled week, making ‘icicles’ and ‘snowmen’, and talking about the weather.

It’s a crying shame that these children are not old enough to have actually seen snow here in the UK, being only 3-4 years old. So I did a bit of research on good old Pinterest, and found out how to make realistic play snow, that was even cold to the touch, and mouldable too!

Bicarb of soda (Baking soda for you Americans!) and white hair conditioner. It worked a treat, but you needed a lot of Bicarb. So I found a second recipe using corn flour and shaving foam too.

The bicarb one really was cold, but there wasn’t a huge amount.

Still, the kids loved it! Though the cleaner probably cursed me, as there was powdery white stuff everywhere!!!!

And this inspired me to create a new display too!

Those are our ‘icicles’ hanging from the top, and I even wrote a poem!

Frost and icicles and snow!
Winter weather’s here you know!

A great big snowman we will build
Until our hands feel cold and chilled

Then we’ll come and warm our hands
We love winter with our friends!

Whether they appreciate it or not, I think it looks pretty! And the children always love to look for photos of themselves!

I was especially impressed with my Olaf! Who doesn’t love him? The best thing was when I originally put Olaf on the wall. There was nothing else to look at, but him. It intrigued the children, who were eager to see what all this was about. But the best scene was when I came inside from the playground to find four little girls like this…

They were ‘watching’Olaf like a film!!!!

Oh to be a child again, eh!

More from Nursery-Land another time!

Lil Princess Writes…

A little poem by my daughter Lil Princess. 8 and competing with me already! Bless her!

She wanted me to put it on the blog and be sure to let you all know she wrote it. Not I !

I like ice cream such a lot
I like it most when days are hot
In a cone or in a dish
This would be my only wish
Vanilla, Chocolate, Rocky Road
Pile it up until there’s a load

It’s That Christmas Cookie Time of Year!

Around this time last year I baked my annual cookies… and it is no different this year!

(Recipe here if you are interested!)

I like to make them for the family, ande take some into school too as my Christmas gift to my colleagues! They tend to go down pretty well!

This year I also attempted to dip some in both Milk and White chocolate!

They didn’t come out too bad, did they? 🙂
