Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 136

img_00411

“I’ve learned… that’s its not what I have in my life, but who I have in my life that counts.” – Anon

Spidey found another wonderful quote this week.

And it is seriously the truest statement!

My family are there for me no matter what, and I know that. My friends are the additional family I have chosen and no matter what else is happening, the fact that I have them, and that they have me, is the biggest thing.

And you, my blogily, are part of that additional family that I consider to be so important too. ❤

Appreciate the important folk in your lives. Cars will break down, jewellery will tarnish. Expensive perfumes will go off, but the folk you have around you will be there forever… if you treat them right.

Have a great Sunday Peeps!

Frantic Friday! – #Exhaustipated

The weekend couldn’t come soon enough!

And I have another big week ahead of me so I can’t relax just yet!

You all know I have rather a lot of duties in school this week, with two classes, and subject responsibilities, and the Governor role too…

And I am coping, honestly!

Yes, I am tired, but I combat this by falling asleep earlier.

  • If I don’t read my book then fair enough.
  • If I miss my fave show on Telly, no worries, it’s recordable.
  • If I don’t make the lunches, they can be done in the morning.
  • If I can’t be as hot on my blog and reader, I just have to cope with it.

Can I give you an example of one of my days this week?

Obviously, I wake up at 6am and have to make sure the kitchen is tidy, lunches packed, school bags ready by the door, feed the cat and birds, shower, have breakfast, read my emails and browse my reader, answer notifications and check my other Social Media, holler for Hubby Dearest and the kids to get up, then when all are ready, we finally leave!

  • 7.50am Get to school.
  • 8.00am Settle down in nursery for the morning.
  • 8.45am Let my nursery children in and spend time interacting and observing them. Meet a new parent and child, showing them around the environment.
  • 9.40am Get called to attend my Reception class to be part of the ‘My First Class’ photo that our local paper takes, and submits into a big supplement of all the reception classes in the area.
  • 10.00am Other teacher leaves to do a home visit with one assistant, leaving me with the other assistant, to field drink times and outside play.
  • 11.10am they arrive back in time to take kids back in for fruit and story.
  • 11.25am Off to a Reception parents meeting, which should last 30 mins.
  • 12.25pm Meeting overran by half an hour so yamming lunch down my throat as have a meeting with a fellow new Governor, to book in some training.
  • 12.45pm Realise I was meant to be in the classroom letting the afternoon nursery children in! Thank goodness Wednesday is the day my team teacher and I are together!
  • 12.50pm Spend time with children, observing and interacting.
  • 1.20pm Off to set up for some planning time.
  • 1.30pm Scheduled Progress meeting for children with possible SEN issues in Reception class.
  • 2.35pm – It overran again. Try to do some paperwork before…
  • 3.10pm back to Nursery to help supervise the end of the session as the afternoon kids can’t sit or stay quiet or understand instructions!
  • 3.45pm once all kids are picked up, head back to planning area to meet with Reception team to discuss the plans for next week.
  • 4.15pm Back to Nursery to discuss next weeks plans with my team teacher.
  • 5pm Finally leave work.

Then it didn’t end there – got home and had to make sure homework was done, dinner was eaten, birds and cat fed and cage cleaned. Quality time with the pets too. Also assisting Hubby with packing for his Boy’s weekend away. Ironing. Made lunches. Blogged… Collapsed to sleep just after 10pm!

So, do you get why the weekend is so welcome? And this was a week where the Reception class were only in for half days!

Next week, we start the Reception children on full days, which involves staying with them for lunch too for the first week, which means Monday and Tuesday will be full on! Wednesday I am with them too, to cover my Partner Reception teacher, then I have planning time in the afternoon. Nursery on Thursday and Friday, with a Governor’s meeting on Thursday evening too, and the children are having their first individual school photos on Friday, which is always fun with the Nursery children!

Oh my days, I need a real holiday!!!!!!!!!!

Willy! – Kids Logic Part 38 #ThrowbackThursday

Another priceless gem from Lil Princess!

LP: I know William is a boys name!

Me: How’s that?

LP: Easy! It’s got Willy in it!!!

A little smile-inducing morsel for you! 😊

Living In A YouTube World – #MondayBlogs

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed a shift in the behaviours of their, or other children these last few years?

In my world, the children, despite being restricted, seem to be constantly watching or near one screen or another. Whether it’s the TV, phone, tablet or PC, there is always some reason for the need for these electronic devices.

