#SoCS Sept. 14/19 – Blue

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “blue.” Talk about the first blue object you see when you sit down to write your post. Have fun!

As I read the prompt and began to write, Celebrity Masterchef was on my telly, and the first thing I saw was a set of blue aprons on the screen. As I had been reading, I hadn’t paid any attention to what was happening on screen, but glancing up, I saw the royal blue coloured aprons and two ‘chefs’ carrying millefueilles to the table to be judged. They looked good!

Then the blue light on my USB hub for my new Macbook Air drew my attention to the backup that was occurring at the same time as I was typing.

It’s the end of my second week with my new class, and I am far from blue. The kids have settled down pretty well, all things considered, and despite some ups and downs with staffing, things have been okay!

Well, that’s a really odd #SoCS this week!

#WritePhoto – Blue

Sue’s #WritePhoto Prompt this week:

I thought I’d continue the adventures of Barbie and Ken.
“Ken, what’s up? you’re looking a bit blue?”
Sindy siddled up to Ken, who was stood, leaning against the barriers, looking out over the river.
“What? Oh nah, I’m fine. Just chillin’, you know.” He stepped back, trying to put a little distance between himself and the brunette bombshell who had caused enough strife between him and Barbie already.
“I saw you and Barbie looking a little stressed out the other day, in the bar? Everything okay?” She put her hand on his arm, and gave it a reasurring squeeze. Instead of lifting it straight away, she let it rest there.
Ken tensed under her touch. He looked around. Knowing his luck Barbie was watching him, and she’d misconstrue this meeting too.
It had taken him hours to convince her that there was nothing going on between him and Sindy. No amount of Prosecco helped.
He lifted Sindy’s hand off his arm. “Yeah, all good. Never better, yeah.”
“Well, if you ever wanna, you know, talk, you got my number…” Sindy looked at him, winked, and strode off.
Now, what was that all about? Ken shook his head. He’d never get women…
To be continued…

#JusJoJan Daily Prompt – Jan. 30th/17 – Blue

The penultimate day of Linda’s #JusJoJan challenge!

The Just Jot It January 30th prompt, brought to you by John Holton of The Sound of One Hand Typing, is: “Blue.” Use it any way you’re inspired to. And make sure you stop by and say hi to John as well! Here’s his blog:  https://thesoundofonehandtyping.wordpress.com/ .

I am quite proud of myself! I have nearly completed this 31-day challenge, posting every day without fail! What a great way to keep me on my toes, and allowing the creative juices to continue to flow!

But if I am honest, I fee a little blue.

I’m gonna miss this urgency to post daily!

I have my set challenges on a weekly basis, from Ron’s haiku on a Monday, and Sacha’s 52-word fiction challenge on a Wednesday, then Sue’s #writephoto on Thursday, not forgetting Linda’s SoCS Saturday. I post about my own health challenge on a Friday and Spidey has his say on a Sunday.

Actually… look at that.

Aside from Tuesday, I seem to have a need to post almost every day! Sometimes the challenge responses may get posted on a different day, due to life and commitments, but I have committed to quite a lot there really haven’t I?!

I still need to get back onto my weekly fiction serial, Just Friends, which hit a block in the summer too…

What was that about taking it easy, Ritu???

That Time Of Year Again

It’s October…

The temperatures are still rather erratic here, we get seasonal showers, that feel monsoon-like with the warmth, then the temperature drops all of a sudden, and you feel the arctic breeze, followed by blazing sunshine.

One of the biggest problems is that you really don’t know what to wear. I end up with half my wardrobe in my car, lightweight cardigans and chunky knits, and rain coats, with a thick coat and woolly hat, just in case!

But that still won’t help.

The other big issue is health.

These colds and viruses are going to attack, no matter what.

It always starts with the kids. That Lil Princess is a cold magnet! And when she is unwell, the world knows about it!

So the weekend started with her getting soaked at football training, and a small sniffle becoming a larger one. The cough followed shortly after, then the temperature.

Sunday, she was determined to be well… the dog was still around and she didn’t want to miss out.

Sunday night the coughing started in the night from both junior bedrooms, and Lil Man awoke on Monday with the same cough, and temperature.

But both wanted to go to school. So we dosed them up on Calpol and sent them on their ways.

I popped into the pharmacy on the way home, to stock up on cough and cold remedies, and was sure my mother in law would have tried her Indian remedies on the kids too. and I hoped to get my flu vaccination. It is another important thing for me to get, as I work with little germ machines in nursery!

But the registered pharmacist was not in so the vaccination had to wait…

All stocked up!

I got to my in-laws house to find two children wrapped up in blankets on the sofas, with various poultices around them to get them better, and a teary Lil Princess, and a red-nosed Lil Man.

After drugging the children up, I hoped for a slightly better night’s sleep, but it wasn’t to be. Lil Man woke at 3am with a headache and a temperature so high I could fry an egg on him!

So the meds came out again, and once I settled him in my bed, I went off to book appointments for his parents evening. What else would you do at 3.20am? I was wide awake so thought it would be good to be productive!

Lil Princess stayed home today, even though she’d had a good sleep, and I told my son to do the same, but he hopped out of bed and said he wanted to go to school. Really? Your mum just offered you a sick day at home, and you refused? Strange boy!

I was surprised that I still felt ok. But as the day wore on, I started to feel the sniffles…

After school, and a rather long staff meeting, I got my vaccination done (hence the sore arm). Lil Princess was still coughing but generally better. Lil Man was still not well, with his cough, cold and temperature. I hope he listens to me this time in the morning when I say it’s a good idea to stay at home!

But I am sat here with the sore arm, as mentioned above, and a sore throat… Nooooooo!!!!!!

At least I am prepared with plenty of medicines!

Daydreamer Challenge – Day 1 Part 3 – Blue

The Daydreamer Challenge

Blue

blue3blue2blue1

What do you mean, Blue?

When the sky is Blue

It lifts up my heart so high

I smile all day long

But Blue, what to do?

As when my heart feels down, sad

Chills I feel, look blue…