I’m lucky though, with Lil Man. He will use his phone to message friends, listen to music, take the odd photo, and maybe play a game or two. Sometimes he likes to watch funny clips on YouTube. But he’s a naturally active child, so he’d rather get out there and be physical, on his bike in the garden, or playing cricket.

Lil Princess is creative in her own way, she has heaps of Arts and Crafts materials and enjoys constructing things, or reading, but she has developed a bit of an obsession for certain online games, like RoBloks and MSP. We limit that access to weekends, and monitor what she is playing.

Though what she likes the best, is watching YouTube videos. It could be watching the latest video from her favourite Vloggers, like Smelly Belly TV or the Dobre Brothers, or listening to music, watching videos with lyrics on them so she can learn the words.

But the ones I find the most annoying, and what seems to encroach on reality, are the tutorial videos and the reveal ones. From watching how to apply makeup, to how to make slime, to being enraptured by a person opening a box or packet of something or another, it is starting to creep into her usual life.

What do I mean?

Well, it’s the way she talks!

When she is going to do something, like make any thing arty, she doesn’t necessarily have a camera facing her (though she has tried that too!) but there is a constant dialogue, describing what she is doing, step by step. If she opens a toy, again the dialogue starts.

If she is choosing an outfit, there is a one sided conversation happening with her imaginary followers!

But it’s like she, and other children I have noticed, can’t do ANYTHING without talking through it. Even watching TV or a film! That is so annoying! She feels the need, to commentate about everything that is happening on screen, and makes us miss important dialogues because she is more interested in dissecting what just happened, or what might happen!

And (forgive me, my American Blogily) its almost always in an American accent! I am constantly correcting her pronunciation and vocabulary!

Honestly, I feel like I am living life in a YouTube channel!

Oh, and don’t get me started on the fact that she, along with most kids, sees a camera phone and automatically gets the pout on!

How about you, Peeps? Have you noticed this phenomenon sweeping the youth you encounter, or is it just my strange child?

Meet The New Additions To Our Family!

We went out today to get some issues with hardware sorted. One Kindle Fire had broken, and one iPad was not switching on. My darling Hubby Dearest has the gift of the gab and can usually get what he’s after!

We also needed to buy football boots for Lil Princess who is starting football training this week.

Never thought we’d come home with two additions that were alive, rather than two new electrical devices!

What could it be?!

Meet Heer (the blue girl) and Ranhja (the green boy), our two new parrotlets!  They are six months old and pretty much fully grown.

And what of our fur-baby Sonu Singh?

Sonu Singh thinks I’m his bed!

Well, he was intrigued! What were these funny little flying things that were chirruping away?

20170916_190858

What’s going on??

He came over to take a closer look too…

20170916_191310

Who ARE you!?

I tried to get the phone into the cage for a closer look… and he was there in the background too!

20170916_191626

I can see you…

They are pretty little things, a fledgling couple who could, if we decide to, us a nest box to mate and lay eggs!

How did we end up with them?

Well, we popped into a pet shop that just caught our eye as we wandered around the shopping centre, and the next thing you know, I saw these two, and they just melted my heart. They aren’t too big, the size of budgies, and they were cuddled up together in a perch.

I fell in love.

And Hubby Dearest took full advantage of my soft spot! If he had his way we;d have dogs, rabbits, a tortoise, chickens, a full menagerie!

So, after walking around the shops we ended up back there and left a bit financially lighter, but fuller in the family way!

Here they are, settling in to their new home!

Now to the names… Why Heer and Ranjha?

Well, like Sonu Singh got his Punjabi name, living in a Punjabi family, I needed an ethnic pairing for these two too!

Love stories always seem so tragic in our culture, and there is a story of Heer Ranjha. Heer a girl from a rich family, and Ranjha a son of a farmer, fall in love, and like Romeo and Juliet, they die trying to keep their love alive.

Heer Ranhja

Here’s hoping the tragic ending is not synonymous to the names!

But don’t worry, we won’t be forgetting Sonu Singh, he’ll still be on my bed every night commanding attention!

20170915_221551

Naughty cat, sticking his tongue out!

And FYI, we got the football boots, a refund for the Kindle… the iPad is a To Be Continued saga!

I’ll keep you posted on the continuing saga of our furry/feathered family Peeps!
